The Real X-Factor of the Bulls/Heat Series

Keith Bogans

When Bogans scores a measly 6 points or more....

Bulls are 31-2, 5-0 in playoffs.

Less than 6 points....

Bulls are 39-21, 3-3 in playoffs.

If he gets 9 points.....Bulls are unbeatable...12-0.

Amazing stat.

Now imagine if instead of

Now imagine if instead of Bogans, a reliable, consistant 2-guard that plays on both ends in his place. (Afflalo perhaps?) This would most definatley put the Bulls on top without a doubt.

Do the Bulls have the Cap room for Affalo...that would be great.

He would be a perfect fit for them in my eyes...who knows maybe they trade Asik and their 2 draft picks for OJ Mayo(doubt it after these playoffs)

I would keep a tight grip on

I would keep a tight grip on not only Asik, but Taj Gibson as well. Both Joakim Noah and Carlos Boozer are not reliable to play an entire season, and Taj and Asik are great defenders.

Yep! Trade a 7 foot 260 pound young 24 year old center who plays hard, hustles, rebounds and tries to dunk everything around the rim for a dime of dozen undersized shooting guard. That's the thinking that wins championships lol.

Chicago’s Mozgov! You can’t trade someone who can’t catch a pass, has zero range, is a walking defensive three second violation, and is only good defensively when he isn’t fouling people!

Asik is a big body, nothing more. If a team can’t find a big body that is just as capable as Omer Asik, they need to clean house.

If Chicago can swap a 1st

If Chicago can swap a 1st rounder and Asik for Mayo, I'd do it.

But, I think the bigger X-Factor is: which role player is gonna step up for Miami every night.

BTPH I dont think you have

BTPH I dont think you have been watching Asik play n this series at all. This guy is a smart physical player with good mobility and court awareness. He plays the system well and does his jon. Even if h just is another Zaza Pachulia, Jeff Foster, etc. type utility Center ask around and youll realize teams are happy to have those players, while other teams desperatly need that type of guy to fill the paint on their team. Not only that but he is just 24, and he is 7'1. Give him his credit with the solid play he has given Chicago defensively, he is definitely no liability.

I have seen him plenty, and I

I have seen him plenty, and I can spot a limited player who is overpraised for playing with a superstar. He is a second unit center whose value is being big. That is fine. Fesenko had a couple nice playoff games for Utah last year. They are easily replaced.

BTPH....weren't you all in

BTPH....weren't you all in favor of the Bulls trading Deng, Noah and Taj for Melo?

Best move Pax did was not pulling the trigger on that alleged trade.

Still am, what is your point?

Still am, what is your point? The Bulls are good because Derrick Rose is the MVP and one of the five best talents in the game. He has a team around him that would be in the lottery if he wasn't there, and my point is that people shouldn't fall in love with those guys simply because they share the same uniform as Derrick Rose.

My point is that all 3 of

My point is that all 3 of those guys are playing huge roles for the Bulls and the Bulls aren't good simply because of Rose.

Deng is playing great defense and solid offense all season, especially of late.

Taj is a very good defender who is fundamentally sound on offense.

Noah is the energy to that team....I know how much you oppose the idea of a player bringing energy to a team.

This is a team, Rose is the undisputed leader of it but their chemistry together is unmatched as a unit right now.

And Tezo is right, you don't

And Tezo is right, you don't trade a 7' defensive big man who is still just learning the NBA game for an average 2 guard.

If we removed Derrick Rose

If we removed Derrick Rose and replaced him with a average point gaurd, like Mike Conley? Chicago wouldn't win 35 games.

And I'm sure Heat fans are thrilled with their team's chemistry right now with Joel Anthony, Juwan Howard, James Jones, Zydrunas Ilgauskas, and Mike Bibby surrounding LeBron and Wade. Maybe even Bosh. Maybe.

Yeah, except this team has been building it for 2 years now. I can't wait for this series to start.

No. The Bulls have ten

Well, the Bulls have ten players who weren't on their roster last year, and of the five who were one is Jannero Pargo. The Heat have five returnees too, actually six, so by that logic they have been building for two years as well.

During the Noah for Melo trade talks, you were quick to say Asik could step in the starting lineup and fill Noah's shoes. Now you think he's just a big body?

If by Asik you mean Kurt Thomas, yes. The Bulls were fine when Noah was down and they were starting Boozer and Thomas just as they were solid last year when they had Brad Miller in the game as opposed to Noah. Thomas is 38 so he isn't a long-term answer, but if they had gotten Melo it would have been easy to find capable role players going forward. Bit players, role players, energy guys can always be found.
