Rockets Reportedly Sign Jeremy Lin to Offer Sheet

www.thescore.com/home/articles/298796-report-rockets-sign-jeremy-lin-to-offer-sheet

The Rockets have come to terms with Jeremy Lin on an offer sheet. Specific terms of the deal have not been released. As of July 11th, the Knicks will have 3 days to match offer.
New York Knicks restricted free agent point guard Jeremy Lin will visit the Houston Rockets on Wednesday, according to ESPN.
The report indicates that Houston can make a 4-year, $40 million contract offer to Lin where the final 2 years would be worth $15 million per season.
Ironically, the Rockets had waived Lin at the end of training camp in December to make room on the roster for Samuel Dalembert. He subsequently joined the Knicks and became an instant phenomenon, averaging 14.6 points and 6.4 assists in 35 contests last season.

Well, he was reported to be

Well, he was reported to be visiting tommorow, so I don't know, and I can't find it, but there was a tweet from either Marc Stein or Wojnarowski(or Marc Spear or Broussard) disputing those reports, but damn, that's a lot of money, NY will say no, there were reports that I read in Broussard's article yesterday saying that the Knicks would have to think about even 10 million for any year let alone 15 million, ticket sales will go though the roof with Houston's asian population, I like what they're doing, it's very risky, but when you're not a prime FA destination you need to be creative and sort of gritty if you know what I mean, we should've known someone was going to poison pill Lin's contract, but 4 years 40 mil for a one month wonder, even though he is my boy and I know he's gonna be a stud, I'm not so sure, but I have a feeling it will pay off.

Jeremy Lin

At a players stand point, I would rather play against the team that waived me (in Lin's case: Rockets and Warriors) and prove them wrong instead of going back to them. Maybe its because Landry is gone and/or Melo and Stat are too ball dominant, or even the money. NY can endorse him and I liked the fit with him in Mike Woodson's strategies. I did see flashes of him getting 9+ assists during the Linsanity and Melo period, why not work on that period of success they had?

This is like when

This is like when somebody moves on from a short lived girlfriend or boyfriend too early and within a couple months you see he or she living it up with someone else. You come back with the "please baby please" and try and get them back while giving them too much to get them back. To me 4yr 40 mill is a bit steep for a guy that has only proved his worth for a short while.

That is kind of gangster

That is kind of gangster move. Definitely win win. I think the Knicks have to match. But you know they don't want to. Melo doesn't want Linsanity. Amare doesn't want Linsanity. Woodson doesn't want Lin reminding him that Woodson couldn't figure out who one of the best players on the team was. But the fans will go crazy if Lin doesn't come back. And they will run the whole management organization out of town if Lin goes somewhere else and puts up the same numbers.
