James Johnson is an

James Johnson is an interesting player after losing all that weight in the offseason. Physically, he looked impressive. He just never played. He was a college 4 who wasn't big enough to play that spot in the NBA. He shed the weight and worked on his shot, but with Bogans, Deng, Brewer, and Korver at the wing spots. He wasn't the smartest player last year, and that really hurts young players on teams that are committed to playing defense as the Bulls are this year.

It is really a zero sum trade. The Raptors got a young forward with athleticism and potential. He just turned 24, so it isn't as if he is much older than whoever it is they'd draft in the late 20s this summer. The Bulls weren't going to use him, and basically got a mulligan on the pick.

Also, the Bulls now only have twelve players on their roster so they will need to sign someone to a 10-day contract soon. The additional pick might also come into play in a potential trade if they add a player that way.

Good for Bulls

By getting the 1st rd pick, the Bulls could now offer 2 1st rd picks for a SG they want. The Bulls could send Miami's 2011 1st rd pick and Charlotte's 2012 1st rd pick to Houston for the SG they covet in Courtney Lee.

Thats exactly the type of move I feel chicago will make as well. Lee would work perfectly for the Bulls, hope they make it happen.

Johnson and Kleiza will fight

Johnson and Kleiza will fight for the starting spot but it will probably stay with Kleiza. Maybe Toronto did it because they thought getting Gallo would be a little tougher and they couldn't do it before the trade deadline so they did this to compensate somewhat.

Klieza is injured for the rest of the year. Weems is the current starter. The Clippers offered Minnesotas 1st rounder Lottery Protected, although not lottery protected for 2012. So basically Clippers offered Minnis 2012 1st rounder for Galinari.

Just when one thinks the Timberwolves can lap the competition on the worst run organization in the NBA, the Clippers remind everyone of why they are still the Clippers.

Gallinari for a first round

Gallinari for a first round pick is not a bad trade considering he is everything Clippers need at the small forward spot.

When fully healthy you have

Bd at pg

Eric Gordon at sg

Galinari at sf

Blake at pf

Jordan at C

Except for Baron, they are all fairly young. Gallinari give you shooting and he can drive to the basket and make free throws at a good clip if he gets fouled. This would open up a lot for Blake. Unlike Aminu who need some more seasoning, Gallo can play right now. There is no gurantee that there will be something better next year. Gallo is also young so he age is comparable to anybody coming out this coming season and next.

Gallinari is a 42 percent

Gallinari is a 42 percent shooter who doesn't guard anyone. How is that anyone's answer?

The Clippers should only give up that pick (which is going to be a top five pick in 2012) if they can get a real difference maker. Gallinari is just a guy who had inflated numbers in the D'Antoni system.

Trade for Lee

That's giving up alot for Courtney Lee. I would rather send those same picks for Mayo straight up or in a universe far far away trade those 2 picks with Brewer for Eric Gordon.

It is giving up a lot for

It is giving up a lot for Lee, but Houston wanted the Bulls backup young center Asik. Bulls don't want to trade a big for a guard. Also, what Memphis is asking for Mayo is a player ready to contribute to a playoff push plus a pick. While giving up 2 picks is a lot, the picks are not the Bulls originally so they would still have their original picks to use to add rotation players.

Actually Pau Gasol and some

Actually Pau Gasol and some pieces got traded for Kwame Brown for cap reasons and some young talent including Critterton and Marc Gasol. Marc Gasol is playing pretty good. The cap space was used on making the Randolph trade who has played really nice as well. I also think they drafted a pretty nice player with one of the draft picks they got for LA as welll.

Also early on Gallo was not shooting well but he is shooting close to 40 if not above 40 percent from 3 point line. I have not checked the number recently. I have seen enough games to know that Gallinari is a pure shooter. He just started off bad because the trade rumors bother his confidence.

Good opportunity for Johnson

Toronto has openings at both forward positions where he can emerge and potentially be a good player for them. Whether he has the skill set to do so yet at the NBA level or in the system Toronto plays is questionable. He's improved his conditioning however his perimiter shooting and perimiter game in general is still not at a level to play the 3 as a starter in the league. With more time he'll gain experience and get better.

For Chicago, they now have two draft picks they can use in a trade to get a SG, and Johnson obviously wasn't a major part of their plans, so this is a good trade on their part as well.
