Purdue has had a great year without their leader in Hummel. While Johnson and Moore have shown themselves as great college players, I think both will struggle in the NBA should they make it.

Moore, what is he going to do to make it? I don’t think he fits either the PG or SG position adequately enough. He’s a good but not elite shooter, which is his biggest issue, since he isn’t an elite athlete and struggles at times to create and score off the dribble. He doesn’t seem athletic enough to me to compensate. Everytime I watch him he just seems really mediocre in terms of his movement. He’s smart but he’s not a genuine shot creator. Maybe he can play a Chalmers role on a team next to a player like Lebron, but he’ll need to be in a great situation.

Johnson, to me is not strong enough to really be a post player, and not overly quick or explosive enough to consistently last on the perimiter. So, I think he’ll struggle defensively, and he’s not a great rebounder now, and that will continue being a problem. For him to make it, he’ll need to be an high class shooter from the mid-range and beyond, and hopefully block some shots, although we’ll see if he can translate that. On ball he may, but weakside I’m not sold on that.

    What do you all think?

Are you saying that Johnson won’t get drafted or when he gets drafted he won’t be effective? Because if you’re saying he’s not going to get drafted you are mistaken. I agree with some of your criticism but I think he’ll find a place in the league. He definitely needs to get stronger and develop some more post moves, but I think he could be a legit threat in a pick and pop situation. He is a consistent mid-range shooter and can put the ball on the floor if needed but he certainly needs to work on that
aspect of his game. I believe he could become a similar player to Marcus Camby.

I meant effectiveness. He’s going to struggle to be effective IMO, at least early. I think he will last in the league for a bit, but not as an impact player. I don’t ever see him being that strong, and he’s not overly explosive/quick to compensate, so he’s in a major dilemma there. I definitely think he should be a good pick and pop player with a good mid-range J. But will he defend/rebound enough to stay on the floor? He’s pretty similar to Camby, I think he definitely has more potential offensively and is already a better jumpshooter. But the defense/rebounding isn’t equal.

When Johnson gets with NBA trainers, where he should some bulk, we’ll see what he can truly be. If he can gain strength it will help his average footwork and his explosion, and he won’t get pushed off the block for rebounds or looking to score. Johnson has potential but I don’t think Moore has much.

JaJuan Johnson may not be very strong or able to add weight to his skinny frame but hes a fierce competitor. He is a very solid jumpshooter out to 18 feet and his shot blocking will def be a factor from day 1. Taj Gibson is similar in stature and has been a key element in Chicagos rotation.

Johnson clearly has more NBA potential, but to compare him to Camby is downright stupid. They have no similarities besides their frame and an ugly jumper.

But, then again, the same things Camby does offensively, which is mostly set picks, pick and pop a bit, get down the court on fastbreaks, float on the midrange and take open jumpers, is *somewhat* similar to what Johnson’s role likely will be as an NBA player offensively. Also, both are better players off the ball than on the ball defensively, although the way they block shots are different. I don’t think it’s a perfect comparison but there are some similarities, moreso physically.
