Portland and Clips in talks about Jamal Crawford

The Trail Blazers and Clippers are in talks about a possible deal involving Jamal Crawford to the Clips, and Ryan Gomes and Eric Bledsoe to Portland.

The Blazers get a young prospect for a guy that may leave this summer, and teh Clippers get instant wing help.

I like this deal for the Clips. Without Crawford, they are at best the 3rd or 4th best team in the West. This deal would push them to No.2, and would theortically be Chauncey's fill-in. The headline is on hoopshype.com

Like/Dislike???

Why a negative for "Reporting" the rumor? Cant help but think someone is liking their own comment on here. Randy Foye, Mo Williams and Jamal Crawford are not all the same type of players. Foye is no where the talent Williams or Crawford are. Also, Crawford is a legit SG, who is clutch. He can create his own shot and I am eager to see what he does playing alongside Paul. This is a great deal for the Clips.

Yea i agree

Those three are score first type of guys but i would say Foye is alittle more well rounded but lacks those guys scoring punch. The Clippers dont need more scoring they need a elite defender on the wing. Like an Andre Iguadala or Gerald Wallace. Caron Butler is a good defender but they need to pair another one beside him or upgrade to an elite one who would have more of an impact. Also they need more size in the front court because when DeAndre gets in foul trouble or hurt their front line becomes very small.

@KHAM83 What does Jamal

@KHAM83

What does Jamal Crawford do that Randy Foye or Mo Williams doesn't do?

They're all shoot first players that aren't very good defenders. It doesn't matter that Crawford is 6' 5" because he doesn't make any real impact on defense.

You could argue that Williams has had a better season than Crawford. And Foye has been solid as well.

woowoo?

Well of course theyll take Iggy or Wallace, but how do they get them??? Who beside Paul or Griffen will the 6ers ship Iggy to LA for? Portland will not move Wallace for that deal either. And ya they need size but once again teams arent trading a big for a small. This was the only deal there to improve the clips. Jamaal isnt a great defender, but its more because he has never tried before. Also, DeAndre inside makes up for it. Clips has great scorers and a pg to run the offense. The team after this deal is much better than before.

@Indiana

Crawford is the better scorer.....but what I am saying, this deal makes them better. You cant have too many clutch scorers on a team.

I didnt say trade for them i said the need an elite defender like them. I dont think the can get Iggy. But Portland was talking about trading Wallace for 2 first rounders earlier this year. I dont know the Clippers pick situation but they could offer that but i doubt they do. But they can offer Butler and a first for Wallace since they play Batum at SG now. Or the trade for Crawford could also work for Wallace too because Batum is the future SF.

Jamal Crawford is a great

Jamal Crawford is a great scorer but he's a blackhole and I don't see him ever being a championship piece.

apparently the Wizards and

apparently the Wizards and Clips are in talks about a similar deal with Nick Young...i hope the Wiz can get something for NY, even if its just a late first rounder, or a way to get someone to take Blatche's contract...crossing my fingers...

as for this trade....i really like Bledsoe, and im not a huge fan of Crawford...there is something wrong with the Blazers this season, but i dont think its really Crawfords fault as much as it is Raymond Felton's...they need to trade him, but maybe there arent many takers...

Indiana Basketball is right,

Indiana Basketball is right, they all give you the same things and play the same way. They're shoot first combo guards that play little to no defense, can shoot the three well, and can score very well(except for Foye at leat)

Does that mean one is as good as the other? Absolutly not. I'd say Foye is the least valuable of the three, and Crawford is slightly better than Mo Williams, but he gets the edge due to his size advantage.

The only problem I see is that they'll have too much backcourt depth, and it'll be a log jam. Foye will get no more than 5 minutes a game, but it does give them a little extra help, and I would use both Williams and Crawford when CP3 sits, that way you get above average starter level production even when your starter is out.

It be dumb

This trade would be awful specially this year with the draft being so weak at PG..
Ugh clippers should of just Amnestied Gomes in offseason and offered the same contract he got from Portland,I believe he got just a full MLE.
Nick Young also not worth it,isn't he an unrestricted FA next year ???

Now, IF the Clippers were

Now, IF the Clippers were acquiring Courtney Lee, I could understand.

He's not just a scorer. He has solid two guard size and plays both ends of the floor. He's a solid all-around two way player.

Of course Crawford is the best out of Williams and Foye, but I just don't see the point of them acquiring another shoot first player. Like what does that accomplish? I felt the same when they were trying to acquire JR Smith.

Courtney Lee for Trey

Courtney Lee for Trey Tompkins, Eric Bledsoe, and Travis Leslie?

Then we can finally move Flynn and Dragic. We can bring Bledsoe, Leslie, and Tompkins in slowly because let's face it, the Rockets aren't going anywhere.

The Clippers get instant help at the 2-guard. A player that plays both ends, has playoff experience, good offensive scorer and is decently athletic. (NBA Finals with the Magic as their starting 2-guard).

Not only that, he can be their long-term solution as well as their instant upgrade.

My idea Eric Bledsoe, Foye

My idea

Eric Bledsoe, Foye and a pick for Matthews and Smith

Portland: they get the point guard of the future and giving more playing time for Williams

Crawford - Williams - Wallace - Aldridge - Camby

Bledsoe - Foye - Batum - Smith - Przybilla

Clippers: get a 2 guard who fits well

Paul - Matthews - Butler - Griffin - Jordan

Smith - Williams - Gomes - Evans - Martin

^ The problem with that trade

^
The problem with that trade is Portland already has Felton. Bledsoe and Foye wouldn't find any playing-time behind Crawford, Felton, Williams, and Batum. They lose a potential starter in Matthews for a PG that won't play at all and a combo guard that isn't any better than Crawford, Felton, or Williams.

The Clippers aren't going to

The Clippers aren't going to be relevant this year regardless of who they get at the 2. Del Negro is absolutely atrocious.

Cool I got it right

" The Blazers recently offered Crawford to the L.A. Clippers for Eric Bledsoe, but the Clippers were not interested. While they like Crawford, they are concerned about his ability to opt out of his contract after this season (which Crawford definitely will do, sources say), and they feel that Bledsoe will have great value at draft time because there are few point guards in the draft."

We do need a new face in the SG role
Meh I kinda like Brandon Rush good spot up shooter and has a nice strong body

Wonder if he's cheap now that GSW gonna tank so they can keep their pick this year from that top 7 protection

Bogut/Curry IR rest of year ;)
