The Washington Wizards reached out to Ray Allen and is interested in signing him.

He would be a great signing for the Washington Wizards and to have him mentor Bradley Beal will be fantastic. I believe they have a realistic shot at signing him due to them being a playoff team, Paul Pierce being there, and an opportunity to play good minutes. Unlike Cleveland you have both Mike Miller and Shaun Marion as the backup wings. So I say it’s a open race to land the future hall of fame with the Cleveland Cavaliers, Los Angeles Clippers, Dallas Mavericks, San Antonio Spurs, and now the Washington Wizards now in mic.

    Thoughts………

They are a playoff team, but I think more rings should be the top priority on Allens list and the Wizards just don’t make the cut. The future is very bright for the wizards, but there are much better situations for Ray Allen.

with you. Allen wants the best situation for him to compete for a last ring, and the Wizards right now have a strong future but I believe they only have a shot for a Eastern Conference Semi final (and compete strong enough to scare the finalist). I said go to the Spurs and return what you "stole" from them in the 2012 Finals with that 3pt. There will be plenty of options for him to shoot due to the Spurs’ passing style of basketball and he could also help Danny Green to stablish himself as his replacement as one of the best shooters in the game (not all-time though).

Ray Ray could ultimately go to any team and contribute.  He’s the ultimate professional, crazy work ethic, great teammate and always ready to come off the bench and contribute.  He is still clutch with that beautiful jumper of his.  If he wants another ring, Spurs, or Cavs.  If he wants to be a mentor to another up and comer who has a chance to be one of the all-time great shooters, the Wizards are the perfect place for him.  Beal would benefit greatly from having Allen around, even if it was just for one season.

Best fit would be OKC.  He would be the "fourth option" behind Durant, Westbrook, and Ibaka.  I think that OKC’s size, length and athleticism would give the Cavs trouble.  He could be that guy to break other teams down by really stretching the defense.

OKC is not on his radar though.

With Ray Allen, the Thunder would have two 25-35 point scorers in Durant and Westbrook, a 15 point guy in Ibaka, and a few guys who can get you 10-12 a night with Ray Allen, Reggie Jackson and (in my opinion) Steven Adams.

The Cavs have shooters and scorers.  They need wing defenders and a rim protector.

I would like to see how Coach Pop would use Ray Allen off the bench.  They could throw out a bench of Manu, Ray Allen, Boris Diaw, and Kyle Anderson.  That would be a really fun bench unit to watch, especially when (if) Patty Mills comes back.

Ray Allen’s second best fit (behind the Thunder) would probably be the Bulls.  They have some top shelf all stars, some scorers, and defense, but they could use another shooter and some depth at the 2.  They could start Ray Allen at the 2, and slide Butler over to the 3 spot, and use McDermott as their sixth man.  I could actually see Ray Allen putting the Bulls over the top.  Just feels like they need another shooter/scoring option.  His veteran savvy and championship experience would help too.
