I may get a lot of negatives for this, but I think Russell Westbrook should play SG.  I feel like hes more effective when he has someone passing him the ball and we can see it in this game…Harden being the pg and russell being the scorer/shooting guard. I dont know? its just a thought, he just looks more comfortable as a 2

Westbrook,i think would be a more explosive monta ellis type as a 2. However he should be given more time as a point. If he can improve his decision making, outside shot, and game management over the off season, he will be a top 3 pg in the league.

but I think long-term the 1 is the best fit for Westbrook. That said, Harden is the teams best and most creative passer (at least this post season) and I see no reason the two can’t coexist in the back court and share ball handling and facilitating duties. When you need Westbrook’s punch, move him off the ball and have Harden set it up and vice versa. Good thought man!

still wont help his shot selection, thats the main complain about him, I have no problem with him scoring but he has to be an effiecent one, about half of them he should have passed to the open guy instead of taking it.

    example(bad)- KD 10-18 fg   40 pts   RW– 3-15 20pts  Game 1 against mavs, another one 7-22 19pts

the shots he takes almost equal the amount of points he scores almost everytime, if he improves his shot selection the thunder would be a better team

and play it really well but if scoot brooks is thinking long term(as ChrisP said), if westbrook can develop his decision making and shoot selection and use it with his ability to get to the him and create his own shoot the thunder will have a unique point guard. He is the leagues best rebounding guard already and can still develop every aspect of his game so you really got to like him playing the point.

durant developing his leadership skills. He only leads by example, kevin should start communicating more and demanding more from his teammates.

I’m hearing a lot of IFs when it comes to Westbrook. And IF he could develop the decision making and better shot selection, great! But I think he hasn’t made much progression in those areas over his 3 years in the league. He is way too dependent on his athleticism and quickness…bad decision. To me, I think he thinks he is the best player on his team…bad decision. His shot selection is crap a good chunk of the time. He makes so many bad decisions in clutch time. His body language is garbage when things don’t go the way he wants them to. He has some major maturity issues at times…like we’ve seen in this series when he gets frustrated. How many times did he commit a stupid foul or get a tech in the final minutes of the game? Too many!!! At least for my taste…

I think he has a ton of potential and talent, but he needs to get his head right, but I would not want him running my team when it really matters…aka the Playoffs. I agree, Westbrook and Harden could compliment each other well, IF Westbrook can learn to play team ball. When Russell plays team ball, and not selfish ME-ME-ME ball, the Thunder are fantastic. When he gets tunnel-vision, the result is this series…Thunder lose! To me…that is way too much IF. I’d give him another year to figure out his proper role on this team…which is Durant’s team! If not…I’d have to think about going another route. If this team had a true starting-caliber pg, they could be unstoppable…just saying.

Some blame can be placed on Westbrook for not thinking pass 1st..

But the coach Brooks should take most of the blame, for not putting his players in position to finish games…

But he’s a young coach with a young team..I guess they’re both learning at the same time….

What people seem to forget and don’t realize is that Westbrook did not play PG in highschool nor college. His decision making and shot selection needs improvement as everyone continues to talk about, but he’s still getting the feel of his new position. It’s tough, especially at the highest level of basketball when you’re going against players like Rose, Paul, Williams, Rondo, etc. He’s only 22 and only getting better. In my opinon, he’d be as good as Rose (or almost) if he played PG for a longer time. Westbrook would be strongest at pg and if he masters this role, while harden develops, him and harden can be a deadly back court in the future. And enough of this ‘trade westbrook’ talk.. In order for them to get better faster, they must develop and grow together.
