qDizzle32ParticipantHe’s in a difficult situation as of right now. If he stays, he’d have to compete with Tyus Jones and if Jones outplays him, he’d really hurt his chances of getting drafted. I’m glad Tyler Thornton is gone because I was never a fan of his game but now there’s another guard coming in to not keep his starting spot safe. I doubt Grayson Allen will get big minutes next year and there’s no way Matt Jones could all of a sudden get more minutes than Cook next year but there’s two more backcourt players who could be in rotation next year. If Quinn Cook does come out for the NBA, I could see him getting drafted in the second round and possibly a very little chance at the late first round but if he does get reduced minutes because of Tyus Jones, his stock will be even lower next year than it is right now. The majority of college juniors who have been in the same program since they started college do not transfer and sit out a year with one year of eligibilty remaining so that does not sound very likely. What would be the best option for him?

GabnosisParticipantI read an article on teamstream a few weeks ago, saying that Tyus Jones will be behind Cook no matter what, because it would be better for Duke if they had an experienced PG running the team…
But it’s a tough situation for Cook right now…

livinlegend4blkParticipantCook Will Out Play Jones because Jones is about potential and skill he can help the team but after about 17 games in the season and as he get more experience then he can take the starting spot from cook (my not take as many 17 games could be a few)

FastAndFuriousParticipantI doubt Cook will go to the bench,if anything the starting spot will be his to lose,Cook is a very good player, its not like he’s Larry Drew and Kendall Marshall is just gonna take his ninutes situation,Cook is very solid and Tyus will have to wait his turn.

swoop1994ParticipantQuinn has been solid for duke and I think he improves like hes been doing enough and his senior status helps him beat out tyrus.

Ghost01ParticipantFirst of all, what option does Cook have? He isn’t even close to an NBA player.
Secondly, I hope Jones is better than him. He is a top 5 recruit, Cook lost his starting job to Thornton down the stretch. He is an okay 3 shooter, and an ok defender, but brings nothing else to the table.

imAboutDatActionParticipantCook has no chance of being drafted in the 1st round. none.
but yes, he’s in a tough spot. he’s stuck in no mans land because if he declared for the draft this year,he’d be lucky to be selected in the 2nd round where the contracts arent guaranteed and next year has the #1 PG coming in gunning for his position.
he’s jus going to have to use that as motivation in the offseason and improve all aspects of his game and his bball IQ.
