Ricky Rubio and possibility of going back to Spain????

I posted this same message on another forum topic, but I wanted to make my message apart of a new forum that I created. This is how I feel about Ricky Rubio.

Okay, I know I might get heat for this, but I am going to say it anyways. Ricky Rubio with his draft antics, doesn't he seem a lot like Steve Francis about 10 years who cried when he got drafted by Vancouver. Rubio has ppl doing it for him, but he truly wants to go to a big market team, but he's not worth it. I think he has an attitude problem and is very immature. He has an unfair advantage where he can go back to Europe and join the league later w/o having to play for the T'wolves. College players can't simply go back to college, and most future professional basketball players dream is to play in the NBA not go to Europe. Some of these top picks are ungrateful.

I respectfully disagree

I respectfully disagree. He is very different from Steve Francis. Francis was pouting the entire time and didn't even attempt to smile, but Rubio was still excited and had good things to say. It wasn't until 5 minutes later when the Timberwolves took Johnny Flynn and David Kahn said "I believe they can play well together" that Rubio was like wtf is going on. Everyone was thinking it. Imagine what it feels like to be Rubio or Flynn

As a Knicks Fan

I hope Flynn demands to be traded, though he seems to classy to do such a thing. I would've loved him in a Knicks uniform, but I think Jordan Hill is the right pick for who was taken already. Also, I still hope the Knicks do not trade away Wilson Chandler, he's superstar bound within 2 years.

As a wolves fan

I think David Kahn is an idiot. He had a chance to really do something and he screwed it up. Picking Rubio was a bad pick from the beginning, he should have know from years aka Yi Jianlian, that the high profile over seas players don't want to play anywhere but a big market. Flynn was a good pick, but they should have reached for Derozan after picking rubio, or better yet not drafted him. I am truly disappointing by this, Kahn gave away foye and miller for nothing if Rubio doesn't play. Rubio better man up and be grateful for his opportunity.

College players can to go

College players can to go Europe also. Ricky can wait because he has boyuot clause in your contract.

In one or two years he is free.

Rubio is a punk

Be graceful you got drafted by a NBA team. I see a Over rated hype kid with a bad attitude, the NBA is not for kids league group up and be a man your farther should shut up and your mom can stay in Spain if she don’t like cold weather. Show up play and let see if you are any good.

I think some of your

I think some of your comments about Rubio are a bit harsh, although I can understand the frustration if you're a TWolves fan.

But put yourself in Rubio's position for a moment. TWolves draft both him and Flynn, c'mon. There's no way they can play together, they're both real PGs, and neither of them can shoot well from outside or guard a SG. So from the get go he's sent a confused message and put in a position of acrimony and failure. They have 2 penetrating PGs without much outside game, 2PFs who also both play in the lane, and no wing players or outside shooters to dish to when they drive, it's a recipe for failure and Minny is likely to be the worst team in the NBA next year unless they make more trades to get a wider mix of skills.

Add to that that Minn is about as non-cosmopolitan an NBA city as there is - there's hardly any foreign community or spanish speaking community, plus it is friggin cold there. He's coming from Barcelona - I've been there and it's a super beautiful mediteranean city on the sea with nice warm weather, a strong international community, and tons of babes and good food.

He sent out signals from the start about what he was looking for, and Minny chose to ignore them at their own risk. Why should he go to a situation he doesn't like if he has other options he likes better?

Rubio would be getting pay to play, not like this is a vacation is a job. They way you make it sound let just have team in warm weather city. If he like Spain that much he should never enter his name on the NBA draft, after all it is a draft right. Not like he was a free agent.

Rubio

Guys he has to personally pay 5.5 million dollars to get out of his contract and leave his team in Spain. And you think he shouldn't be pissed about going to play in Minnesota? I would hate playing there, and on top of that they drafted another point guard and they already have Sebastian Telfair. I don't blame him for going back to Spain, he'd probably be happier and richer there if he stays for the next year or so and then come to the USA so he doesn't have to pay off that fat buyout deal. There are reports though that if he is traded to the Knicks which Donnie Walsh is supposedly working on, he'll come play this upcoming season. Which is smart because he would get the endorsements he needs to payoff the buyout early and be in a program in which he can thrive. Remember, getting drafted 5th instead of 2nd or 3rd lost him an extra million dollars.

some of you are either

some of you are either completely unaware of the situation or you do know it and fake that you don't so you can gratuitiously badmouth ricky. Ricky has not said he won't go to minnesota at all, he has said that he may come back to europe.
reasons :
1- he was the fifth pick and he needed to be the third to get enough money to pay the buyout clause and you know don't be broke for 2 WHOLE years.
2- he has no way of making money in a small market like minnesota outside his contract with the wolves
3 - minnesota got a starting pg with the sixth pick who happens to be exactly the same ball-handling guard that cannot under any circumstance defend a sg or move off the ball.
4 - he may very well be a trading chip right now and minnesota is only waiting for the right offer and he may end up in an even worse situation (like having to battle for minutes against an all star)
5 - he wants the transition from europe to the usa to be as "unshocking" as possible, so he prefers warm weather, nice food and a strong spanish community (I use the word prefers, because he would play in minnesota if he felt he could you know work there while earning enough money to live)
6- if he doesn't play because he does not get enough minutes he would miss the world championship 2010 with spain like sergio rodriguez had to endure with mcmillan last year.
So yeah, he is childish and a bad teammate and whatever you feel like spreading around, but the truth is that he won't work for free for two years in a place were he can't improve and get better through playing just because some random guys think he isn't mature enough (he is frigging 18 btw) .

rubio to the knicks

I don't want Rubio on my team. I feel like he is going to be a cancer, and also if he didn't do what he did in the Olympics he would not get 1/10th of the publicity he gets now and prob wouldn't be drafted until 2010 or 2011. Also, watching his highlights he doesn't impress me that much. I feel like he'll be a 6th or 7th man, not a superstar like a lot of others think.

Rubio is God

Flynn should volunteer to sit on the bench so that rubio can do what he does best. DeRozan would have been a perfect fit. The Timberwolves suck, and always will suck because of moves like drafting Flynn.

Solution: Start Ellington, dont play flynn more than 2-3 minutes, have Rubio be the coach as well as the point gaurd.

im tired of this guy being

im tired of this guy being the focus of the basketball world. he shouldn't have entered the draft if he wasnt going to play for a big market team and couldn't afford his buyout. t wolves shouldn't have drafted both he and flynn but he needs to be happy about being drafted.

Flynn

Flynn is the guy that can play now. How does anyone know how good Rubio will be playing in the NBA? Flynn is a leader and Rubio is flashy. I think the'll make a great one two punch. I believe they will both be playing just as many minutes if they both stay in MN. They can be like Peterson and Chester Taylor of the vikes. You can't tell who's going to be the better pro so you play both untill you figure out who you want as your point. There is no doubt in every GM's mind that Flynn can run a team. Just take a look at the 6 OT game against UConn, he may be small but he probably has the biggest heart of all the guys in the draft. I'll say it now. Flynn is not going to be a bust, he was the only guy 2 years ago that was slowing Mayo down in the High School all star games.
