OhCanada-ParticipantMaybe a little early but I must say, Raps are really clicking out there. They are offensivly sound and playing great D. Bargnani doesnt have to rebound because Evans gets every single board available, its crazy how hes reounding.
Bargnani is just killing Cousins early in this game I think hes gonna drop 30-40, and Derozan engaged the offense about 3 times in 5 sets. Im impressed this maybe a playoff team un less they run out of steam.

dmo21ParticipantThe Raps may not have the best players, but this team fits pretty good together, I think they will start earning some respect, but still wont be that good.

OhCanada-ParticipantJust saying the team is definitely playing hard and shouldnt be slept on. Which is actaully not good because we are gonna probally get stuck picking around 10-16 again.

OhCanada-ParticipantLol you guys keep saying that but if you watch the games you can tell this is a better team then last year. With that said its true many teams can say that, but dont count them out. Derozan is solid, Evans is rebounding, the bench is solid. They are gonna overachieve. BTW Derozan is getting better and better every game, just made a disgusting block on Evans.

OhCanada-Participantnot better talent thats not what im saying, I mean they are a better team as in chemistry and work ethic. As far as talent thats not even close but this year they are getting much more out of their talent.

suddsParticipantI’ve been a Raptors fan since day one ( being from Ontario, Canada). I too felt we should have moved Bosh for something of value as well. I don’t think we would have ever won with him, unless he had miraculously somehow coaxed one of his superstar buddies to join him in TO. Bosh just isn’t a superstar, not the kind of player you’d build around. He’s solid, but complimentary, and the Miami situation is the perfect situation for him to win big.
I’m sure selling tickets would have been enough of a motive for the management to re-sign him, but I as a fan want a championship or three! The only way to do that if you’re Toronto is to build from the draft, luck out like Cleveland, or OKC did, and then not screw it up a la Cleveland. I honestly don’t believe that a single player on the team right now is going to be part of a championship here, when and if it happens. However I do believe in Colangelo as the best basketball mind we have had here to run things, and we are fortunate he puts up with the ridiculous media that drives players, and personel alike mad in TO. I think maybe he was thinking addition by subtraction in letting Bosh walk, in that we tank and get another number one the next year or two, and get a true difference maker to build around. I just hope Brian C sticks around that long to see us through.
So here’s praying he trades away every valuable commodity on the team for picks, and real pieces to build around.

OhCanada-ParticipantSudds you dont just get to winning a championship with "Lottery Picks" and "Cap Space", you have to build the team through hard work, and desire within the system the way Jay is doing it now. Its early in the year and they are young, lets face it they are one of the least talented teams in the NBA, but this is the hardest working team Ive ever watched since maybe 2001 with Carter, Oakley, Clark, Williams etc. Now if they gt a top 5 pick while playing this hard then we got something going otherwise youll just end up like Minnesota.
Im crushed in this game so far. Raps down by 4 4th qaurter and they were up by like 20. They seemed to have absolutely cracked under the pressure that the crowd was applying. The fans honestly got the Kings players playing confident aggressive and hard, and got the Raps players playing timid.

OhCanada-ParticipantAndrea Bargnani deserves to be released from his contract straight up after a 4th qaurter performance like this. He has 2 rebounds all game and Im willing to bet my left nut that DeMarcus Cousins has more OFFENSIVE REBOUNDS IN THE 4TH QAURTER THEN Bargnani all game! Just a disgusting performance all together.

BasketBalAllanParticipantDonte Greene has not been playing much latley because Francisco is playing well and Omri Casspi looks like he is becoming amazing!

suddsParticipantI certainly realize how winning teams are built. I’ve been around to watch the "Unstopabulls", the Rockets, Spurs, Lakers, Lakers again, and all the would be’s of the Jordan era. They all had at least one, usually two, and sometimes three stars.
The Raps have none in sight. If any of these players moved to a contender they would be role players at best. I wish they would ship Bargnani for Oden or something risky like that. You can’t have a C/PF that can’t play defense, or rebound. Everyone else is expendable in search of players with more upside/picks to build properly with. Lottery and drafting is exactly how you build a winner if your a team that players don’t want to come and play for really. The media and previous management has seen to that. Talent wins out. When you have talent, then you can bring in a decent coach, and system, which btw …I don’t think Triano is anywhere near. Coaching our crummy national team to nowhere isn’t really anything. Triano was a publicity move to appeal to fringe basketball fans in Canada which is the only place where his name holds weight.I look forward to seeing Triano gone with the rest of the team.
Instead of arguing let’s all talk ways the Raps could hope to improve their team by making some trades/ hiring?
Here’s a list that I think is pretty realistic of guys the Raps could make a deal(and I’d be a lot more excited to build around) for considering whom they have to offer, not including some teams that might give a 1st rounder for a player:
Paul George, Mario Chalmers, Javale McGee(maybe), Darrel Arthur, Patrick Patterson, Aminu, Bledsoe, Oden, Batum, Bynum(doubt it), Whiteside, Jrue Holiday(you never know…I just really like his tenacity and atheleticism).
I`ll post another heading and see what people say/ come up with for ideas?

JoeWolf1I don’t think they would have shelled out all that money for Amir Johnson if they knew Reggie Evans was gonna go Rodman this season.
initially, I thought the contract was OK, but still a little overpaying, but I was also under the impression Reggie Evans wasn’t going to be back. Now with him playing so well and Ed Davis as a rookie with upside I think that contract makes a lot less sense.
