RUDEBOY_ParticipantThe Toronto Suns newspaper kicked off the NBA Playoffs by TROLLING Nets veterans 37 year old Kevin Garnett & 36 year old Paul Pierce, with a Raptors vs Dinosaurs headline on their frontpage…..And the Nets responded by posting the newspaper headline in their lockerroom….. _ In this age of everybody being buddy-buddy and hugging before games, its great to see teams talking smack at each other..

TimeForNineParticipantUjiri deserved executive of the year again just for the pregame F*** Brooklyn speech. Love to see some fire and intensity that’s lacking in today’s game.

HaleParticipantHow did Garnett averaging under 7 and 7 go so under the radar this year?

RUDEBOY_ParticipantI Guess everybody gave KG a pass becuz he missed so many games due to injuries..The Nets dont expect much scoring from him they’re looking for leadership, rebounding and to anchor the defense..
But going forward his age and career low stats across the board should be discussed in the off season when they’re looking to make adjustments to their roster for next season……

OhCanada-ParticipantWorst case scenerio for Toronto. Derozan got completely taken out of this game, byfar his worst game of the year. Thought he would show.more toughness, damn.
Pierce iced this one, dix points in the final two minutes and good defence.
Valanciunas got clogged up in the psint and turned the ball over rather easily all game once the Dinos adgusted to him.
Raps played young and inexperienced. Growing pains hurt.

Rip255Big away win for the nets. This is the play-offs. Those savvy vets have been saving themselves all season for this.
Aside from Miami, I think Brooklyn was the team that cared least about the regular season and figured they’d just turn up for the playoffs.
If this ends up being a short series, that will make a huge difference to Brooklyn’s chances of winning the East. A fresh Brooklyn vs Miami is a much more scary prospect than if they grinded out a 7 games series on old legs against the Raptors.

HitsterParticipantNot a hugely intelligent newspaper headline if you wanted to stoke up the Nets for this game.
The Nets after a terrible start to the season, losing Lopez after only 17 games, having KG, AK-47 and D-Will all out for long spells somehow turned things around as Jason Kidd found his feet as an NBA coach and got to 44 wins and 5th seeding.
KG has only played 20.5mpg this season so that has helped to reduce his stats a lot. I agree that he was wanted by the Nets for his leadership and defensive play mainly.
Going forward with Paul Pierce being a free agent, it will be interesting to see what he does, he’s 37 in October and just joined 25,000 point club so could easily call it quits and would easily get a leading media role or likely be offered a job within the Celtics franchise. The Nets will easily offer him more money than any other team to play on but other teams could sell a more attractive pitch to him.
If PP did retire or move on then I wonder what KG would do, he turns 38 next month and as a very proud man would perhaps not want to play on another year if he was only getting minimal minutes per game and age was catching up with him. When we consider that KG is 5th on all time total minutes list, the guy has a load of miles on the clock, so could easily decide to call time.

TallmanNYCParticipantNets missed 19 threes in a row in that game and still won. Missing that many threes in a row might be a record. The missed threes and Jonas getting a bunch of tip in offensive rebounds is basically what kept the Raps in this game. D. Casey is not much of an offensive coach, so don’t expect some sort of miracle adjustment that allows the Raps to score 100 points in the next game. And don’t expect the Nets bench shooters, sitting with a comfy stolen road win, to come out that cold in game two. Also, don’t expect Plumlee to pick up five fouls so quick next game. He makes a huge difference to the Nets offense as Jonas has to body him the entire possession or give up the chance at an oop. That is what allows JJ to plod his way to the hoop without a double team coming.
This could get ugly and ugly quick.
