Lotto StudParticipantWho is the better player between the two & who would you pick in a head to head match-up?
0 - Posted on: Thu, 03/25/2010 - 9:13am #269725
UKWildcat_11ParticipantWell obviously Rose cuz he’s played in the L for 2 years.
Whenever they both have experience in the NBA though, it’s impossible to tell who would be better. But I’ll probably pick Wall cuz he’s taller, longer, just as quick, faster, and can finish through contact. Rose is bigger though so it would be extremely close

QUINCEYits easily rose right now….no one on here knows for sure who is taller not that it matters because the arm legnth is what matters most and that seems to belong to wall. like everone else i dont know who is truley faster. coach cal said bledsoe is actually faster then wall and he would know much better then any of us but some people have there mind so set that they act like he doesnt know what hes talking about. as far as finish through contact rose is better at that and will be int he nba because of his body. all that contact will take a toll on a body like wall and he will end up getting a bunch of injuries ala wade

QUINCEYi also think at this poitn rose is smarter as far as knowing when to slow down and knowing how to not run over someone and get the turnover or charge when someone is blocking his path
0 - Posted on: Thu, 03/25/2010 - 9:25am #269729
UKWildcat_11ParticipantYeah we can answer this question a lot easier in a few years when Wall has spent a few years in the L
0 - Posted on: Thu, 03/25/2010 - 9:35am #269733
QUINCEY^exactly…one thing that concerns me about wall other then the turnovers is his release…it looks slow and more blockable then other guards release. i may be wrong about the blockable part but theres something about it that seems blockable
0 - Posted on: Thu, 03/25/2010 - 10:22am #269768
JNixonParticipantWall and Bledsoe both have slow releases when shooting spot-up shots. Wall’s release does clean up ALOT on pull-up shots though. I can’t recall Bledsoe shooting pull-ups to say whether his does or not.

midwestbbscoutParticipantNobody in the world is as explosive as Derrick Rose pound for pound…..maybe Lebron but probably not….Wall is right there though….
0 - Posted on: Thu, 03/25/2010 - 11:02am #269786
QUINCEYlol..no one in the world?..maybe lebron? there arent other guys in the nba who are as good as rose but there are guys who are just as explosive.. youre getting the 2 confused
0 - Posted on: Thu, 03/25/2010 - 12:17pm #269827
midwestbbscoutParticipantJosh Smith, Nate, Amare are maybe in the same class…..but nobody has the speed, jump, change of direction, power combo of Rose…..I challenge you to name me one…..
0 - Posted on: Thu, 03/25/2010 - 12:18pm #269829
midwestbbscoutParticipantMaybe Lebron??? But Lebron shouldn’t even count….
0 - Posted on: Thu, 03/25/2010 - 12:22pm #269832
QUINCEYdwade. i think explosiveness is the first step ability to blast past your opponent. Not really that rigid, first a first very explosive step to go start passing your opponent on either side. Then the explosiveness goes on, the player has to have the power of presence and strength and agility in his body to continue building on this explosive first step to be able to go past his opponent completely and make something of his explosive -big m
0 - Posted on: Thu, 03/25/2010 - 12:23pm #269834
QUINCEYand thats for guards. d.howard is very explosive. and rose maybe int he same class as amare and josh not the other way around
0 - Posted on: Thu, 03/25/2010 - 12:27pm #269837
SlimParticipantlebron had a 44 inch running vert his rookie year I dont know if he’s lost any vert since he got bigger but
rose measured a 40 inch running vert
josh smith and rudy gay had the same thing I think…
Rose is upper echelon
0 - Posted on: Thu, 03/25/2010 - 12:29pm #269838
JNixonParticipantI think Rose is a top 3 guy in terms of pure athleticism as well. Lebron and Wade are the only guys I’d say are better pure athletes.

morgatilParticipanthttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TDp5pFfzV_A
that move at 0:15. Maybe Rose, Wade and Lebron could finish like that with 2 hands. I don’t think anyone else could beat everyone else down the floor while taking it coast to coast and cross dude over like that. Wall is unreal and he is just getting better.
0 - Posted on: Thu, 03/25/2010 - 1:00pm #269852
QUINCEYif we are going just by vert MetatronDaDon then
mayo had a 40inch and eric gordan and johnny flynnjordan farmar
ronnie brewer
al thortan0 - Posted on: Thu, 03/25/2010 - 1:02pm #269853
QUINCEYas far as that move morgatil i seen billy edlin, james white, majestic mapp, julian peterson, and ronald curry do that. alot of other guys as well who never made it in the nba. although julian and curry did make it to the nfl

