I’ve only been a Stanford fan for 3 years due to my nephew playing for the team and after this year I most likely wont watch them much but ill continue to cheer for them while pledging my full alliance back to my Maryland Terps

This should be the year that Stanford cracks the top 25, makes the NCAA tournament and make a little noise. It should have been last year after winning the N.I.T the year before and returning 85 or more percent of their team. Last season started out well then the season went in a tail spin after the loss to Belmont. To add to that they lost too more in the bahamas and then lost there starting small forward for the year and there starting pg for a couple of games. A couple of players stepped up and played much better than they did last year (Dwight Powell, Josh Huestis, John Gage).

    PROJECTED STARTING LINE UPS

    PG-Aaron Bright 5’10
    SG-Chasson Randle 6’1
    SF-Anthony Brown 6’7
    PF-Josh Huestis 6’8
    C-Dwight Powell 6’10

    Bench
    Christian Sanders
    Roscoe Allen
    John Gage
    Elliot Bullock
    Stephen Nastic

Aaron Bright- bright is a small pg that is more of a scorer than a passer, set up man. What he lacks in height he makes up in confidence. H isn’t the fastest little guy or the most athletic but he is very shifty and can kill you with his jump shot when he is on. Aaron was the MVP of the N.I.T in 2012

Chasson Randle-Chasson came to Stanford with a lot of hype and more than lived up to it in his freshman season by making the all freshman team and leading Stanford in points. Unfortunately his second season wasn’t as memorable and he seemed to have taken a step backwards. He still played pretty well but he did not make the progression that you would expect after having the freshman year that he had. Chasson is only a Jr so he has time to get back on track and become the all conference player many coaches project him to eventually be. Chasson has a back for scoring and hitting big shots as well as getting into the paint almost at will. Even though he is short for his position he has a high basketball IQ and makes up for his lack of height with long arms and a high work ethic on defense. Chasson is current getting prepared to tryout for the U.S World team

Anthony Brown-Anthony had a very good sophomore season in which Anthony averaged 8ppg,he came back for his Jr year with expectations of being one of Stanford’s top scores for the 2013 season. Unfortunately Anthony’s body had other plans. Anthony played a couple of games before he had to take a medical redshirt due to a on going problem with his hip which eventually caused him to have surgery. Anthony comes back this upcoming season with something to prove

Josh Huestis-One half of the Bash Brothers Josh is known throughout the conference as one of the most versatile defenders and a player ready to explode on the national scene, he has doubled his averages every year since he arrived at Stanford. Last year as Josh’s best season yet, a season in which he was 20 something rebounds shy of averaging a double double for the year..Huestis is the defensive anchor of the team and shot blocking/rebounding leader that also scores from inside and out. One issue with Josh is that he tries to do too many team things when the team needs him to score and take advantage of his mismatches as a SF playing the PF position. Josh finished last season as a first team all defense and is only 48 blocks shy of the schools all time shot blocking record and was just picked to participate in the U.S World team try outs. Josh is currently getting ready to head down to Houston to work with John Lucas before going to UCLA for their pro run then to the U.S tryouts

Dwight Powell-the second half of the Bash Brothers Dwight made the leap that everyone was waiting for. He went from sometime starter in 2012 to first team All Conference in 2013. Dwight is a very unique player in that he’s 6’10,runs like a deer, has long arms, a pretty good athlete and has the ability to hit threes or get a rebound and go coast to coast for a highlight dunk. Dwight decided to come back for his Sr year after hearing that he was a border line first round pick. Dwight has the chance to finish the year as the Conference player of the year. Dwight is current in training camp for the Canadian National team

I’ve been disappointed as well. He was supposed to step up this past year but instead he continued to be inconsistent. Hopefully he will step up this season now that he will have a real PG running the show
