As of right now this is what the depth chart looks like for the backcourt, specifically speaking on the PG position.

    • Raymond Felton, Armon Johnson, Patty Mills, Nolan Smith, *Elliot Williams

Year in & year out, I question the motives of the front office, to why they always create logjam’s in the backcourt. I really don’t get it at all, can someone please tell me why they stock pile guys?

i donno if thats really a "logjam"…felton is the best player on that list and none of those other guys are NBA starters IMO

Felton being the only proven guy, the rest are inexperience and unproven. Their hoping one of them pans out, if I had to put my money on one of them, I like Armon Johnson as a back up PG. Not really a log jam, because some of these guys would barely make an NBA roster.

Yeah not really a logjam at all. Its not they all DESERVE to be backups. They will be fighting to be backups except Felton of course

He is playing in China with no out clause.

Alogjam is shen there are more deserving and productive players than there are minutes to go around. Behind Felton, none of them are even proven backups.

He signed in China and I do not think he can leave, so that is not a worry. Raymond Felton should definitely get the majority of minutes, Elliot Williams is a combo guard and will play more 2. Nolan Smith and Armon Johnson also play both guard positions. I think the Blazers stockpile versatile basketball players. I remember talking with a former Blazer exec about a guy being more of a "true PG" and he says "I do not want a position. I want a basketball player." They will more than likely trade some of these players, but all other than Felton were picks in the 20’s, and players who are seen as more complimentary players than anything. If you see them carrying their college success on to the NBA, than you might have a "logjam", but I just think the Blazers are trying to find players to fit their system.

Here is a probable roster breakdown:

    Starters:

PG Raymond Felton (Should play 33-36 minutes per game)

    SG Wesley Matthews

    SF Gerald Wallace

    PF LaMarcus Aldridge

C Greg Oden (Hopefully comes back soon. If not, Camby it is, or small ball with Nicolas Batum)

    Bench:

SF Nicolas Batum (He will be a spot starter, and I think he will have a great year)

    PF/C Marcus Camby

G Elliot Williams (Should play both, majority 2)

F Luke Babbitt (Should play both)

G Armon Johnson (Should play both, majority 1)

    G Nolan Smith

    C Earl Barron

We will see what happens, but that is a rough prediction. Leaves out Patty Mills, who again signed to play in China, where he and the others who signed there appear to be stuck with no "out clause". Jamal Crawford is supposedly interested in the Blazers as well, which would be fantastic for bench scoring. Brandon Roy, well, I am thinking he might be amnesty clause bound. If Crawford gets signed, or Roy stays, than look for one of the young guards to go to the D-League. I do not think positions are always black and white. I did not love the Blazers choices of guards these past little while, but you can always trade one and I think they must see something in those they have drafted.

im going out on a limb, and saying that nolan smith will get a good amount of minutes too. even with felton i like smiths game, and think he can one day be a starter and if not starting then a damn good back up. forget armon johnson, and mills…

Hell! Bayless couldn’t even get any minutes when he was there.

    My money is on:

PG: Felton 35ish minutes, Nolan gets 13ish

SG/SF: Matthews, Batum, Wallace split the minutes when Camby and Oden are both healthy, which will probably be like 5 games this year, or if they don’t sign PF (Landry, West).

If not, Wallace will play more PF, making Batum play more at the 3, which will open up about 15 minutes at the 2, which Elliot Williams will take.
