Portland receives: Pick #21, Pick #22

Boston receives: Pick #11 I think this trade would benefit both sides.

Obviously, Boston gets to move up to #11, where Austin Rivers could be available, but even if he’s not, there are a lot more options for them to choose from at #11.

I could see Portland doing this trade. Considering they already had one pick at #6, they would get to choose two more players in the first round at #21 and #22. Portland is in a position where they have a few good pieces, but could use some depth. If they could grab Beal at #6, and follow it up with say Fab Melo and Marquis Teague with the latter picks, they would have a much brighter future when compared to just picking at #11.

A lot of it depends on who goes in the top 5, and who Portland eventually lands. If Drummond fell to Portland, then maybe they don’t do this trade because they could grab Lillard or Marshall at #11. But if Davis, Barnes, Drummond, MKG, and Robinson go top 5 as I project, than this may be Portland’s best option in my opinion.

Or they can call up the Jazz and offer the 11th pick for Millsap. And still draft someone like Beal or Lamb at 6.

My guess is that Boston sees Rivers how Utah saw Jimmer last year.  Utah liked Jimmer, but many people let out a big sigh of relief when he was off the board.  I’m sure Boston would be pleased to pick Rivers  up at 21, but it would be a train wreck if Rivers didn’t work out and they traded up for him for obvious reasons.  I really cannot see a scenario that has Boston moving up to pick Doc’s kid.

If Boston decided to take this trade it would likely be because someone they really wanted fell well beyond expectations.  Think Brandon Knight or Kawi Leonard from the 2011 draft.  Austin Rivers could potentially still be available at 21 considering the number of high quality 2s that are available in this draft.

They have Aldridge at the PF. Milsap? What for? They have much bigger needs. For sure at the 1 and 5 position.

Boston really needs depth. They could use the two picks as trade bait to move up, or maybe in a trade to get younger, but I see them staying put.

Portland needs more veterans, not a bunch of rookies.

You serious? I would base trading the pics on what they see in workouts. If it looks like they can get good value at those spots I would sighn KG and stay put. If it looks like someone is too good you have to have them I would sighn KG and try to trade up. I think C’s will be able to rebuild without sucking.

boston does not need depth. this is the last year the big 3 will be staying together with either ray or kg or both leaving. they need to rebuild around rondo not get depth. but no way they trade up to get austin rivers. it will be okay if austin rivers lasts till their original pick but could you imagine the accusations of favoritism if they traded up like 10 picks to pick the coach’s son? no way

@rwd5035. Aldridge can play C. If they traded 11 for Millsap and drafted Lillard at 6. They could sign Nash and have a team that looks like this

    Nash/Lillard

    Matthews

    Batnum

    Millsap

    Aldridge

Thats a nice core 6 to have playing for you.

I wouldn’t mind the Celtics trading up, but not for Rivers.  If they got the 11th pick, I would hope they would get someone like PJIII.  In fact, I think because this is a deep draft, I would only trade up if I were the Celtics in order to get a player who slips on draft day.  I mention PJIII because I think he would fit well with the Celtics.  Going to a well coached team with veteran leadership and a star distributing pg would help him reach his potential.

Aldridge isnt a 5. And he will never be.

Defensively, Aldridge is a solid if unspectacular rebounder and shot-blocker, and his size and mobility make him a plus at either power forward or center. He’s not a fire-in-the-belly guy, but he’s quietly pretty darn good — Portland gave up 5.53 points per 100 possessions less with him on the court, and his Synergy numbers were outstanding. In fact, nearly all of Portland’s best lineups over the past two seasons involve him at center. If Greg Oden can’t answer the bell it wouldn’t be a surprise to see a substantial increase in Aldridge’s minutes at that spot this coming season

He can play some minutes at the 5 but he will never be a starting center on an contending team. We can see now the tendencies to play smaller lineups. We saw Lebron, Nick Collison playing the 5 so its obvious that Aldridge can play some minutes at center but if you watched the last Miami Boston game when Miami went small it worked for few minutes but than stopped. And Spoelstra confirmed that in the interview that it worked for small minutes but it wont work for a longer period of time.
