    I have a bright idea…

Lets ay just for the sake of my arguement the Knicks target Lebron, Bosh, Stoudimire, Johnson and fail to acquire any of those players…What do you suppose they should do…

I think it would be wise for a team in that position to go find quality young players imn Free Agency and PURPOSELY put a LOSING TEAM on the court. Instead of plan B targetting Boozer, and Allen it should be targetting Harrison Barnes and Marquis Teague in the next two drafts.Houston does not own those picks they own the rights to swap Top 5 protected and 1st overall protected. Why dont they just clear their salary and draft young players.Theyve been out of the playoffs for years and years.Maybe its time to do this properly.

I agree, the Knicks have traded most of their draft picks so if they don’t get any on those guys(unlikely), I agree they should rebuild. Right now they only really have one good young player(Gallinari) as I don’t see Chandler doing much.

They’re trying to pull off what the Celtics did but if that doesn’t happen they need to go the route of Portland and OKC.

yeah I’d def just throw games get the worst record and get a top 4 at least every year. Barnes and Teague would do work together if they max out their potential then get some players around them. The New York Knicks shouldn’r be like the Yankees and try to buy players they should just develop their own talent from the ground up. I would start this year by getting Lance Stephenson and just letting him do his thing then get a BIG and hopefully he develops but building through the draft seems like the way to go.

knicks wont do this because of

    A. they dont have any future first rounders
    B. even though theyre protected the potential gamble to throw a season and still lose in the lottery would suck
    C. the class of 2011 still presents a great group of FA’s in which to build around..

I don’t think they should throw games to get into the lottery, but if they fail to land any of the big-name free agents they won’t really have to.

I do agree that without a top-tier FA, getting a guy like Boozer doesn’t make much sense; unless challenging for the 8th seed every year is your ultimate goal. Having put all their eggs in this basket, it might be a while before they get that ship righted if they strike out this year; something I pretty much expect.