Lotto StudParticipantWhat is Wall’s vert compared to Rose ?
0 - Posted on: Thu, 03/25/2010 - 1:06pm #269856
QUINCEYno one knows because he hasnt been measured at the nba predraft camp… right now its just a guess just like his speed and height
0 - Posted on: Thu, 03/25/2010 - 1:15pm #269864
morgatilParticipantReally Quincey? James White can’t even dribble. The other guys aren’t even relevant. I mean, Curry won the McD’s Slam Dunk contest, but he never amounted to much in basketball. And that list you made, those guys could beat the other 9 guys on the court while dribbling from coast to coast, crossover and finish with 2 hands?
Really?
0 - Posted on: Thu, 03/25/2010 - 1:19pm #269866
QUINCEYmy point isnt if they are relevant. my point is ive seen those guys do that as well as many other guys. maybe you just havent seen many good basketball player in youre life time but i have. as a matter of fact some guys on my aau team did that as well.. steve francis did that alot while we were in florida playing for the aau national champinion ship
val brown did that a couple of times at george washington and alot while at washington lee. once against us in a summer game( damn near dunked on me) and he was a freshman in hs.
so dont make a ignorant statement that no one else has ever did it just because you have never seen it. and james white can handle the ball you think he played sg in the nba just because he can dunk?
0 - Posted on: Thu, 03/25/2010 - 1:21pm #269868
QUINCEY“I don’t think anyone else could beat everyone else down the floor while taking it coast to coast and cross dude over like that. Wall is unreal and he is just getting better.”
that was youre comment.. said nothing about how skilled a player is. only that YOU DONT THINK that anyone else could do that. my point was i have seen others do that and im pretty sure you can find some people on here who have seen others do that as well
0 - Posted on: Thu, 03/25/2010 - 1:40pm #269880
SlimParticipantman I have dial-up and I just saw this dunk that started this argument, man its not that impressive
Wall’s vert is probably not as high as Rose’s but it doesnt matter because Wall has longer arms
I think Rose is naturally quicker bcuz smaller guys usually are
but I think both are going to have to get that jumper on point to reach their potential
but I think Rose will do it sooner than later
he’ll be a stronger version of Tony ParkerWall we will have to wait and see but overall he needs to go on the right team to avoid the lottery, even Chris Paul missed the playoffs the 1st year
I think the Wall comparisons to Dwyane Wade need to stop though,
Wade has a 6’11 armspan Wall has a long armspan but not that big! he be good for defending 1 position imho
0 - Posted on: Thu, 03/25/2010 - 1:45pm #269884
QUINCEYi forgot another guy who did that but finished with a windmill…ronnie feilds…also saw kelvin tolbert and paul mcpherson do that as well
0 - Posted on: Thu, 03/25/2010 - 1:45pm #269885
QUINCEYand flip murry when we played him in college. he did it about 3 times
0 - Posted on: Thu, 03/25/2010 - 3:06pm #269965
SlimParticipanteric gordon gots a 40 inch vert,
I think Rose will be the better shooter like Devin Harris or Tony Parker type,
Wall will be better at finishing with contact like a smaller version of Wade, kind of,
i think he’ll avg close to or above 20 on a lottery team, 17-18 on a contender
0 - Posted on: Thu, 03/25/2010 - 3:10pm #269976
morgatilParticipantYou forgot a few more guys that can jump out of the gym, easily crossover in traffic, and posses amazing quickness:
Michael Wilson
Shawn Kemp
Jordan
Josh McRoberts
Roy HibbertMy point is, of all the guys you named, not a one of them is anywhere near as quick as rose, wall and lebron. They can make that move, but the defense is gonna catch up to them. You are not catching rose, wall or lebron.
0 - Posted on: Thu, 03/25/2010 - 3:11pm #269981
QUINCEYi never said they were as quick. just said ive seen many guys make that move and be quick or just as quick while making it. doesnt mean they are that quick all the time but we are only talking about in one coast to coast instance
0 - Posted on: Thu, 03/25/2010 - 3:15pm #269988
SlimParticipantDoes any of this really matter?
I mean Westbrook can do that a whole lot of players can do that, you act like he threw it off the backboard and windmilled it jeesh…
>:(
2 points is 2 points
0 - Posted on: Thu, 03/25/2010 - 3:16pm #269994
SlimParticipantand 1 dunk does not a victory make,
I say Rose and Wall are equal
0 - Posted on: Thu, 03/25/2010 - 3:17pm #269997
morgatilParticipantQuick or quick and quick to whatever you said.
2 points is 2 points. I am glad all of this is settled.
I would take Rose anyways.
