Tight ButtholeParticipantListed at 6’8 and 270, he was doing a lot of ball handling for Iowa State lastnight against Kentucky. While he went in to beast mode, it got me wondering where he would fall into the draft if he decided to come out. There are obviously a lot of good things about his game: leads team in scoring, rebounding, assists, steals, can handle the ball, leadership, confidence. But there are also some red flags about him: Suspended his freshman year at Minnesota for theft, anxiety issues he takes his meds for every day.
While his anxiety issues arent his fault, how big of a character hit does White take for his theft, and would that affect his draft position at all? The kid clearly has talent. Hes a sophomore transfer that just ended his first elligible season with a ton of highlights against the best team in the country. It was really exciting to watch him play lastnight, and I cant wait to see him play next year, be it in the NBA or for the Cylones.

Bob BallParticipanti love his game and his stock has to be very high right now. However along with the character red flags he is not a great shooter 49%ft. By coming back and working on his shooting and decsion making (he has alot of TO’s maybe because he has the ball so much)he can improve as a player but im not sure his stock will ever be this high again. so should he stay in school and improve as a player or take the money and run?

MattHoopsParticipantI am guessing he is coming back..Could be an All American next year……Next year, eventhough they lost Christopherson and Allen they will actually have a true point guard in Michigan State transfer Korie Lucious….

mosdefParticipantRW was abusing Anthony Davis and Terrence Jones. If you didnt know coming into the game, you would have thought RW was the #1 player in the draft. Anxiety meds usually make a person cloudy and its amazing that he can play at his high level on meds. I hear its pretty severe. I hear he doesnt like to fly on planes either, but neither did Bill Walton when he was young.
He should come out now if its an option cuz he is always going to be pushed down cuz of his anxiety and history. We all know he has handle and good post moves. The two things he has to work on is his FT% and range. He can do that in the offseason. I dont know what position he will play but he was beating Anthony Davis down the court and they rave about his foot speed. The fact that he can put the ball on the floor is a plus and really doesnt need the more centered training of college sports cuz he can put the ball on the floor. As for TOs, he has the ball all the time so yes his TOs are probably going to be higher. Maybe its his meds too.

river09ParticipantHe reminds me a lot of a bigger Michael Beasley, I know he doesn’t have the range but a jumpshot is something a player can improve and when he does he could really be special.

NotHamedHaddadiParticipantI think a good comparison is Boris Diaw. Both big men, about the same size, great passing ability for a big man, have a well rounded game but issues too, with White’s being his anxiety and character problems and Diaw’s being his weight.

WizardofOzParticipantWhite still needs to lose some weight, but his ball skills are legit and he’s very smart. He should take this summer seriously and remake his body. He’d be a shoo in first rounder next yr.

FastAndFuriousParticipantYesterday was my first time seeing him play a full game, and he is like the Lebron of college, not as good but just the way he plays, 6’7 260 can handle the ball, pass, attack the rim, very very strong, decent quickness considering how big he is he is def a first round talent, and as i said in a previous post everyone deserves a second chance.

aamir543Participant^I’m gonna assume that you’re being tortured in Tli’s basement being forced to pluck at Anthony Davis’ unibrow with tweasers, you do know ball, but it seems that you are in a state of mental instability at the moment. Tell Anthony to work in the post a bit more, will ya.
About Royce, he’s a great talent, a bit undersized, but still has the talent to play at the next level. It’d be in his best interest to work on his perimeter game a bit more, he has handles, if he works on his speed and quickness a bit more, he could be a great three/stretch four, sort of like Paul Millsap. Not sure whether he should come out or not. His stock can’t be higher, he and his family need to talk about what they think is the best for him, hopefully he’ll be able to handle his anxiety, but I think he’ll be a great pickup in the draft, the only minus is that due to his anxiety, he gets exhausted at the end of games, I don’t think there should be any major character concerns, with any young guys you want them to be in a locker room with mature vets, and I think his game will translate to the NBA, and he has a very nice post game.

Future_Scoutaamir are you seruious mental stability? lol, i was high this mourning texting off my messed up iphone i would repeat EVERYTHING i said!!!!!!!!!
the game is becoming more fast paced and more guard oriented, the centers of the new era are AD type of players. i been saying AD will be able to guard C in certain matchups since HIS ROOKIE YEAR! bigs like AD are better against all these new super fast/ slashing/scoring point guard AND all these athletic/hybrid forwards!
….
i been saying royce white had pg passing abilty (i didnt know he was so good on defense and those handles are serious for someone that big, also like dale worthington said "he’s hops are underrated" this guy posted up drummond and dunked it in his face (he did get blocked nastly once by drummond tho). and i think btph was damn right, POSSIBLE lotto pick imo
…
i’ve been saying pj55 is underrated, first guy i listed as a sleeper on that last "sleeper thread"… he got insane quicksn and handles , is very explosive, got a shot off the dribble, and can shoot threes. his main flaw is shot selection, which he gets tagged for everytime…. this guy wants to win and they can’t iso pj3, or quincy miller. he should be able to get pj3 more involved but pj3 is not that guy that’s always cutting on open lanes, and being extra aggressive to get the lead pass, much like quincy miller. heslip (who i mentioned on another thread the oher day) is the only guy who constantly tries to get open…
i g2g
