Houston Rockets General Manager Daryl Morey announced today that the team has waived forward Jon Brockman, guard/forward Gary Forbes, guard/forward Lazar Hayward, forward JaJuan Johnson and guard Shaun Livingston. Each of these players were parts of trades involving players or picks coming back to the Rockets, all which aided in the recent trade with Oklahoma City to acquire guard James Harden.
Brockman (6-7, 255, Washington) and Livingston (6-7, 175, Peoria Central High School) were both acquired by the Rockets in a trade with the Milwaukee Bucks on June 27, 2012, helping Houston move up to the 12th pick in the 2012 NBA Draft which was used to select Jeremy Lamb.
Forbes (6-7, 220, Massachusetts) came to Houston via trade with Toronto on July 11, 2012, to acquire a future lottery pick from the Raptors.
Hayward (6-6, 225, Marquette) was part of the recent trade with the Thunder.
Johnson (6-10, 221, Purdue) was acquired by the Rockets from the Boston Celtics as part of the Courtney Lee sign-and-trade on July 20, 2012, which also netted Charlotte’s 2013 second-round pick.
The Rockets roster now stands at 15 players.

220ParticipantLazar will probably be on a team shortly. All five of these guys have a decent shot of being on someones roster shortly.

TRC1991ParticipantAm i missing something about Hayward? What has he ever done?
0- Posted on: Mon, 10/29/2012 - 12:51pm #724579
220ParticipantYou’re not missing anything about Lazar. He just has potential to be a useful role player due to his balanced offensive and defensive abilities. His numbers would’ve been better last year if he wasn’t on the Thunder.

MUbballfanParticipantWhat you’re missing is that he went to MARQUETTE.

Seamo15ParticipantJaJuan Johnson being cut disappoints me. I know it was inevitable as soon as he got traded to the rockets, it’s just that it seems like a guy who was originally traded for Marshon Brooks should garner a bit more attention

drk3351ParticipantIm sure Johnson will be on another team soon. The Rockets just have so many PF’s, I mean some people forget he was a first round pick just last year

llperezi was surprised the lakers cut andrew goudelock. he had a nice stretch for them providing offense off the bench. He was one guy who never deferred to any of the starters when it came ot taking shots and being aggressive. He has a great one handed push shot similar to derrick rose when he gets into the lane. Good shooter off the bounce. Just was really bad on defense.

MUbballfanParticipantOn the bright side, looks like DJO from MU made the final cut.

BenchWarmerParticipantJaJuan Johnson is an explosive big with range and a good shooter from the line. No doubt he’ll be picked up. Most of these guys could be useful in the right role.

NCarmean18ParticipantI definitely think that JuJuan Johnson has the best shot out of anyone on this cut list to make a roster. However, I was wondering if you guys thought maybe very soon? With the injuries piling up in Dallas in their frontcourt, can you see them bringing in JuJuan Johnson and at least trying him out at the 5-spot?
Johnson is a big who can shoot from the perimeter, run the floor, play a little defense, and even shoot free throws. With injuries to both Chris Kaman and Brandan Wright, Dallas is having to go with Eddy Curry on opening night. Would you rather see JuJuan Johnson get an opportunity to play center?

PlatypusParticipantDissapointed to see that they cut Shaun Livingston i hope someone picks that guy up, hes a great story and is a good back up point guard

omphalosParticipantWashington should take a look at Livingston, he’d round out their back-up point position well and he can help while Wall is still resting his injury.

joecheck88ParticipantI guess this means Machado made the team? I’m asking you guys. He wasn’t cut already, right?

220ParticipantMachado made the team.

BothTeamsPlayedHardParticipantThe Rockets have paid the equivalent of a max salary to guys to go away. That is some display of asset building.
