With Kevin Mchale as the lead candidate for the head coaching job in Houston, what moves do you think will take place next for the rebuilding team. They obviously have to give up on Yao Ming, Chuck Hayes plays with heart and passion, but is still too small to guard other centers, Luis Scola, one of the best post move players in the league is 30 years old and his ceiling is pretty much where it’s going to be (averaging 18 pts, 7-8 rbs) and players like Kevin Martin and Kyle Lowry could be valuable trade assests for them. They have young players in Goran Dragic, Chase Budinger, Patrick Patterson and Hasheem Thabeet (maybe getting traded to Houston will be great for Thabeet considering Mchale is looking like the next coach and Hakeem Olojuwan loves the franchise, both incredible big men in their time). Opinions?

I think if they have a losing record at the all star break next year they should have a quick rebuild by trading Scola, Martin, Lowry, Chuck Hayas and even Goran Dragic for a lot of high to medium picks.  Next years draft is loaded and if they got 2 lottery picks and another 2 1st round picks they could put together a great core to move forward with.

We’re in a good position to make moves.  We have many tradeable assets and young players that could be pretty solid role players.  We need to give up on Yao but we’re probably going to give him another year.  This year and next year, we will most likely move up in the draft to get a better player.  This year, we may move up to get Biyombo or Valanciunas.  We can also see Houston as contenders for Deron Williams, Dwight Howard, and Chris Paul.

We’re as close to rebuilding as any team will be.  We are one star away from becoming a playoff contender again and we have the tradeable assets to make that move.

The best thing they can possibly do is build on their younger players. Hell,  just trade Scola now for 2012 picks, an expiring, then start Hill/Budinger/Lee with Lowry at the PG, he could be traded at the deadline, then they just keep capitalizing on cashing out assets, and developing young players. Thabeet definetely not ready for starting C minutes, but hopefully he can get there. They can ascend to a high level again, but they have to maximize youth.
