Raptors Can't Catch a Break?

Raps Fans, anyone check out this lousy article from the Toronto Sun by Steve Simmons? http://www.torontosun.com/2012/06/28/raptors-cant-catch-a-break I guess we might as well not even try to put a team together next year. All the forces of the Universe are in line against us. I'm pretty sure landing Valenciunas at 5 last year would count as a break. And what the hell does Brian Burke have to do with anything?

Nothing new. First T-Mac

Nothing new.

First T-Mac leaves. Then VC. Then Chris Bosh.

Sad to say but the Raptors will always be the Raptors.

I'll give you T-Mac leaving

I'll give you T-Mac leaving as a raw deal. But I hate to break it to you...Bosh leaving was the best thing that could have heppened to the team. We could still be "just missing the playoffs" every season in an attempt to build around a guy who cannot lead a team anywhere.

Let's stop feeling sorry for ourselves and enjoy the upward climb.

Try sitting through a full season of Bobcats or Wizards basketball last year and see how much you enjoy that.

@TOL23

I don't understand what you mean. "Raptors will always be the Raptors" ?

Terrence Ross stated that Toronto is the best city in the NBA and depending on who you ask it's up there with NY, LA and Miami. I don't think anyone will leave in the near future and Toronto has an amazing future if you ask me. Jonas, Terrence Ross and Bargnani? I think Toronto will become a hot spot destination like it once was with VC.

I'm actually really happy the Raptors draft Terrence Ross, he seems smart, knowledgeable and well rounded individual. The Raptors have a very bright future

Raptors needed a SG

I think the Raptors did the right thing in drafting a SG. If they're going to stick with Derozan, they can't have him at the 2 guard with licenses to shoot every possession. He'll have a better chance at efficiency when playing the 3.

I think the point here is

I think the point here is that they needed a wing player who can shoot, regardless of SG or SF. He has length, can run, can defend so he fits the system. And he has some NBA ready skills from day one. And yes, at SG he is a great compliment for Demar. Since they are both tall for SG they can very easily be on the floor at the same time. Bayless also works now that they did not pick a shorter combo guard like Waiters or Rivers - Though I still would have gone with Waiters if he was avalable.

Not sure if your comment

Not sure if your comment referred to me overreacting with the original post. My post was about the Simmons article that casts the raptors as some great sob story. I definately agree that we are in a solid position to start competing for the playoffs as early as next season. I truly believe many writers in the Toronto media prefer to have losing teams so they can make money writing negative articles.
