I think Indiana in trade of Rondo and Wallace ($23mil) and Hibbert and Stephenson ($23mil if Stephenson take current contract) is worth a discussion at least. Copeland or Scola maybe both would need to be moved from Indiana as well, an enevibilty if they kept Stephenson either way.

For Indiana they obtain that legit PG and a second star to put on the team. Rondo will be a dream to play off of for shooters like G.Hill, Miles, Rudez and George will get some really nice looks.

The downside is the lose of a dominant defensive C in Roy Hibbert who despite his collapse this season is still a superior C compared to most in the NBA. He would fit really well next to Olynyk or Sullinger as they can stretch the floor and give him some room to post up which I am sure he will love. A reunion with Jeff Green would probably be another good thing in Hibbert’s books to keep him in a good mood.

The Celtics get a young 2-guard with All-Star potential and a great tenacity for the game and he would be paired with another great young guard in Marcus Smart. Defensively they would be a nightmare along with Bradley as well who would be a great combo guard off the bench.

    Pacers: PG. Rondo/Watson SG. Hill/Miles SF. George/Hill/Rudez PF. West/Wallace C. Mahinmi/Allen

    Celtics: PG. Smart/Bradley/Pressey SG. Stephenson/Thornton SF. Green/Young PF. Olynyk/Sullinger C. Hibbert/Zeller/Faverani

A Smart-Stephenson combination makes for a ferocious backcourt. Would cause teams fits on defense.

I don’t think that trade is too awful, as long as Rondo resigned. But TBH, Hibbert and Stephenson’s value is as low as it will go right now- therefore, I think right now Boston wins this trade.

However, Indiana don’t want their championships window to slam shut, so might be tempted- although if I’m Indiana, I need one or two more assets thrown in- otherwise it’s effectively two all-stars for one. Maybe Olynk/Sullinger, and flip another Boston asset+George Hill to someone for a servicable centre.

I have to say I like this trade but have problem with it. If Lance accepts a offer around what the original Pacers offer was in this sign and trade, why wouldn’t he just resign there to keep this team intact?

I mean Rondo is by a landslide the best point guard the Pacers had in more than a decade or even way longer (Marc Jackson and who else ?) but Mahinmi and Allen aren’t really better than Hibbert along with Lance/PG and I’m much more sold that keeping Lance but getting rid of Hibbert or Hill would be the better option for the Pacers imo. I know Hibberts trade value seems to be career near low but I don’t think a team like the Knicks would turn down an offer for Hibbert if they can remodel their roster with Melo back now, they really need to make some moves and Amare said he wants to be back on All Star level this year, he feels this good.

Non the less I like the Idea of Rondo Leasing a veteran defensive minded team in Indiana very much and this would really clean up the mess of a stuck rebuild in Boston but in personal pretty world where loyality is more important I want to see the Celtics rise again with Rajon included.

Would not be my backcourt of the future. Sorry. Dont see it.  Indiana wins that deal by getting Rondo. The C’s get roll players all and all in that.

With the Bulls beefing up their front line, I don’t think now is the time to trade Roy Hibbert…

The Pacers need to re-sign Lance Stephenson and just "stay the course" right now.

The Pacers are still a very good team. They had a lot of distractions last season and didn’t handle those as well as they could’ve. I think they’ll all grow from it and be better this season. Hopefully, Vogel gets a clue offensively this season.

Might not be the right time to trade Hibbert, but you really need a true pg.  The Pacers big problem is that you have traded all your assets and don’t have anything to trade besides players like Hibbert and Stephenson.
