IknoBall12Participanti heard a lot of hype for this kid last year as Wichita st made their run over the last few years but what exactly is all the talk about? I mean he’s a good sized kid with pretty good shooting stroke but I don’t see what makes him the NBA player ppl tried to say he was. It honestly felt to me that he was 1 of those guys the media tries to build up to be a star but I just don’t see it when I watch him play. I mean seriously what’s the difference between him and nik stauskas? I actually think stauskas is a much better prospect. Anyway thoughts on baker? Just need feedback on his skillset because the guy Ive watched I wasnt too blown away by

he_gets_bucketsParticipantApart from the tone of their skin I don’t think Stauskas and Baker are much alike at all. Stauskas was a scoring point who was really good with the ball in his hands and had great off the dribble range, Baker is an offball compliment piece who has improved his shot but still isn’t an elite shooter.

Jayhawks2011ParticipantHe’s like a college version of Danny Green. Don’t really see him as an nba prospect. He just got way hyped during their tourney runs when really VanFleet, Cotton, and Early (last year) are all better players than him.

drice4life1753ParticipantBaker is so much more important to Wichita St. than Danny Green ever was to UNC. I remeber when Danny Green was a 4 star recruit and he didn’t do anything until his senior year (great player now). The same can not be said about Ron Baker he is a sophmore and has been an integral part of both of Wichita St. runs in the tourney. Not to mention Danny Green wasn’t close to the shooter Baker is now when Green was in college, his shooting has improved so dramatically from college it’s awesome.
I don’t even think the hype for him is that high anymore. I mean ya, he is nice, but last year he was getting way more pub.

King CaluchaParticipantSpot up shooters always have a place in the league. I’d rather spend a late 2nd round on him, rather than an all around, non-specialist player at that stage.

Scrooge McDuckParticipantI never heard any hype. I would compare him to Mike Miller.

JoeWolf1He plays quite a bit like Mario Chalmers. He’s a shooting oriented combo guard, with the ability to make the transition to a point guard. He’s strong, plays good defense, and has solid, but not jaw dropping ability.
I really think in the NBA he’ll be a similar player to Chalmers. A point guard who’s going to spread the floor more than he racks up assists. One that will defend ther perimeter well, and probably a lower tier starter or solid reserve.
