News came out today that they are two of 4 players competing for the final roster spot on the Celtics. I think RJ has to be on this team, for shooting. But if he is let go, then the Sixers would be a perfect fit for him. But they both havent got chances. I think Young is out of luck. He hasnt worked hard and he does not love the game IMO. He seems to just want to be out there to be in the NBA. Gotta have heart. Young will get another chance somewhere else. Philly being an option with him also. But interesting that the Celtics roster is shaping out this way.

RJ seems to be the guy in the lead like you said in part because he’s only entering his second season.  While he struggled shooting last year he showed flashes of his basketball IQ making nice passes and plays.  Young on the other hand hasn’t shown anything other than good play in the d-league.  I wouldn’t be surprised if Ainge calls around to see if anybody wants to take a flyer on Young to avoid having to eat his contract by waiving him.

Also another one of those four players you mentioned is Ben Bentil who got a $250,000 guarentee in his contract.  I was excited to get him at 51 but he didn’t show much in summer league.  He was trigger happy at times and bad defensively like at Providence.  As of right now I expect him to get cut which would mean the Celtics lose his draft rights.

The Nets will probably pick up one of these guys as well as they’re looking for young guys to give minutes to.  If RJ gets the spot, which I think he will, I wouldn’t be surprised to see both James Young and Ben Bentil in a Nets uniform shortly afterward

the Sixers are a great fit. I don’t disagree with you, but between Young, Korkmaz and Luwawu, I would put Young last. I think the Sixers did a great job picking out those two wings late in the first round. (I REALLY like Korkmaz!). So long term, rather than next year, I still like Korkmaz as their starting 2 guard in 3 years.

Sixer’s wouldn’t grab Young. BC is not that kind of risk taker, he only brings in high character guys. It gives his career a positive spin he’s a company man and doesn’t gamble with house money.

From what Ive seen from him, Young may look the part (including his jumper) but he just hasn’t shown ANYTHING, looks no where near the part of an NBA player right now. Physically, RJ looks so weak out there, I honestly don’t see either of them having strong NBA careers

Yeah really disappointed in James Young, was a big fan of the pick at the time but the dude hasn’t shown anything at all.

He can shoot it, but has no ability to create his own shot so it only takes a guy being somewhere in the vicinity to render him completely ineffective.
