Rockets/Raptors Trade

Got bored so I put my GM hat on.....
Raptors get
Terrence Jones
Carlos Delfino
Scott Machado
Donte Montijunes (however you spell it)
Rockets get
Andre Bargini (You know who I'm talking about)

I see this trade as a win-win for both teams. Rockets get a 2nd/3rd scorer who can take some pressure off of James Harden and Jeremy Lin and it also spaces the floor as both of those players are slashers rather then shooters. They only give up really one rotation player as their front court is rather packed and their rookies are basically playing in the D-League.

For the Raptors they get cap room and some young prospects. Their a rebuilding team and Andre Barginini is not looking good. Obviously he is hurt so this trade would have to be later but I see this trade as a pretty coo trade.

Bargnani is basically the

Bargnani is basically the same as Motiejunas. So the Rockets basically just throw away Terrence Jones, Scott Machado, and Carlos Delfino in this

Dude Motie is very similiar

Dude Motie is very similiar to Bargnani and he is younger and could possible have a higher upside. Houston does not need to make any more move other than to develop chemistry. Lin and Harden are finally playing well together.

Neither team would do it

Rockets wouldn't do it because they give up two first round picks from the last two years for a guy who hasn't really lived up and Raptors wouldn't do it because why trade bargnani for someone who is projected to be another version of him maybe better maybe not you never know. Either way still someone with a similar skillset

Their the same?

Soooo your saying Donatus Motiejunas the same player who was already sent to the D-League THREE times and averages 0.8 points and 0.3 rebounds is the same as Andrea Bargnani who was averaging 16 & 5? Tell me how did you make the comparison between the two? He has barely been in enough for any of you to make that judgement.

Why wouldn't the Raptors do this trade?
1) they get rid of a huge contract
2) they get 3 young prospects who are talented
3) free up cap space for the future

Seems perfect but hey I guess that's why y'all won't gms.

If you knew anything about

If you knew anything about basketball you would know that A.) rookies don't get a lot of PT under Mchale,B.) European players need time to adjust to the much different NBA, bargs was drafted #1 overall and only put up 6 points and 3 rebounds a game his rookie year,C. ) big men take longer to develop than guards and wings, and D.) so what. Bargs is putting up 15 and 6; he is one of the most inefficient players in the leage and is shooting under 40% which is horrible for a guy his size; don't get me started on his rebounding.

Bargarbgi trade value is so low, the Rockets could almost get away with trading Royce White for him...

Yes it wasn't a good trade

Yes it wasn't a good trade for the Rockets but can we stop pretending Motiejunas is as good as Bargnani? Bargnani actually has some decent trade value, everyone knows he is not a 1st option like Toronto tried to make him but he has the ability to be an excellent piece on a championship contender. He needs to go to a playoff team to be a 3rd option or so.

Nobody is pretending Motiejunas is better now. He has every chance to become better than Bargnani once he gets some time to grow in this league. Bargnani has done nothing but gotten worse while Motiejunas will more than likely get better.

Many teams in the league do

Many teams in the league do not consider Bargnani a viable NBA player. The problem is that you have to play him at PF or Center. And that means you get killed on the boards. He brings you stretch shooting, but he doesn't actually hit those shots all that much. He's a career 53% TS% which is about league average but low for a PF or Center. So you give up defense and rebounding and in return get an offensive option that is just kind of meh. Besides Motiejunas, actually all of the rockets PFs can hit jumpers. And Bargnani taking minutes from Asik at Center is never going to happen.

Note how Raptors are winning and competitive while Bargs is out?

Some teams might value Bargs for his shot creating ability, but the Rockets are not one of those teams.

Smh

What Rockets team are you guys watching?!?!? D.Motiejunas has played a total of 20 some odd minutes this WHOLE SEASON. They currently have 5!!!!!!! power forwards ahead of him at the moment. Where is this he can shoot non-sense? Take some time out of your day and watch one of his d-league games. He doesn't really shoot outside of 8-12 feet.

@LeBronsHairline where are you getting your stats. Don't just throw out random numbers and expect people not to check. Bargnani averaged 12 & 4 his rookie season....And you say K.Mchale doesn't play rookies? Alright well next year do you see him playing D.Montejunis over who?
-Patrick Patterson? No
-Marcus Morris? No
-Greg Smith? No
-Terrence Jones? Maybe but I would say no

Soooo who's minuets on this team are you going to take? Smart thing to do whould be trade him as he has some value to teams who are looking to rebuild.

Bargnani's value is not that low.

I definately agree that the original trade idea was too much for Bargs. But I also disagree with many of these posts on how low his value really is right now. If it is as low as everyone thinks, he will not be traded. But most GMs would give up something significant to get a guy with his size and scoring ability.

Everything really depends on how Bargnani and Lowry mesh with the team when they get back. Bargs set a very high standard for himself last season playing in this system. No reason to believe he can't turn it around. The Raps are only now playing like they were supposed to and their early problems were definately not all on Bargnani. I'd say Lowry was as much or more to blame, but pretty much everyone on the team was not doing their job as expected. Did you see Landry Fields play? Or Calderon when he wasn't starting?

No one is likely to be traded until the deadline at this point. Who that is and what value they have really depends on how the team fairs over the next month and a half. 65% chance Bargs is traded, and not for nothing. 50-50 for Calderon.

As a european, i can say that

As a european, i can say that you guys will be surprise if you sleep on Motiejunas. He puts up a good summer league, just need time to develop that's all. Can you tell me where Tony Parker, Manu Ginobili, Nicolas Batum or even Boris Diaw were during their rookie year ? And i mean stats not location, if u check you'll see that youngs europeans often takes a few years to reach their level to an NBA level (except Gasol but this guys was a phenom and his elder brother didn't go to the NBA until 23 (and nearly 24 to be exact)

I believe in D-Mo !

Love the trade. But I'm a raps fan...

Why the hell would Houston make that trade? I'm personally high on both Machado and Jones. At this point anxiety issues be damned, I would still trade Bargs for Royce White straight up, throw in some cash or picks (yes even 2nd rounders). Cody Karl I really hope you aren't a Rockets fan.

As a Raps fan.

I'd take the deal and run. But Bryan Colangelo is too in love with Bargnani. So there goes that trade proposal.
