Krypt14ParticipantI always thought he would be better in the league than in Europe…but my god this guy has unbelievable bball IQ and court vision. I’m surprised at how well he is scoring too. This guy just made the Wolves watchable.

NbanflguyParticipantHe has made the wolves more than just watchable, he has made us competitive

Krypt14ParticipantI just hope he keeps building on what he has done so far, with J-Kidd and Nash gettin old we need a strictly pass 1st PG in the league. (Not sayin CP3 or Rondo arent pass 1st…just dont have the flair of Kidd or Nash)

SwatLakeCityParticipantFor the past 2 years I have said that Rubio was the next Jose Calderon. I knew he could pass the ball well, I didn’t doubt that, but what I did doubt was his scoring and defense. But now this year, I have eaten my words. He’s shooting 42% from three, when I was expecting 20-29%. Averaging 8 assists per game in just his rookie year mind you (I only expected around 5-7) And to finish it all off, he averages 4 boards per game and 1.7 steals per game. Pretty soon he could be avering a double, double in points and assists. He’s still just a rookie, but man the sky is the limit for this kid. Him and Irving are my favorites for Rookie of the Year. Personally I think Irving will win it in the end, but Rubio will always be a favorite to win it.
I apologize for hating on Ricky Rubio.

PurpleMonkeyDishwasherParticipantThis is how it was always going to be… if you didn’t have your bus fare before… walk. It has always been obvious to anyone that knew basketball that he was going to good since Chris Paul said it 3 years ago. He can’t shoot… too slow… can’t play defense… all David Kahn does is draft pt. guards… yada yada yada. We don’t eed you. You probably think Demarcus Cousins for Dwight Howard is a fair deal.

butidonthavemoneyEffing straight.
Honestly, two/three years ago 75% of the forum was crying "He’s just another Sergio Rodriguez!" "He can’t play defense!" "He’s all hype!" "He’ll never play in Minnesota cause he’s a punk-ass baby!"
And I remember all of you…
ALL OF YOU!
I’ve been wrong about plenty before, but half of you didn’t even give this kid a chance before writing him off. Tsk, tsk…
Oh, and I remember you too, Anthony Randolph supporters…

HaleParticipantNoMoney, I will admit to being way wrong about Rubio. I said everything you listed above.

PurpleMonkeyDishwasherParticipantYou are cashing in like always. Bills are being paid by Rubio’s instead of rubles.

NbanflguyParticipantI remember shooting at lifetime and yelling "Rubio!" then purposely air balling 5 footers. Now i just feel foolish

butidonthavemoneyBut at one point you actually mentioned that you weren’t criticizing him because you thought he was a bad player, it was just that you didn’t like him.
I found that refreshing.

PurpleMonkeyDishwasherParticipantWatch the game and it’s players before you make fun. In the early 1940’s would you have made fun of Einstein and his nuclear theories?
0 - Posted on: Sat, 01/14/2012 - 9:24pm #625114
NbanflguyParticipantIf Einstein had a bad shooting % I feel like i might have done just that

DanEboyParticipantI like this PurpleMonkeyDis… guy. He has a way with words that is also refeshing around here.

butidonthavemoney"You are cashing in like always."
Damn straight. I’ve been a Ricky Rubio supporter since day one. Was even called his butt-buddy at one point.
If the forum is sweating now, wait until I bring up Anthony Randolph.

PurpleMonkeyDishwasherParticipantIf I had said what you did I would’ve just been proud to receive the venom Rubio had normally incurred. You knew better about Rubio… but you certainly don’t need me to tell you about it.

HaleParticipantTo be fair, I didn’t think he would be that good either.

PurpleMonkeyDishwasherParticipantAs long as I’ve been on this site the one thing I’ve always tried to be is consistent and sometimes it has been mistaken for abrasiveness… but it’s still important to have fun with it either way.

butidonthavemoneyWho in their right mind drinks Yoo-Hoo hot?
That’s a disgusting advertisment and I choose to censor it from this site.
Also, DanEboy, thoughts on the Pineda/Montero trade. Not feeling great about it myself.

PurpleMonkeyDishwasherParticipantI have a Mickey Mantle ad from 1957 that looks very similar to yours that I have been too cheap to frame for over 10 yrs. now… but I’m still working on it and it will be cool when it’s done
0 - Posted on: Sat, 01/14/2012 - 9:38pm #625126
DanEboyParticipantGreat trade…for the Yankees. But, the Mariners have Taijuan Walker, who is almost ready to beast, and Hultzen, who is even more almost ready to beast. Plus Paxton is almost there too. They have plenty of pitching, needed some offense. Montero’s bat is sick but he will be a DH since he can’t play defense very well. And they have the second third pick in the draft. My prediction- Byron Buxton, 5-tool outfielder who looks like Justin Upton in every way.
0 - Posted on: Sat, 01/14/2012 - 9:39pm #625128
DanEboyParticipantThe third pick, not the second third. That makes no sense, sorry.

butidonthavemoney"As long as I’ve been on this site the one thing I’ve always tried to be is consistent and sometimes it has been mistaken for abrasiveness… but it’s still important to have fun with it either way."
I’m lost.
What’s happening? I thought we were praising me.
yupyup – It looks like you missed one then. At least you were cool about it.
To make things fair, I wasn’t a big fan of Stephen Curry playing point guard. Just couldn’t see him handling that position at all. Totally wrong there. Still not sure what the hell happened. Did he just suddenly learn, or did he always have it in him and I couldn’t see it?
I lose sleep over this…
0 - Posted on: Sat, 01/14/2012 - 9:48pm #625132
butidonthavemoneyYeah, that’s pretty much the consensus.
I was initially horrified, as generally speaking, right-handed hitters come to Safeco to die. Montero has good opposite-field power though, so we’ll see. I’m hoping for one of Appel or Giolito in the draft, but Buxton has appeal too.
Just to get back on-topic: Ricky Rubio is dreamy.

PurpleMonkeyDishwasherParticipantOnly speaking of my own short comings… I’m crabby most of time that I post and it comes out that way. I’ve always got a kick out of your rants but you don’t need additional praise from the likes of me… As of this weekend I am a John Stockton fan trying to teach my 13 yr old pt guard son how to share the ball with kids who have never been taught the proper way to handle the ball when passed too because the coaches such.
