benny15Participantbeing reported now by marc stein on twitter, rubio will be sent to utah for a 2018 first round pick(okc’s pick)

SwatLakeCityParticipantOKC’s pick, thats how Utah gets Rubio. Will Hayward stay in Utah now that they have a PG that is a little more reliable than Hill?
I just hope that Rubio will finally solve Utah’s PG woes. They’ve had trouble finding a suitable replacement for Dwill ever since they traded him.
What does this mean for Teodosic? Will he not come to Utah anymore now that they have Rubio? Maybe Brooklyn will get him instead moving D-Russ to SG instead of point.

BleedGreen808ParticipantIs Rubio more reliable than Hill was for Utah last year? I think Utah will miss Hill’s ability to play off the ball and being a threat from 3. Only thing Rubio is better at is his passing.

SwatLakeCityParticipantI haven’t seen Rubio getting injured in Minny. But I guess we will see if he gets injured in Utah or not. Also this could help a lot of Utah’s players to get better, now that they have a pass first PG to get them the ball. I think this will really help Dante become the player that some of us saw back when he was a draft prospect during the 2013-2014 season!!!

BleedGreen808ParticipantAh I thought you meant on court reliability because I don’t think Rubio is very reliable threat on offense outside of his passing. Rubio did have a torn ACL a couple of years ago but has been pretty healthy throughout his career. The qustion is were Hill’s injuries a sign of him breaking down or just an unlucky season.

wonzi_bellsParticipantWell, prior to this season, Rubio was injury-prone in every season of his career.
But for the Jazz who ran a lot of the offense outside of the PG’s hands with Hayward and running PNR with Hood, Johnson, Diaw and even Ingles as the handler, it helps that Hill could space the floor the way he did.
Maybe this is a safeguard for if Hayward leaves, that they’ll have a space out floor for Rubio and if Hayward stays, Rubio’s lack of shooting hasn’t really deterred Minnesota from having good offenses. In 2014, the Wolves had a top 10 offense and these Jazz have better spacing and more offensive options than that team. We’ll just have to see how he’ll be in the playoffs now, assumming they make it.

IndianaBasketballParticipantDoes this mean G Hill is out?
I read rumors there’s mutual interest between the Wolves & Teague. I actually think G Hill would be the perfect fit there.

benny15ParticipantYes and i agree. I think its more than safe to assume hill will Not be a jazz next season. Also feel like Out of all the top free agent points, he would be the best fit next to butler, kat and wiggins in minny. Jimmy butler and derek rose had issues in sharing the ball in chicago and if i were thibs, id keep that in mind when trying to pair him with lowry.
if they do strike out on hill, instead of chasing lowry or teague, id rather minny try and get a combo of serge ibaka and darren collison with their cap space now.

Mr. HookShotParticipantPlugging Hill into that line-up will not only help the offense but also the defense. All tall players with long arms and solid footwork, making switching on defense easy…

SwatLakeCityParticipantOkay Rubio has been injured in Minny before but it was only when he was younger in like 2014 or 2015. After the all star break last year he was able to average 16 points a game and 10 assists. That’s a major uptick from the mere 10 points and 9 assists he was averaging before then when he got hurt. Maybe he’s past those injuries! This was a great trade for Utah, and could be a big factor that lures Hayward to stay in Utah.

lakesidebenParticipantI’m still a fan, but it was time to move on. It was getting embarrassing watching the d play 4 on 5 and jumping passing lanes to deny Wiggins and KAT the ball. I almost felt bad for him trying to decide whether or not to take a wide open shot.

wonzi_bellsParticipantRight, I always thought the ceiling was capped with Rubio on the team once the Wiggins-Towns duo formed. He does great things on the court. His passes are ticks ahead of pretty much any point guard in the league and is a maestro PNR passers. His hands and anticipation are so quick and he’s a rock defensively. Also one of the best rebounding guards in the NBA. But when it comes to putting that thing in the basket, this is where everything crumbles and it hurts you. The name of the game is to score more buckets than the other team. Rubio cannot do so. It was time to break this up. Hopefully, its Hill, Holiday or Lowry and even if it’s Teague as reported, I’m good. You have to try something new with Butler coming in.

TravelinTravParticipantThe only reason this makes sense is because they already have someone else lined up at point guard via free agency, They now an extra 14 million dollars in cap space for free agency. I have a feeling that they’re going to sign Kyle Lowry.

Ahkasi ClayParticipantRubio might not have developed into the player that I wanted him to become, but he has been a favorite of mine long before he was ever drafted and I have wanted him to play on My Jazz for a very long time.
I am totally fanboying out today!

Stop_basketball_nonsenseParticipantGordon leaves in my opinion definitely now, was trading for Rubio supposed to be the signal that the jazz will able to compete for a championship for the next couple years? Seriously Rubio is solid, a better passer and an actual point vs George hill but, still his shooting woes is not enough can’t believe more ppl are not giving their opinion on how they think this will affect Hayward.
Honestly I think the jazz should have waited to see if the suns could get griffin or millsap then traded for Bledsoe now that’s a guy whose talent I could see being more convincing for Hayward to stay. If he stays now their big 3 will be him, Hobert, & Rubio. Damn the jazz have such a high rate of trade failure. hayward should go to Boston.
