” Powell possesses off-the-charts leaping ability and athleticism. He also has a never-ending motor and competes with fire and intensity on both ends of the court. His athletic ability allows him to guard almost anyone on the court. His intensity and desire can sometimes get the best of him and make him commit unnecessary fouls, but you do not want to take that intensity away from him and limit his effectiveness. Powell has quick leaping ability which makes him a great offensive rebounder and incredible weak-side shot blocker. He gets unbelievable lift on his jumper — almost too much — and he ends up releasing his shot on the way down. He also sometimes drops his hand instead of holding his follow-through on his jumper. His aggressive style of play and athleticism makes him favorably compare to former Virginia Tech G/F Deron Washington, though Powell will have stronger body in college than Washington did. Powell has a huge amount of upside and has interest from schools such as Fresno State, San Francisco, Kentucky and Stanford.”

Damon Powell. Google him, YouTube him. He’s mad sick.

That eval is from ESPN 3 YEARS AGO!!! He signed with Fresno state in 2009 recruiting class, but never went. He then committed to Minnesota but never went and then (old, but still more recent than your comment)…

Damon Powell no longer playing at Los Medanos College

One-time Fresno State recruit Damon Powell, whose ‘hops’ rival those of anyone, is no longer playing for Los Medanos College. the 6-foot-5 Powell needed to shore up his academics, hence his not being in Fresno. We will try and find out if he is still attending school or if that has ended also.

Couldn’t get his grades up- Now bringing his "Sickness" and "mad hops" to the land of Henry Bekkering-Canada.

Many thanks to Alex Freeman for discovering this — former McClymonds star Damon Powell has surfaced with the Halifax Rainmen.

He has workouts scheduled with “many teams interested in explosive athleticism” and his agent said he’s declaring for the draft.

What team wants a 6-5 PF JUCO drop out? James White never even got a shake in the L and he is a 6-6 elite defender. Good luck in Canada or Australia. I’m not knocking it either. Playing ball is playing ball, just don’t look for him the NBA…ever.

He had some serious hops,If he ever developed a jumpshot he would still be in the nba same for gerald green. If all this guy has is explosiveness then he will go undrafted, or if he gets drafted and be out of the league in a year or two.

You stated teams like his potential, bu There probably turned off by his work ethic and commitment. It looks he relies on his athlethic ability too much, and get bounced college to college is not a good look. What would you think of a player who bounces around schools only to get dismissed or leaves for the same reason. Yeshe is basketball player but he is a student athlete, grades are part of the job description.
