Draft Jordan Hill

The Grizz should draft Jordan Hill. He is the perfect fit there. Then they will have a legitimate allstar talent at every starting position except point guard. Jordan Hill is good. Good power forwards are harder to find than good point guards. Andre Miller is a free agent.

maybe a trade?

Maybe they should trade the pick for a veteran big? Maybe Chris Bosh? Last year Bosh said he wanted out of toronto. Amare and Shaq are also suppose to be traded this offseason. Carlos Boozer, Rasheed Wallace, and Lamar Odom are free agents.

I like the idea of bringing

I like the idea of bringing in Miller and adding Hill. To me it makes a lot of sense to a young team with a clash of talent. Miller can bring them together and hopefully make them playoff bound for 2009-2010.

hm

David Lee would be nice. I want to see the grizz benefit big from this draft. i don't want to see them taking thabeet like the rumors and these bloggers who have no idea about the grizzlies and have only seen one-two games of them. if memphis could draft rubio, trade his rights and a few picks/darko for griffin..and possibly take a lame contract.....without losing a core starter...i think the grizz could do alot better then.

conely

i have to disagree with you about legitamit allstarr talent -theking-. Give conely 2 more years before he's fully developed. by then, i hope to see mayo and gay dropping 20-25 ppg each.

Rubio/Hill/Etc

Jordan Hill is a legitimate All-Star talent but Mike Conley isn't?

Hill is the same age as Conley, has no NBA experience and is considered a questionable at best top 4 pick.

What part of Hill's game do people see fitting in well with the Grizzlies? Is he a dominant low post scorer? Is he particularly good playing man-to-man defense? Is he a ferocious shot blocker?

Most importantly if the Grizzlies truly want Jordan Hill they should trade down in the draft to get Hill and some secondary asset that will help the team like a perimeter scorer or defensive specialist (preferably a defensive SG/SF who can also hit the three).

Personally I think the best player to help this team immediately if the Grizzlies traded down would be either Tyreke Evans or James Harden. Harden/Evans would complete the backcourt for the Grizzlies as Conley, Mayo and Evans/Harden could matchup with any three guards in the league. Sign a free agent to fill the four spot like Varejao, Millsaps or Boozer and keep working hard with Darrell Arthur so he could be a strong backup PF but that is just my opinion.

Good point

Chipc3: I am willing to admit when I am wrong when I am wrong. I see Hill as more of a mid range shooter and Gasol as more of a post player. I think that sometimes if they both the center and power forward are post players it kinda messes things up on offense. Also I think Hill would be good at defending the smaller quicker bigs while Marc Gasol is better suited at defending centers and only centers. I don't see Marc Gasol or Hasheem Thabeet being able to defend quick power forwards. That is why I thought that Hill would be a better fit than Thabeet. I also thought all four starters would have the talent to be all stars. It is hard to say that someone could be an all star before they have played in an NBA game. I don't however agree with the strategy of trading down for a shooting guard or small forward unless you are planning on trading the small forward you already have. I think that would be a shame. He is pretty good.

Flash I look at the game of

Flash I look at the game of basketball from a Fantasy stand point and then a team stand point. I don't know how the Grizzlies manage to pull off obtaining David lee and Ricky Rubio in the same draft. Props to them if they don't have to move Gay,Mayo,Gasol though. I think lee is a great complement to Gasol in the post, but i don't know if he's worth 8-10 million dollars a year. You hit and missed signing Josh Smith which would have really put this team over the top in my mind. But I just see them taking Rubio and calling his bluff. If he doesn't want to play for Memphis I think a deal gets with Sacramento along the lines of Ricky Rubio, Marko Jaric for Jordan Hill, Donte Green and either the 23,31 or a future first round pick.

I like Rubio more than anyone else in this draft, but I think Hill is the perfect fit if a 2-8 swap can't be done

With the other pick draft the point guard.

You could then draft a point guard with the second pick. There will be plenty available. You could also draft Rubio and then draft a power forward later. Maybe you draft Taj Gibson. I just think that if Memphis wants to win next year they are better off with Hill and a back up pointguard to the vet conley.

Or draft a small forward with the second pick.

Maybe they would draft a small forward to replace gay when he becomes a free agent with the second pick. He will be a free agent in 2010.

Or maybe leadership

this team is young enough as it is....i believe they could benefit heavily trading the pick away for a proven veteran with a positive locker room presence that the younger players will respect...when greg buckner is your most experienced player i think there is an issue....rasheed wallace or mehmet okur (both 09 free agents)....two championship caliber shooting bigs...defensive liabilites maybe...but someone on this current roster needs to be developed into a leader.

Memphis - Minnesota Trade

I agree with chipc3, they have #2 pick and they should trade down with another team that is willing to give up a player and pick for Memphis' #2 pick. Minnesota could be a good partner since they got three picks just in the first round alone to trade with Memphis. Memphis should trade their #2 pick to Minnesota for their #6 and a PF or some other player to meet Memphis' needs. Either way, Minnesota just moves down a few spots, cut some cap space and they would still have three picks in the first round! Memphis also has a good cap room to grab a star player off the market. To sum it up, they got options!

On the other hand, Memphis could make a trade package of Milicic (expiring contract) & Jaric (barely getting playing time for such a pricey contract) to cut some cap room. Afterwards, signing a PG or getting one via trade would not hurt. Peace!

NO THABEET, NO THABEET. I'd

NO THABEET, NO THABEET. I'd rather not have Rubio either. Let's get Jordan Hill. A very productive big man i.e. Al Horford / Chris Bosh. We have been whining about big men for years and always default to the guards. We have Mike, OJ, and need a PF. Jordan Hill !!!!

Chill next year is a power foward draft. We need to take the best player forget need and everything else.Draft harden. the coach and teh gm siad they like the idea{{an idea i been speaking of} the idea of harden coming of the bench playing point and shooting gaurd so in the end he might get starter mintues because hes playing 2 postions at the end putting him in postion to be rookie of the year and a sixth man of the year look. im done explaing if they grizz dont draft harden they will be doomed for years to come.

ppl say Harden doesnt have

ppl say Harden doesnt have any upside haaaaaaaaaa hes coming in the league younger they roy and manu look at their level of play and imagine how harden game will be. he can make his right hand strong as his left try to improve his speed
and defense working on shooting. Where talking about a player with not many flaws thats major. kobe bryant another player with not many flaws at 19 drafted at a young age late in the lottery and traded. harden was turn over prone beacuse the defense focused on him and the ball was in his hand most the game he turned pendagraph to a poteinal draftee. he checked out to be 1 of the best athletes in the combine, Now im not saying hes the next kobe but what i will say is sg never get takin when they should in the draft jordan 3rd, wade 4th or 5th, kobe almost slipped out the lottery. last year mayo was traded from the t wolves when he could of done a better job then foye at the 2 gaurd spot. passing on harden will be a big mistake memphis need to draft him at number 2
