    Hello,

I just looked at some stats from last season and found some very interesting stats about some teams I want to post here. So my team are the Thunder and here are some facts:

    Regular Season:

1st in the league in FT % with 0.806

3rd in the league in FG % with 0.471 – SA and DEN 1st and 2nd

3rd in the league in PPG with 103.06 – DEN 1st, SA 2nd

6th in the league in RPG with 43.68 RPG without having elite Rebounders

1st in the league in BBG with 8.17(!) – WAS 2nd with 6.32 and CHI 3rd with 5.88

    WHEN TEAM SCORES 100+ 0.833 winning percentage (!) – 35 wins

    Stats I really don’t like:

    1st in TPG with 16.35 – NY 2nd

last in the league in APG with 18.55 – DEN 1st with 23.96 and BOS 2nd with 23.59

OKC seems to have a really efficient offens without having many assists. Confusing in some ways but the iso offense for KD and Russ seems to work pretty well.

Here are some crazy facts from other teams:

CHI 1st in PPG DIFF with +8.18

LA and MIN ist in the league in fouls called with +3.38 (means they went more to the line than opponent)

CHI hasn’t lost a game last year in the regular season when they scored 100+ (!!!) 22 wins

NO hasn’t won a single game when opponent scored 100+ ! 16 losses

CHI is by far the best rebounding team in the league. Got 46.67 RPG while leading the league in RPG DIFF with +6.68(!!!) – LA 2nd with +5.24 (will be nice to see D12 impact or see if Bynum was that valuable!) – UTH 3rd with +3.03 (will be nice to see what Kanter, Favors and Co will do this year!)

CLI 1st in SPG DIFF with +2.42 while LA beeing last with -2.51 (!) beeing way worse than 2nd to last MIN with -1.71 !!!. Will be nice to see if this will even be worse for LA with Nash not beeing known for beeing a defensive monster.

No team gets more of his shots blocked than CLE with -2.23 – way ahead of DEN with -1.65

No team had a fewer 3PT% than CHA with a horrible 0.295. Don’t see this beeing better this year even if BG is an upgrade over Maguette not to mention that MKG’s shot looks awkward at best.

OKC is the best BPG team in the west as mentioned before – 3nd place goes to …………………… PHX with ???

    Playoffs:

MIA won all their 11 games where they scored 100+

DAL had a BPG DIFF of -3.75 in the playoffs. They got destroyd by the Thunder on the inside even if they had the upper hand on the rebounds with +1.25

NY had a 3PT% of 0.275 in the first round

CHI shot just 0.649 from on FT’s in the Playoffs and had 0.722 in the regular season with wich is good for 4th to last. (CLI are 2nd to last with 0.680 in the regular season which is really horrible!)

PHI was last in the laegue with the opponent fouling just 16.21 times per game while fouling 17.53 themselves which is also very few. Will be interesting what will happen to this stat sheet with deparure of Iggy and the addition of Bynum.

What do you think and feel free to honor or embarras your own team. What about the so called advanced stats?

doesn’t really make sense that they have the fewest APG and the most TO per game

It could be a sign that they have trouble completing their passes. It might be interesting to see how many of those turnovers came from situations where they did not read a pass correctly or should have passed out of a trap or double-team better.

I think that everyone else on this forum is too tired to make such a plentiful statistical analysis of even their own favorite team. :p

I know that not everybody is too much into stats but I really think that some of them tell a lot about the teams.

The bulls for example. They won all of their games when they scored 100+ which is very interesting and that resulted in 22 in a 66 games season. A lot of people are thnking that the bulls could really slip this year with d-rose out for most or maybe the whole regular season. If they find a way to compensate his scoring and manage to get it going offensively they really have a chance for many wins. The bulls have been by far the best rebounding team in the league and this won’t change a lot with rose out. If Rip finds his way for let’s say 18 ppg and the other point guards can combine for 20 ppg they could crack the 100+ mark and I see no reason why they should be less effective in this stats sheet. I know Rose is the main peace in Chicago and no one can compensate this but it really seems like the other guys and especially the bigs on the team deserve a lot of credit for the regular season top seeds in the past two years. I know that losing Korver, Asik and Brewer isn’t an upgrade but Nate Rohinson for example could really step in an deliver some scoring. I think the rest of the team is strong and smart enough to make up for Nates defensive liabilities.

Did’t realise this until I saw some of this stats above.
