Probably a smart decision.

Probably a smart decision. Both players' physical gifts are better shown off in game situations, as I doubt either would have particularly great numbers. Parker especially could hurt himself a litte with poor agility time and a relatively poor vertical, as he relies more on length and aggressiveness rather than hops to dunk.

The players and their agents

The players and their agents will know what their likely draft positions are and will arrange meetings with the relevant teams. It will be interesting to see once the draft lottery is over how many teams the big 3 - Embiid, Wiggins and Parker meet with. I would fully expect the team which gets top pick to have all 3 guys in plus I'd expect all 3 guys to meet with each of the top 3 teams. But beyond that it gets interesting.

Lets just say the draft order remains static, could we have a big 3 player maybe not wanting to work out for Utah but possibly going to work out for the Lakers for example.

Realistically I'd expect all the big 3 to work out for at least the top 4 teams, as the guy going 3rd would surely want a back up option. And we will probably know the draft order a lot clearer when we get towards workouts.

I just hope Wiggins

I just hope Wiggins participates which may be doubtful because he can win scouts over in favor of him over Parker.

Embiid missing the event

Embiid missing the event could be a concern....Both Embiid & Parker are represented by the same agency BJ Armstrong and Arn Tellem...Embiid havent been cleared for full contact workouts yet, that could the reason why his agents advised him to skip the event...

Parker had a foot injury in high school, but shows no lingering effects from during his time at Duke....

I thought most players attend

I thought most players attend but then only do the athletic tests and then sit out the drills. Who are some other guys that just completely skipped on even attending in the past? I'm honestly curious.

There really should be no

There really should be no excuse for Parker to miss the combine except for an injury. There are legitimate concerns about his quickness and athletic ability and he would have a chance to squash those concerns with a solid workout at the combine ala Harrison Barnes...

Nope. Jabari has nothing to

Nope. Jabari has nothing to gain by measuring out shorter and heavier than common wisdom holds. Probably 6'6" flat or 6'6.5" at the very tallest without shoes, and probably 245-249.99 lbs. The only test he might not disappoint in would be vert. Jabari's stock depends in part on a perception that he can play some power forward, and measuring out sub 6'8" in shoes won't help him at all.

Parker was measured at 6'6"

Parker was measured at 6'6" without shoes way back in 2010 and was measured at 6'8.5" in shoes at the Kevin Durant camp last year. I highly doubt he is under 6'7" without shoes. His reach actually impressed me while he was at Duke.

You are right, though, that his measurements could be unfavorable. He plays a lot like a modern PF, but his listed height/length measurements are like those of a SF. And I suspect his athletic testing would be fairly mediocre, as he seems to get by more on his high skill level and excellent anticipation than on his run/jump athleticism.

NBA teams aren't drafting on

NBA teams aren't drafting on athletic ability alone. Some players can be a beast on the court but suck at athletic testing, would still be interesting to see what those players get and how they compare to the rest of the class. Embiid I might understand having some concerns with his injuries but for Parker and Wiggins it's just disappointing, and if they choose not to work out for certain teams and effectively say where they want to be drafted then that's just disappointing as well. Seems a bit close-minded to go into the draft acting like you're better than a small market team when you haven't even played a game in the league yet. Teams are going to find out weaknesses one way or another, bypassing the combine will do nothing but hurt their stock.

Dougie looks like he'll only

Dougie looks like he'll only get measured in the combine but wont participate in the drills. okay move for him, anyone whose interested in drafting will most likely not focus on his combine numbers anyways since his lack of athletic abilities are already well documented.

Jabari Parker

Don't really understand the Jabari Parker not attending the draft combine. But his game isn't based on his athleticism it's based purely on his skill and power so him not attending the combine won't hurt him at all.

Andrew Wiggins

I would have liked for him to attend the draft just to see his physical measurements and his athletic results but everyone knows he's a phenomenal athlete regardless. Curious to see how the combine plays out for Dante Exum, Julius Randle, and Marcus Smart.

All eyes

on Exum and Randle. Thats a lot of pressure if Exum goes through the drills I wouldnt be suprised if he skips them to be honest. I think Randle will be trying to show the rest of his game nanely range. Hes in a good situation to possibly gain positive exposure.Time will tell. Smart also to lesser degree.
