dmo21ParticipantSo I was bored and went through all the rosters and figured out what I thought would be their starting lineups and backups with the players they currently have under contract. Any restricted or unrestricted free agents were not counted towards a roster but players with team/player options were counted towards the roster as they are still under contract as of now. This is what I came out with:
ATL- Hinrich(Teague), Johnson(??), Williams(Rolle), Smith(Pachulia), Horford(Benson)BOS- Rondo(Moore), Allen(Bradley), Pierce(??), Garnett(Johnson), O’Neal(Krstic)CHA- Augustin(Walker), Henderson(Carroll), Maggette(Diaw), Thomas(White), Biyombo(Diop)CHI- Rose(Watson), Bogans(Korver), Deng(Brewer), Boozer(Gibson), Noah(Asik)CLE- Davis(Irving), Eyenga(Gee), Harris(Graham), Hickson(Jamison), Varejao(Thompson)DET- Knight(Bynum), Hamilton(Gordon), Daye(Singler), Maxiell(Villanueva), Monroe(Wallace)IND- Collison(Hill), Rush(George), Granger(Posey), Hansbrough(??), Hibbert(??)MIA- Cole(House), Wade(Miller), James(Jones), Bosh(Haslem), Anthony(Ilgauskas)MIL- Jennings(Udrih), Jackson(Dooling), Delfino(Harris), Gooden(Ilyasova), Bogut(Sanders)NJ- Williams(Farmar), Morrow(Brooks), James(Graham), Outlaw(Williams), Lopez(Petro)NY- Billups(Shumpert), Fields(Walker), Anthony(??), Stoudemire(Balkman), Turiaf(Harrellson)ORL- Nelson(Arenas), Redick(Liggins), Turkoglu(Richardson), Anderson(Bass), Howard(Orton)PHI- Holiday(Williams), Turner(Meeks), Iguodala(Brackins), Brand(Nocioni), Speights(Vucevic)TOR- Calderon(Bayless), DeRozan(Barbosa), Johnson(Kleiza), Davis(Johnson), Bargnani(Valanciunas)WAS- Wall(Mack), Crawford(??), Vesely(Singleton), Blatche(Lewis), McGee(Seraphin)DAL- Kidd(Beaubois), Fernandez(Terry), Butler(Marion), Nowitzki(??), Haywood(Mahinmi)DEN- Miller(Lawson), Hamilton(??), Gallinari(Harrington), Nene(Faried), Andersen(Mozgov)GS- Curry(Jenkins), Ellis(Thompson), Wright(??), Lee(Udoh), Biedrins(Tyler)HOU- Lowry(Flynn), Martin(Lee), Budinger(Morris), Scola(Patterson), Hill(Thabeet)LAC- Williams(Bledsoe), Gordon(Foye), Aminu(Gomes), Griffin(Thompkins), Kaman(??)LAL- Fisher(Blake), Bryant(Brown), Artest(Barnes), Gasol(Odom), Bynum(??)MEM- Conley(Vasquez), Allen(Mayo), Gay(Young), Randolph(Arthur),??(??)MIN- Rubio(Ridnour), Johnson(Webster), Beasley(Williams), Love(Randolph), Milicic(Miller)NO- Paul(Jack), ??(??), Ariza(Pondexter), West(??), Okafor(Gray)OKC- Westbrook(Maynor), Sefalosha(Harden), Durant(??), Ibaka(Collison), Perkins(Aldrich)PHO- Nash(??), Dudley(Childress), Pietrus(??), Frye(Warrick), Gortat(Lopez)POR- Felton(Smith), Roy(Matthews), Wallace(Batum), Aldridge(??), Camby(Barron)SAC- Evans(Fredette), Salmons(Garcia), Casspi(Honeycutt), Cousins(Greene), Thompson(Whiteside)SA- Parker(Neal), Ginobili(Anderson), Jefferson(Leonard), Bonner(Splitter), Duncan(Blair)UTA- Harris(??), Burks(Bell), Hayward(??), Millsap(Kanter), Jefferson(Favors)Who do you all think looks set for next season? dmo21ParticipantForgot to update Cleveland and Sacramento from that trade. It would probably now be:
CLE- Davis(Irving), Eyanga(Gibson), Casspi(Harris), Jamison(Thompson), Varejao(Erden)
SAC- Evans(Fredette), Salmons(Garcia), Greene(Honeycutt), Hickson(Thompson), Cousins(Whiteside)

SealioParticipantSAC – Fredette (Thomas) – Evans (Thornton/Garcia) – Salmons (Greene/Honeycutt) – Hickson (Thompson) – Cousins (Whiteside)
Since they traded Beno i think Jimmer gets the start right away. After they resign Thornton i think that Jimmer/Evans/Thornton can rotate in the starting lineup.
Thompson will be the first one off the bench followed by Garcia at the 2 or 3. Hopefully Honeycutt will bring something different that Casspi and Greene couldn’t provide.
I like the future of the Kings but Westphal isn’t great at developing young talent so we will see what happens.

Memphis MadnessParticipantIf I were the Kings I would think about starting Tyreke and Jimmer with Tyreke playing point guard on offense and Jimmer playing off the ball and spotting up at the 2. Then put Jimmer on the other team’s 1 and Tyreke on the other team’s 2 on defense.

