GottaBeTheShoesParticipantI know if I was in the NBA, I would troll the media and not give a sh!t about a fine that’s equivalent to a morning’s coffee for a normal person.

EntropyParticipantWould everyone react the same way if someone like Lebron or Wade said that?
0- Posted on: Sun, 06/02/2013 - 12:32am #788382
GottaBeTheShoesParticipantWith Lebron, whatever he says just seems out of place, narcissistic, or rude.
We all know Wade is a douchebag, so of course we’d take it as something that was said rudely.
Roy has a pretty clean cut image and is very chill, and what he said was true, the media doesn’t pay attention to the Pacers enough (they were 3rd in the East). It’s not that everyone has always hated what Lebron says, he’s said some logical things while playing for the heat but when he tells us we have to go back to our miserable lives while he lives in luxury, we’re not going to like what he says as much. Plus neither LeBron or Wade seem like generally funny people (at least outside their group).

Ghost01ParticipantLeBron is really terrible at this whole media life.
MJ always sounded narcissistic but it was in a way where you were like “Damn, he just doesn’t give a f*ck, because he knows he can’t be stopped”.
LBJ does it in such a less confident way, and just always seems uncomfortable whenever he’s asked anything vaguely challenging from the media.

BigChamp12ParticipantOf course they wouldnt. It’s only because of his image that they are loving the fact that he said this. They go off reputation and image. You should be able to remove a face from it and go off what was said, but that’ll never be the case. The same phrase can be said by 5 different players and it will be judged according to who said it.

BasketballJunkie224Participanti think lebron handles himself pretty well….you have to remember he is the BEST player ever so if he goes around saying whatever he wants then people look at him different….With all due respect to hibbert, he isnt exactly a top 100 player of all time so he can afford to say sh*t like that…i know im right but let the negging begin lol

NYFLAVA2K9ParticipantTo add, LeBron tried the whole tough guy thing his first season with the Heat… Just didn’t seem genuine enough and the next year he made this whole thing about how that wasn’t his style, and he needs to get back to being him which is not being a tough guy/villain. Don’t get me wrong, I like LeBron. Just the reason he doesn’t come off as a tough guy is because he’s not, which is perfectly fine. It has nothing to do with him watching words because as you proclaim he is “the best ever”.

Wahoo757ParticipantAnd of course Hibbert had to issue an apology, why does society have to be so hypersensitive about everything? Particularly homosexuality?

XYRYXParticipantTo me this is not an international media standard thing. You american media has in incredible double standards and I’m really wondering Hibbert gets away with calling the reporters (in front of him!!!) motherf*****s and the league fines him for gay slur comments. I think he is right with his opinion that no one should be surprised with the Pacers defense cause they have been elite all year and everyone should know this now.
This whole story is a joke to me. Hibberts no homo comment wasn’t cool or funny or whatever and he should just answer in a correct way without bringing this whole topic back to homosexual context if he believes this isn’t manly or whatever.
Your media double standard is hilarious and we shouldn’t talk about such Micky Mouse bs right now. We have a great game 7 tonite and the finals begin this Week. There is way more interesting stuff coming up than this!

RUDEBOY_ParticipantNBA Fined him $75,000.. Thats a little unfair..Kobe was fined $100,000 for whispering the word, only seconds after a call……You could Clearly hear what Hibbert said in a room full of people…..

CAROLINA BLUE NICKParticipantThe NBA doesn’t play about the homosexual thing. Esepcially after creating those anti-gay commercials and now with Jason Collins coming out of the closet. Rick Welts, the GM of the Phoneix Suns is openly gay too. Makes sense why Grant Hill and Jared Dudley were in the commercial too at the time being that they were Suns players. That’s just a shit storm the NBA doesn’t want to deal with. I think the only reason Hibbert wasn’t fined more is because he isn’t as well known or as popular as a Kobe or a Lebron. If he was on there level it would have been about 200k. Hell maybe even higher

IndianaBasketballParticipantKobe Bryant used a real gay slur towards a referee and was fined $100,000.
To think Hibbert should’ve been fined $200,000 or more for saying “no homo” is ridiculous.

CAROLINA BLUE NICKParticipantI agree. Not saying Hibbert should have been fined. Just saying if he was on there level he probably would have been. But I stand corrected because I saw a video of Lebron saying “no homo” and wasn’t fined lol.

The QParticipantThis is a joke. That it’s an issue and he was fined is frankly an embarrassment and bunch of hippy, communist pussies who can’t deal with anything without whining and crying about being PC.
1) anyone who has an issue needs to look up the definition of slur. Cause this isn’t an example of one.
2) it’s a phrase
3) homo is short for an actual word, not short for slur.
Trying to pretend like hibbert dropped n word or the w word just makes you pathetic.

He didn’t use a fake slur like Kobe did.
