I was just going over the transactions the Magic made during the Rob Hennigan era, and I found a crazy trade he made. The Magic traded Dario Saric, a 2015 2nd rounder (which became Willy Hernangomez), and a 2017 first round pick (which became De’Aaron Fox).

Rob Hennigan was a terrible GM. He also traded Moe Harkless for a 2020 2nd rounder. He traded Oladipo and Sabonis for what could have been Paul George, but was temporarily Serge Ibaka and now is Terrence Ross.

Yep, Saric, Hernangomez and De’Aaron Fox for Elfrid Payton.

    God I love Hinkie haha

He also gave Biyombo a ton of money. Tobias Harris trade was pretty bad too.

That is not quite accurate. The 2017 first rounder was lottery protected, so if Orlando got it, they would not have received it.

Crazy how fast he cleaned up the previous GM’s mistakes and made his own. I knew things were going nowhere quickly.

I really do feel bad for Magic fans. They have a decent franchise, good fans, smooth marketing with jerseys, and they have always been a big player in FA. Getting TMac, Grant Hill, Rashard, Hedo, Vince, ect. ect.

I feel like if they had better management they would have so much more success.

They haven’t had any lottery luck lately, and that’s the problem with the system. Teams like the Magic are the worst in the league, yet haven’t gotten a single game changing talent in the last 5 drafts, and the one time they did get a top 3 pick, it was in the weakest draft since 2000-01. If Gobert and Giannis didn’t break out that would be the weakest draft in history…

They need to just blow it up, start over from scratch, and hold onto their cap space for a year or two. Now is the perfect time, and they do have assetts they can move to get some pics. Ross, Vucevic, and Payton should all be able to fetch at least a late 1st round pick.
