Former Vanderbilt and University of Indianapolis basketball player Dai-Jon Parker is no longer with us. He was only 22 years old.

Unncessary reminder that everyone needs to know how to swim.  Water covers 70% of the Earth’s surface.  Learn to swim.

You’re right, that’s a completely unnecessary comment. He just passed away yesterday…

You’re also suggesting that he can’t swim when no reported facts suggest so. He was tubing behind a boat on a lake when a wave knocked him and another man on the tube into the water. It’s possible the crash disabled him somehow, making him unable to swim to safety. Whether ignorance or satire, this comment is regrettable.

You make a lot of sense. If you cannot swim, and decide to go tubing, you’re definitely using a life vest. I’m assuming he had none on.

perhaps best left to the state’s chief medical examiner. As it’s not likely to be resolved here.

Also, it should be noted that nearly 4,000 people (in the U.S.) drown each year. All of which were tragedies (to someone), regardless of whether the victim happened to play basketball or not.
