GREAT pick up for the bulls. cant let that man shoot. so when d.rose is breaking down defenses.. rip is gonna be wide open for the wide open shot… and he’ll hit it. so, i love the sign.

Great pick up but I would have rather they pick up Jamal Crawford especially now that his asking price is so low.  Hamiliton does buy them time so they can draft a young 2 guard though.

They should’ve went after Nick Young I think. I stand by that too, he’s younger and a better talent in terms of scoring. Young also can utilize screens, maybe not as well as Rip but still very well. I also think he would’ve been fine in the Bulls current defensive scheme.

This is an upgrade but I don’t think it gets them over the hump. Still would have rather seen Jamal Crawford or nick young. Even think affalo would have been better than rip. they still don’t have a second option type player. They have d rose and a bunch of guys that need d rose to get them in a good spot to score.

I still think J-Rich was the best option. He can create for himself unlike Hamilton and isn’t Young pretty much a chucker?

Young cant play defence for Sh!t  For all of  his talent. Well Rip gets his shots from running  like cazy to get open shots from screens kinda similar to Ray Alen. I like the move though.

I agree. J-Rich is the best option but the thing about him is he’s a RFA so it’s tough for Chicago to really sign him at an MLE…

I don’t know anything about salaries or MLE and amnesty stuff. So if that was the case I see why they didn’t get him, because we agree he was the best fit.

It’s hard to resist a guy like J-Rich… A guy who can create his own shot, make plays and when he does make his three’s, he is virtually unstoppable… and he makes Rose’ job a lot easier… I’d prefer J-Rich anytime…

There are a lot of columnists on here that are confused by this, and just straight up don’t like it.  I however do.  This was the signing the Bulls needed to help them out.  They are a scoring 2 guard away from competing in some of the most memorable Eastern Conference games with the Heat and Celtics.  Rip may not have been the best option, but he is still a good scorer and he is a HUGE upgrade over Keith Bogans and Ronnie Brewer.  Now those guys can come in and do what they need to do to help this Bulls team reach the top.

are you sleeping? J-Rich already sign extension with Magic earlier this month, it was quite a steal for the Magic imo – 4years 25m , to me Rich is one of the most underated player in the league.

Yeah I agree JRich is underrated 4 yrs 25 million is a steal.

Getting Rip was def. an upgrade at SG.
Age could be a conceern at almost 34, Rip has slowed down some the last few years.

No doubt Nick young could use some tutoring on shot selection but he has the ability to create his own shot. Something Rip will not do. Like I said, Rip is an upgrade but I don’t see him scoring 18 a game like his career average. I see him at like 13ppg, and is that enough? Young or Crawford are guys that can get you 20 almost every night by themselves. Now, it is still just Rose vs 5, imo. Like I said, it makes them better but I think there were better options. JRich would have been a good signing as well but he did resign with the Magic.

I think it was also an attempt to add a vet to a young team looking to make a push into the NBA Finals.  Rip is an upgrade from Bogans, an NBA Champ, and a guy who still has some gas left in the tank.  He’s not a long term fix, but I don’t think he’s meant to be either.  The Bulls are trying to win now.

Rip has may lost some speed but in his early to mid 30’s that is to be expected but he is still a good shooter and brings Championship experience to a young team which could be huge come play off time. We don’t expect him to be putting up 20ppg but if he can get near to 15ppg and play good rotation minutes he can do a great job. Also with D-Rose being closely guarded he is a quality shooting option and can even slide across to SF when Deng is benched.

I believe it is a 3 year deal but Chicago generate a lot of money and canh absorb his salary if required and as said above it gives them time to maybe develop a younger SG long term.

They got him for 5 mil….buy that time the way Rose is playing they will get allot of people wanting to play with Rose….. big upgrade plus J Rich wanted allot more … good pick up. Plus he has playoff and championship experience. Two things J Rich does not have.

I didn’t know that until Fizer posted so. I don’t keep up with that stuff, and I just saw his name as an option a week or so ago.

Rip is a winner and has played in big games. He’s not a player that’ll create his own offense, etc but is a solid pickup I guess. He gives the Bulls a shot maker.

I was hoping the Bulls were able to land a guard that could create. Rose will be kicking to Rip no different than he does to Deng, Korver, etc.

Exactly… Though Rip is definitely an upgrade at 2, he isn’t J-Rich, Jamal Crawford nor Nick Young who could create their own offense… But still, I’m optimistic about this deal and I hope it pans out…
