The Rockets have a great chance to sign Carmelo Anthony if they make this trade IMO

    The Rockets trade

Chandler Parsons(who gets resigned in Philadelphia) and Omer Asik(who Philadelphia pays in the final year if his Poison Pill Contract to reach the salary cap minimum)

Thad Young(who comes at a fair price for a starter/6th man and will be retained at a discount in comparison to Parsons) the 32th pick(who can be another steal and non guaranteed contract and Arnett Moultrie(a young body to replace Asik)

I stress the fact the Rockets would shed enough money to sign Carmelo to replace Parsons at SF

Asik gets to start for a year, showcase his Defense for another Team and help bring along Noel in practice, while Parsons gets to spread the floor for MCW and the 3rd Pick of the Draft (Parker or Wiggins)…

The title looked official. How about including "idea" on it? These suggestions get old…

This would only save the Rockets about 5 or 6 million and they will need to get rid of about 30 million to sign Anthony.

Also, the Sixers do not need to be signing free agents at this point unless they are superstars. Chandler Parsons would do nothing for us other than take up our cap space.

I would take Chandler Parsons for Thad and the 39th pick, not the 32nd pick.

The Sixers shouldn’t be looking to get any more 2nd round picks. I am going to say that 5 should be enough for this year.

Also with Harden, Howard and Lin under contract the Rockets don’t have a chance to sign Melo.

Agreed. Melo is a much better fit for a team like Chicago with a defensive mindset. Parsons at least tries on defense. Melo is a great scorer but I don’t like the fit in Houston. I don’t get the rush in Houston. It was their first year together. Give them a chance.

Could you imagine having Harden and Melo on the wing. That would be hilarious on defense.

Speaking of hilarious this is a compilation of James Harden’s defense this past year. It’s as though he doesn’t realize each game is recorded

Dwight Howard would have to morph into the hardest working man in the business to cover for these defensive sieves.

…or the Rockets could just offer that very same package to the Knicks and not have to involve a 3rd, unnecessary team in the transaction.

Here is the real question, what is Chandler Parsons worth on the open market?  Assuming that Houston declines his option this summer so they can control him in restricted free agency (as opposed to him being an unrestricted free agent next year if they accept his option.)  Some team will surely make a run at him, a team with a lot of cap room.  The Lakers maybe?  So if Houston has eyes on Melo, when they already have Asik and Lin on the books, how much can they really afford to match?  Would they match 10+ mil a year for Parsons?  Is he worth that?  What do you guys think?

But he would be worth 10 million to Philadelphia who

    A) Have to Pay someone a good amout of money to reach the Cap Floor and avoid a penalty for being cheap, you can be bad but you can’t be bad and cheap

    B) The 76ers could take on all the weight of Asik’s poison pill contract and/or just trade him to a contender at the deadline (after beating on Noel in practice for half a season)

    C) Sam Hinkie found Chandler Parsons in the 3nd round and the Team needs a shooter/play maker next to MCW/Noel and our 3rd pick (Parker or Wiggins), so Im sure he would lock Parsons up for a long term deal

The Rockets would be dealing away Asik and Parsons with hopes they could land Melo (Lin would still have to moved perhaps)

problems with this deal – Asik didn’t want to back up Howard, so he certainly won’t want to back up Noel. Parsons was a starting SF on a good Houston team, he won’t want to back up Parker if the Sixers take him @ 3.

    1. Noel wouldn’t start with Asik at C, he’d be brought along slowly and given 18-24 minutes at Pf and C

    2. Who says Parsons and Parker couldnt play Sf and Pf respectively with Asik and Noel defending behind them at C…Who is to say that Parson couldn’t play the stretch 4 position?

    3. This is just a hypothetical situation I brought up after I heard rumblings that Hinkie would love to land Parsons no matter who he drafts at 3 and 10(maybe Wiggins falls to us, maybe even Embiid, everyone just assumes the pick will be Jabarri Parker who cam still play with Parsons IMO)