SwatLakeCityParticipantLOFTY: I think what he is referring to is that Kanter is more of a PF than a Center. Even though he is 6’11 and 260lbs, he plays more like a PF than a Center. This is probably why both Draftexpress and this site have compared him to current PF’s (Al Horford, this site, K-love, draft express.) He actually likes to play PF and wants to play against PF’s in the NBA. Although I too think he messed up the lineup a bit. Here’s the lineup that I am projecting for Utah:
PG: Harris/???
SG: Miles/Burks
SF: Hayward/Millsap
PF: Jefferson/Favors
C: Kanter/???
As you can see I view Kanter as a Center who can play some PF as well. My comparison for him is thus a little different. (Best Case Scenario: Marc Gasol meets Al Horford.) If this is the lineup, then most likely both Watson, and Fez will be re-signed. Price might be too if Utah feels they need a third PG.

aamir543Participant@Wardb12,(Read this post in your Stephen a Smith voice.) I can not beleeeeeeeeeeeve the things you say! Gordon Hayward, over Paul Milsap! Are you out of your mind. Did you escape from a metal asylum! Paul Milsap is a 17 and 7 energy guy that gives all he’s got on both ends. Hayward is one dimensional scoring small foward. His shot is inconsistant, he plays sub-par defense, and can not box out with the big boys. Sorry, I am just saying it how it is.

providencefriars1ParticipantThere are so many little things wrong with those projected rosters, its obvious you have little attention to detail. For example Kristic is not on the Celtics anyomore and some players would be the first guard off the bench to play either the one or two so you cant just line up guys by starter(backup).

SwatLakeCityParticipantokay aamir let me say this again. Millsap averaged those numbers this season because he started. If he was a backup. He never would have averaged that. He actually is a much better player defensively as a backup then he is as a starter. If he plays backup, you’ll see him get more double-double’s. If you watched him this year, he was actually very weak defensively. Part of the reason why Utah was so soft down low this year. Thank goodness they drafted Kanter. He should change that. I want Millsap to go back to his defensive ways. That’s why I have him as a backup. And actually I’ve heard the Jazz thinking of changing the main position of both Jefferson and Millsap. Trying Al out at PF and Millsap at SF. Kind of wierd, I know, but it might work. They tried using Millsap at Small Forward in a game against the Lakers this year. (Favors was at PF and Jefferson was at Center) Utah actually ended up winning the game. So they might try it again more extensively this year with Kanter at Center, Jefferson at PF and Millsap at SF. Although I don’t think Millsap will be that effective starting as a SF. I think he’ll be much more effective as a backup SF. I have Millsap as a backup for that reason as well as two others.
1: Utah needs a better 6th man than CJ Miles. If Miles ends up starting then Utah will need to find another 6th man. If Miles ends up playing backup, then he is too inconsistent and can not provide that energy consistently that the bench needs. But Millsap can. No matter if he comes off the bench or starts.
2: You probably saw a big outburst from Hayward towards the end of the season. In the last game last year, he had his best game with 34 points. Of course, he started that game. I think he can continue that success into next season and improve his measley 5 point average in his rookie year. He could average like 12-13 points a game next year. Which means he and Millsap would probably share time this year at SF.
Hayward might even be playing some 2 next year as well! Utah has a very versatile roster. So you will probably see a lot of "wierd lineups this year. For proof just look at this from just last year’s players.
Dwill, Harris, Price, Hayward, Miles, Jefferson, Favors, AK, Millsap all played multiple positions last year. Now you add Burks and Kanter to that and you have 10 players who can play multiple positions. That’s almost the entire roster. Don’t view someone so strictly as one position. Because you won’t see that in Utah. You will see guys playing all sorts of positions this year.
(I actually did not even add Bell in that lineup. Why: because I think he will be traded during the offseason or the season. Depending of course how long the lockout is)

aamir543Participant@wardb12, I wrote a really long paragraph, but I clicked on a stupid add, so to sum it up, Millsap is 28th in the league in rebounds, 32 in points, and 28th PER. So can we at least say he is a top 40 player? Right? So why would you replace a top 40 player with a promising but still developing project? Why? And take a look at this link, and look at where Millsap is at 28, and look at all the players below him. Hayward’s PER is 11, and Millsap’s is 20, so I dont think Gordon is quite ready, and remember, Milsap is still getting better.

scliddiardParticipantI don’t think you’ll see Burks in the starting lineup , especially at first, what I hope for and what will be, may be two different things. I hope they start Favors at PF , Big Al at center, (I’d like Kanter but it won’t happen at first either), CJ at SF, (unless they resign AK, or find another SF that can start), Hayward at 2, (Jazz coaches & FO think Hayward is their 2 of the future), Harris at the point.
I think they will resign Watson as backup to Harris, Burks may be a backup at both 1 & 2, Milsap as a backup at both 3 & 4, Evans as a back up at 3 & 4, (he’s supposed to be working on his game, so he can play some 3), Kanter will back up both 4 & 5, (until he proves worthy of starting). Bell will back up at the 2, but I hope Burks proves he deserves the major minutes as the backup. The rest of the lineup we don’t even know who they will be.

aamir543ParticipantI am not complaining about getting negs, just trying to figure somthing out.
Wardb12 and I had contradicting ideas, and we both presented valid arguments to support our points. Normally, what would happen is either none of us get any points at all, or one of us gets around 3 to 4, and the other gets a couple negs.
But lately somthing weird has been happening. Not just in this instance, but in other instances also. I go to a bunch a threads, and 70% of the people have like 5 negs, and what they are saying shouldn’t really contradict anybody. It seems like people are just going around and giving negs to random people, and its not cool

M-DYMESParticipantThat last post…looking back I sound like a dick.
Just letting you know what it resembles to me every time I see it. It just looks like your chugging a beer in your car.
Sorry for coming off as an &$#%#&@!.
But to change it you go about it the same way you put in the original one I believe.

GrovesinternationalParticipantall these people who want to start millsap at SF… he’s not a small forward, he’s a power forward, you can’t really be dumb enough to call him a starting small forward. he may play some spot minutes as a backup SF, but he’ll mostly play PF, otherwise, trade him
