Roy Hibbert; Get Big!
He wants to be fit. There was concerns about his work ethic and mental toughness but getting in shape and doing MMA takes a lot of both. Keep this up he will make the all star team he already has the game . Mike Tyson is the best example speed kills imagine a more agile , stronger ( not ripped Increased strength) ,a roy with more endurance, more lift, and last but not least more toughness which his old coached touched a nerve with him about. This is good for the pacers BAD FOR THE HEAT.
He still had baby fat coming out of college. This is an amazing transformation over the past 4 or 5 years. Hibbert still isn't very quick, but with this kind of muscle and strength he's going to be even more opposing in the lane.
I'm a huge Roy Hibbert fan. In a league full of guys who are 6-11 and want to play out on the perimeter, he's one of the handful of TRUE centers left. Following in the footsteps, of Georgetown centers Mutombo, Mourning and Ewing, Hibbert has a chance to be special this year. He's obviously worked extremely hard this off-season, probably fueled by the loss in the ECF to the Heat. He could be a huge difference-maker in a possible playoff rematch with the Heat this season. I think he is the best Center in the East.
Wow! Look at how much bigger he is than Duncan and Splitter.
Hibbert said he was going to put in major work on his body, quickness, athleticism, etc this summer. He wasn't lying. The reports are that Paul George has bulked up too.
Overall, I do think he's the best center in the East.
He's the best in the East. And if he gets stronger and adds some moves to his post game then I could see him being the best center in the LEAGUE. His size and defense is already there. His scoring came back after a bad start and he can block shots.
Chris Bosh just crapped his pants too...
As for him being the Best center in the east goes, as much as I hate Andrew Bynum after the bull he pulled in Philly, if he's healthy he's the best Center in the east...
Wow, he looks huge in that pic. Throw in the fact that he's standing next to a guy who looks about 5'6" on a good day, he looks enormous.
If Bynum is healthy, which is a big if, he's the best center in the East. I think if Hibbert can produce on a consistent basis, he has a chance to be the best in the East. He's just never been that consistent. He'll have a stretch of games where he dominates, and then a handful of games of 10 and 6. Not sure if it has to do with conditioning, foul trouble, lack of focus, etc. Consistency will be key for Hibbert becoming the #1 center in the east.
Are you guys more impressed by him or Kevin Love? Both have had insane transformations since college.
He looks massive, it's not lean and muscle, he's a huge muscular guy. If he brings his play off scoring to the regular season, he will be a beast and should be back in the All Star mix regardless.
Also meant to add, if he has improved his conditioning as looks obvious, he'll be an even more dominant player, he was one of the leading offensive rebounders which for a guy of his size is impressive as the true bigs are often much more defensive players.
Props to all guys doing major work on their bodies. I'm still taking Brook Lopez over him though, especially based on last season.
It will be interesting to see in a few years how Hibbert and Brook Lopez compare careerwise as they both entered the NBA in 2008, although they do play a totally different sort of game one being offence, the other being noted for his defence.
I must admit Hibbert did play very good in this year's playoffs ....An Orlando sportscaster called him a ''Poor Man's version of Shaq....
