Whats up guys. I saw some people talking about becoming a scout and saw someone mention Mark Cuban. I wrote him discussing a reality tv show about young guys like us competing for a scouting posistion. I have a few ideas but I spoke for everyone in saying we were interested in it. If you guys have any good ideas so we can impress Mr.Cuban tell me and I will share it with him. He wants to know why people would watch such a show.
I would be down. People would watch it because it's Cuban, basketball, and reality which makes for a good combo.
Sounds fun to draft geeks but I would also like to know how it would be a successful show.
It doesn't really appeal to a mass market. It is also complicated because the draft only happens once a year and there is a long period of nothing after the draft through the start of the season.
On the other hand, it would could be great publicity for the prospects and all the footage of the players would be great for draft junkies.
I don't know if it is possible to make a reality show with a winner and a prize like that. Perhaps a perspective documentary on prospects and what the fans think of them (teams would be very interested in that). Maybe a news show with draft rumors and scouting reports.
I think it would increase NBA and draft popularity. I think the players that are shown on the show would gain a following similar to fighters in the UFC that were on TUF. People become emotionally involved with the players and therefore, follow them throughout their careers. The competition between the scouts will also draw interest from a broad fanbase.
I mentioned the reality show as a half joke never thinking it would take off. I was also the one that mentioned that Cuban responds to his email and someone should contact him. I think I've done my part. Just give me the Emmy, : )
Seriously, the show would obviously not be on NBC in primetime. It would have to be on NBA-TV who does some reality/documentary. Cuban snd sponsors would be able to put up prize. Maybe instead of money it would be a jr. executive position with Mavs. How's that for another idea! I think serrious hoop fans would watch it. Have you seen some of the other garbage shows clogging the airways.
