prophetmeirParticipantRumor has it that Richardson had one of the best workouts so far, even canceled lottery workouts. Would be interesting to see where he lands, some reporters state that he could be top 10. Not sure what team picks him maybe Sac?

machu46ParticipantI’ll be shaking my head at anyone that takes him in the top 10. As I had mentioned back around the combine, his strange rise reminds me of Dion Waiters. Dion cancelled his workouts and suddenly everyone believed he had a promise from a team in the top 10 or so when in reality, I believe we found out it was a late-lottery team.
I wouldn’t even take him in the top 20 personally, and I’m a Syracuse alum.

VRod305ParticipantThe Cavs (stupidly) took Waiters fourth overall. If Richardson goes that high, it will definitely be a mistake. He does nothing worth a top-10 pick

DukeDaSquadParticipantHe has a legit chance to be a good player but all this huge rise is setting him up for is a huge fall.

BiggysmallsParticipantMan if that dude can get himself drafted in the lottery, good for him and well done by his agent. That’s some mighty fine selling.
Richardson is a nice prospect but he wasn’t that good this past year at Cuse. He’s got the prototypical "3 and D" look to him but he’s not really all that good at either one yet. So what exactly is his trump card? What’s he do that a guy like Taurean Prince doesn’t do?
He just seems like a dime-a-dozen type guy at this point and you are essentially hoping that he’s just a 6’6 210 pound ball of clay that you can mold into a role player.

dcaseParticipantSome of his physical measurements have some GMs high on him…..7 foot wingspan and had some of the largest hands at the combine. Addtionally, he shot the lights out at his personal workouts yesterday.

goldie92689ParticipantYou haven’t watched him if you think he is 3-D. Mal is a shot creator that relies on his Jimmy first. He has an array of iso moves to get his shot off which is not typical for a player his age. He is a legit NBA 2 guard(not just a wing), Prince is not a 2. If he went back to school he would have started at the off guard position and would have been the primary scorer.

BiggysmallsParticipantI hate when people do this, but I’m gonna do it partly because he burned us TWolves fans, but Wes Johnson had a huge wingspan, and I recall him shooting the lights out in workouts too.

goldie92689ParticipantWes Johnson could not create his own shots while he was in college. He was drafted on stats.

HitsterParticipantHe has the ability to go higher than mid first round if he has some goof workouts and a team in that draft range want a swingman given he is surrounded by a number of bigs and other guys who play his position in that draft area could be more unknown quantity Euro guys.
Good point about Wes Johnson above, interesting to note he is nearly 29 now! but to be fair although he was drafted far too high he has stayed in the league and played decent minutes as a bench guy for a strong Clippers team.

BasterdInABasketParticipantPlease don’t let it be the Bucks. Yes they need scoring and shooting but I didn’t even see first round talent when I watched him this year.

machu46ParticipantYeah, I’m a Cuse alum and a Bucks fan and that report that he could go top 10 made me a bit nervous. I doubt Milwaukee considers him though. He just doesn’t make sense with the trio of Middleton, Giannis, and Jabari.

RUDEBOY_Participantkind of funny that he’s only known for his outside shooting..but he’s also a great finisher ,he shot 58% at the rim..but only 22% on 2s….i heard a guy on the radio that was talking about this year’s draft prospects, compared him to klay thompson…i wouldnt mind if memphis take him at 17, only if dejounte murray is gone..

machu46ParticipantUsing DraftExpress’ mock draft, among the top 41 picks, Malachi is dead last among wings in terms of finishing at the rim. For comparison’s sake, he beats out 140 lb Tyler Ulis by 0.3% and Malachi is roughly 7% worse than the average. He’s a relatively terrible finisher around the rim, as well as being horrific from mid-range.
The list:
Simmons 75.2%
Bembre 69.1%
Beasley 68%
McCaw 66.1%
Jamal Murray 65.5%
Prince 64.5%
Buddy 64.1%
Jaylen 61.6%
Brogdon 60.5%
Valentine 60.3%
Ingram 58.8%
Malachi 58.1%

HitsterParticipantIf the Bucks are after him, surely they might look to trade down a few spots to get him, Phoenix at 13 would seem a possible target or even Boston at 16 who both have multiple picks might look to consolidate.
Interestingly Richardson is listed at 14 on this sites latest draft so has he impressed the Bulls think tank in the Windy City I wonder?

BiggysmallsParticipantSomeone on the radio compared him to Klay Thompson most likely because Thompson is the only good SG left playing right now. You do that, you get people’s hopes up and they’ll listen to your show more.
Every undersized PF is going to get compared to Draymond Green and every big white PF is compared to Kevin Love. A SG that has a nice looking stroke and less than elite athleticism is going to get the inevitable Thompson comp because if it works out, they look like a genius with amazing forsight.
