omphalosParticipantGreat game from Rudy Gay, rose up and hit the baseline J against Lebron with no time left on the clock to get the win for the Grizzlies against the Heat sans Wade. Impressive regardless.
On another note, what is the deal with OJ Mayo?

The8thDeadlySinParticipantMayo and Randolph were benched for being late… Coach is showing that some things are more important than a win but he got one anyway…

ilike.panochasParticipantI think Mayo is the type of guard that thrives with the ball in his hand for most of the game. Think about it, the guy has been a primary ball handler his whole life (highschool thru college). The only way he will truly thrive is if he’s put in the same environment as Tyreke Evans in Sacramento. Because Mayo has basically taken the back seat as far as primary ball handler to Conley and Gay.

omphalosParticipantRandolph hustled when he got out there at least, Mayo looked lost with his jumper seemingly missing and his effort is just way down. I can’t help but feel that he might not be part of Memphis’ long-term future if Henry starts playing better, because attitude is looking like a problem rather than ability with OJ.

ChosenOne2010ParticipantWhen they drafted Xavier Henry that OJ’s days were numbered. I just hope he gets traded to a team where he is the first or second option.

ilike.panochasParticipantA team like the Pacers would be a good fit, they don’t have a SG right now, and guys like Hibbert and McRoberts are big man who are willing passers unlike Z-Randolph. He has another shooter next to him with Granger who he can pass it to incase of double team. Grizzlies just have too many players that need the ball.

omphalosParticipantCharlotte is in desperate need of a player with star potential to complement Wallace’s hustle and Thomas’ athleticism when Stephen Jackson can no longer get it done. Really think the Bobcats would be a great fit.
Cavaliers are another team; they desperately need a star player to orbit around because Hickson is a great second option, not so much as a first. That said, they need a PG more than anything else and might be able to snag one in the lottery this season.

fgrrghgParticipantcan someone explain why lebron didnt foul rudy before he took that shot. The heat had a foul to give.. would have given memphis like 3 seconds with the ball out of bounds. Is that on spoelstra for not letting them know they had one to give? or lebron for not utilizing it?..

RUDEBOY_ParticipantI was at the game..It was like game 7 of a playoff game….
Dont forget Rudy lost the ball and that allowed the Heat to tie the game…Knowing Rudy he felt so down thinking he had caused his team to lose..But i’m happy he became the hero and not the goat..
That also was a great play by coach Hollins to have Rudy inbound the ball and get it back…

Meditated StatesParticipantDoes not attack the hoop like Tyreke either. He might fit on the Raptors cause they can let him handle the ball more. Just don’t see your team being a winning team with him as your leading man. Xavier Henry is catch and shoot a better fit for that team. Trade Mayo asap.

omphalosParticipant@Rudeboy: I expect that sort of atmosphere will be present in most Heat road games, especially when the win is there for the taking with Haslem injured and Wade inactive. I love that teams aren’t rolling over and just taking a beating for the most part.

bdoody42ParticipantI think a situation like Bobcats and Raptors be good places for him. He needs the ball to be at his best. hes not a true point guard but as said before is a less physical Tyreke Evans with a better jumpshot…. usually at least….
As for Indiana I don;t think be the best fir for him. They have Collison who would handle the ball the majority of the time. He would be almost in same situation… but we with less talented teammates overall.

MkadozaParticipantHow about some love for Rudy Gay? He is the focus of the topic. He’s playing at a level that people know he had the potential to reach, but he, like Carmelo has made that step into impacting the game in various ways. He’s standing with ball far less and making far fewer bad decisions. I honestly think playing with Durant over the summer has giving him a much better idea of how to get open shots. Gay only needs to learn how to create contact towards the end of the game instead of avoiding it on contested shots, but he’s clearly separated himself from Granger as the 4th best SF in the league, if Lebron is still one.

And If it wasnt for Eddie House 3 pointers, the Grizzlies playing poor transition defense allowing the Heat to stick around..It would’ve been a blowout…
