Pistons reportedly thinking about swapping Reggie Jackson for Rubio according to ESPN’s Marc Stein. Being a Wolves fan, nothing would make me happier! Since finding out the Wolves are willing to shop Rubio I’ve been excited just to get him out of MN, but I didn’t think that they would be able to get someone that is Jackson’s caliber! But my question is, does this make sense for the Pistons in any way and is it actually realistic for this to get done?

These are just rumors. I can’t see the pistons making this deal. Hopefully the wolves get desperate and end up trading Rubio to the cavs as lebron has said on multiple occasions they need a pg.

The Pistons and Wolves have actually engaged in talks about it. You would have to think the Wolves would need to add another asset to make it fair….

Shabazz Muhammad is apparently one of the additionally pieces the Pistons would want.

Jackson is more of a Tibs type guard and they can replace what Shabazz gives them with another more vetern wing, which Tibs also would like. Tibs loves vets and while Bazz may have more potential to grow, Tibs isn’t in the habit of waiting for that.

I agree, I wouldn’t mind shipping Shabazz and Rubio for Jackson. I think Rush can come off the bench and fill the role Shabazz had.

The guys are virtually the same age and T-Wolves getting extra scoring in Jackson and Detroit more creatavity in Rubio would be a nice fit.

My query would be what about Kris Dunn, if Jackson arrives, hew has 3 plus years on his deal would Dunn be able to be used as a bench guy playing some SG as well otherwise he’d only get 10-12 mpg behind Dunn.

Not saying it won’t go down, but usually Pistons trades are closely guarded secrets. No one knew about the Tobias Harris trade before it went down, or the Reggie Jackson trade either. SVG and Bower usually play their cards close to their chest so I’m not really sure whether this is a current thing or we just kicked the tyres and moved on already.

Told reporters that he texted Reggie last night and said "We’re not trading you for Ricky Rubio." He did acknowledge that talks happened, however.

Let’s be real, in this great era of Point Guards, both Jackson & Rubio are both very mediocre and in the bottom tier of PG starters. Neither is going to push a team over the edge, I highly doubt this trade happens but even if it did we’re talking the difference of a couple wins at best.

Ricky Rubio is a fabulous passer and ball handler. Unfortunately, his shooting skills are atrocious. If your team needs a PG who can score, RR is not your man.

However, find a team which doesn’t need a PG who can score, but instead needs a PG who can make the kind of passes which helps his teammates score, and you have the perfect situation for a Ricky Rubio.
