negguaryParticipantSo whose the rookie of the year based off of numbers? If its based off numbers I would say Noel is because he is top five in more categories. If its wiggins then that shows that we base the ROY award off who puts up the most points.

prophetmeirParticipantI honestly did not know that Noel numbers were that good , every team values a big men who can guard pick and rolls

nitestalParticipantThis draft class doesn’t look as deep or as good as people said…very underwhelming indeed!

ChewyParticipantEmbiid, Parker, Gordon, Randle, Saric (not injured, just hasn’t come over).
We won’t see what this class has to offer this year. Too early to make judgements.

Rip255I’m pretty sure Exum’s been told by Quinn Snyder not to do anything….
Don’t drive, don’t go for steals or rebounds, don’t try and fancy passes.
Just stand in the Corner and close out on shooters.
Strange thing is, I’m pretty sure he’s Utah’s best plus/minus players and he’s "earned" a starting role….

butidonthavemoneySnyder’s reportedly been trying to get Exum to be more aggressive and play through his mistakes. Exum just hasn’t been able to do that. He lacks the confidence to do anything in the paint. His first step often gets him in the lane, but the moment any help defense comes over, he looks to either pass or back out to the perimeter. He’s getting better at not running away from the ball, but he’s still timid by anyone’s standards.
Hayward had similar issues his rookie year. So did CJ Miles. It’s not a good sign, but it’s not uncommon either. Exum just needs time to develop. With a couple years of conditioning, strength training, and experience, I think he’ll become a quality NBA starter — potentially more than that.

sitlbitoParticipantYou nailed it. I’ve rarely seen a player having such a low production, but still absolutly not hurting his team. That’s a very good thing though. It’s often the opposite with rookies,,like Zach Lavine, scores almost 8 points per 20 minutes en the floor, but has a very bad +/-.

lalailaParticipant9!! blocks and 4 steals for Noel last night! Improving blocks&steals into 1.84 – 1.64. Looks like he is a lock to be the first 3 blocks 2steals big guy since what Mr. Olajuwon or David Robinson back in mid-90’s

lalailaParticipantyeah that’s strange.. but would you say already it wa overhyped draft?
imo it was, A LITTLE BIT.
but I think Randle and Embiid would get that number up to four, plus Parker would probably avg around 15ppg by now(he was the leading rooke scorer before injury)
And it’s all about potential with Vonleh, Lavine, Exum, Gordon because guys like Harden, Derozan, Paul George, man even T-Mac and Kobe didn’t avg double digits in their rookie season..
but still..yeah I thought they would start it better and faster too

mgreener_34ParticipantI think I’m on the opposite side of the fence in that I think this draft class has actually exceeded my expectations.
Parker and Wiggins showed us that they’re going to be absolute studs in this league.
Smart has shown that at worst he’s going to be an elite 3-D guard, probably making an all NBA defensive team in the near future.
McGary/Nurkic/KJ McDaniels have all shown flashes of being starters in this league, McGary and Nurkic being quality starting bigmen who can score and defend.
Lavine/Young/Payton/Exum/Hood/Grant/Early have all shown that with a little more developement they’ll be at worst decent role players.
Randle/Saric/Embiid have yet to even play, and the rest of the lottery/1st round still hasn’t cracked the rotation because of playing on a good team (McDuggy/Warren/Payne/Adams/Anderson) or because they are prospecs who we all knew would take some time to develope (Vonleh/Gordon/Harris/Young).
The only playes who have really underwhelmed compared to how people thought they would do would be Stauskas/Shabazz/Hairston. Which is actually shocking considering those guys were toughted as th most nba ready prospects.
I think overall, this draft will produce atleast 4 all-stars, and have at least 15-20 or so players stick around in this league. That’s great substance for a draft considering we haven’t even seen 3 of the top prospects play in the NBA.

lalailaParticipantyes I understand you completelly and you said "at least" but 4 allstars in far from what great draft class should be..
like 2009 draft already has SIX players who made it and still some other contenders but they aren’t called GREAT draft class just yet.

Andrew1984ParticipantAlso of note is Langston Galloway, a 23-year-old rookie who is averaging 11.6 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 3.1 assists, but hasn’t played in enough games to qualify (17).

r377ParticipantNurkic 10p – 9.5reb – 2.2blks in Feb in only 24 mins.
His minutes and stats will increase now and he should end up on the all-rookie first team

lalailaParticipantyeah, we don’t even need that split, his season per minute stats are great too.. if we double up his minutes from 17.6 to 35.2 his stats looks like 14.2ppg 13prg 1.8spg 2.6bpg.
Those are great per minute stats and we knew he has big body and nice touch to score and adding his nose for ball his rebounding isn’t that shocking, but most surprising is his ability to defend and to block shots especially for a guy who has really avg length for 6’11 big and pretty poor explosiveness (if we believe combine numbers it’s 7’2 winspan and only 23inch max vert)

MattP31Participantplaying much, much better since a little before the deadline- right when MCW got hurt and started to miss time. Averaging over 10 PPG since then and looking better on the boards. He really seems better without MCW and having guys like Larry Drew, Tim Frazier, and Ish Smith as pass first points.
I’m a Sixer fan and prior to the recent breakout I was down on Noel, thinking he could be good but never worth the hype he got. I still don’t know if he will be worth that hype, but I’m starting to be much more confident in him developing into a very good NBA starter. Probably a 13/10 guy with 2 blocks and 1.5 steals as he continues to add bulk(added a couple pounds in-season) and improve his jumper(which is improving)

mgreener_34ParticipantI think it’s also time to give Rodney Hood some recognition. He’s not blowing me away, but since the All-Star break he’s been averaging 10-2-2 on 46/46/74 percent shooting with a 58% TS% on only 20 mpg. That’s very impressive, and the Jazz have been one of the better teams in basketball since that time. He’s also sporting a respectable 98 defensive rating, but I’m not sure if that’s because the Jazz as a whole have been lights out on D since Gobert was promoted. He’s a great player, and I really thought the Celtics should have drafted him over Young, but I’m happy with the situation both players are in.
