Please Name 10 players better than Melo

I heard 2 radio personalities discuss the trade & one said he is top 20, the other guy said he is top 15-17 in the NBA.Some say Top 10. Does anybody agree with this assesment? As far as Scorers he is #1 in the league,(Barring injury will continue to be the best Scorer for the Next 3-5 years)when trainers are teaching Wings how to score from perimitier he (Melo) is the Model that they use. Every arsenal that's needed he has, he gets defensive players off balance, gets to his spots on the floor better than anyone in the league, sees help defense & finishes before they can stop him. He can rebound avg a career high 8rebs this year, you already know about the scoring, so who are the 10 players who are better than him?

I know 4 who are better

Lebron/Wade/DHoward/Kobe

Chris Paul Deron Williams

Chris Paul Deron Williams Derrick Rose Tim Duncan(i think hes just devoted to defense entirely, doesnt get many shot attempts, he is the only shot blocker on the best team with an amazing record) Steve Nash(dude's pretty underrated) Rondo (yes hes playing with great players but whatever)then Carmelo lol is 11

Durant James Wade Bryant Rose

Durant

James

Wade

Bryant

Rose

Howard

Paul

Williams

Right now hes in that Nowitski Griffin and Stoudamire range

Thats 8 for sure but Id say around 9-12 Theres still some other guys that Id take to start a team over Carmelo. Anthony is a great scorer but really what else does he have?? I just know you cant win a ring with Melo as your best player.

I'd say 9. Right here. Although Amar'e and Pau could be put ahead of him, I wouldn't though. He could also be put right behind Howard at 6.

I would say that Lebron,

I would say that Lebron, Kobe, Howard, Wade, CP3, Durant, Rose, and Deron Williams are the only ones ahead of him. So I'd say he is at #9 right now and within the top ten players in the league.

How is Durant better then

How is Durant better then Anthony can someone explain that one too me. Wade is better then Anthony? All those PG's are better then Anthony, yet you say Anthony is better then Westbrook and none of those PG's in my opinion are really "better then Westy".

I think Carmelo has an arguement for Top 5, easily. Best scorer in the game shouldnt be underrated, and once he starts winning games in the spotlight of New York he will be right up there with Wade, Lebron, Kobe, et.

Lets see here...........

LeBron, Kobe, Durant, Paul, Howard, Rose, Nash, Wade, Williams (not in any specific order) I'd put ahead of Carmelo. So right there, he's #10, which is about right I'd say. There are other guys like Gasol, Pierce/Rondo, Dirk, Amare, Ginobili/Duncan, who you can say impact a game as much as Carmelo does, and potentially more in some cases. Carmelo, he's a star, but he is NOT on the Kobe/LeBron/Howard level. He's on the level right below that, but it's a mistake to think he's on the top level, when he isn't.

Durant could become better

Durant could become better than Melo but as of right now Melo has him beat and I am Durant fan. I think people like Durant more because he stayed and is humble and compute that with him being better than Melo. Paul is a shell of his former self right now. Healthy you can argue he is better than Melo but right now that would be false. Deron Williams is not better than Melo but i can understand starting a team with Williams over Melo because of position. Howard is not really better than Melo as much as he is more important than Melo because he is a legit big man who play defense and can score to some degree.

Melo is an elite scorer maybe 1b to Kobe's 1a but he is below average defender. Nash is not better than Melo. As a point guard he is more important but I would not pick him before Melo in starting a team at his age. You could argue that Amare is better but until this year Melo has been more consistent. I think Melo is top 5 and at worst top 7. Both he and Amare are at least top 15 and you could argue they both are top 10. Haters tend to confuse their opinions with facts. I am a fan of Melo but I am a fan of most basketball players. Durant is not a great defender and lacks Melo's game in the post as of right now. When both of those and his ball handling skill improve(not saying they are bad) Durant can be better than Lebron. As of now he is not better than Melo. I am a big Durant fan and I followed him at Texas so I feel he will be a great player when his body and his total game comes together but we are talking in the present right now.

Derick Rose may be better than Melo but really Rose defense is on par with Melo or a lil worse and they both are scorers on a high level with Melo being better. Rose is a better passer as goes his position. Melo's position as a small forward is to rebound, score and defend. He only sucks at one of these. Small forward dont have to be great passers but decent enough to the job done.

Durant is better than Carmelo

He's a better defender (has improved his defense to around average, Carmelo is borderline defensive liability), and he's scoring more points at a better rate than Carmelo. He's also younger. I would clearly pick Durant over Carmelo when it comes to leading a franchise.

I'd take Melo over Durant

I'd take Melo over Durant right now... Obviously not going forward, but as of right now...

They're both scorers at the end of the day and Melo is the more tougher/physical and more complete offensive player.

I think people are under

I think people are under valuing Melo's post/back to the basket game. They're both phenomenal scorers each having a serious offensive toolbox. But I like what Melo brings to the post.

Efficiency

Melo can score, but he is not the most efficient at it.

Melo TS%: 54.7

Durant TS%: 59.5

I haven't looked at

I haven't looked at statistics or TS%, etc, but I just think Melo has the more complete game.

Melo is a mismatch. He's too strong for most threes and two quick off of the dribble for fours. Deadly mid-range game. He's a bully in the post. He can shoot the trey ball. He gets to the line and makes his free-throws. He makes quick decisions with the ball, so he doesn't need to hold it long.

And he's clutch. Among the best in the league.

Melo in my opinion is clearly

Melo in my opinion is clearly one of the top 10 players in the NBA at the moment and has been for the last few years. All the players mentioned above would be in the mix for my top ten but depending on what you are looking at the list can always change.

First of all, anyone who puts anyone but Lebron at #1 I can't take serious... This is a list of best/impactful players

1. Bron
2. Kobe
3. Howard (he can dominate a game being a big on both ends)
4. Anthony
5. Wade
6. Durantula
7. D-Will
8. D-Rose
9. CP3 (Could be higher if healthy)
10. Scalabrine

When discussing who the best players are.......

It's generally about which players impact the game the most, in a positive way, for their team, and whose the best at doing that. To me, I can think of like 12-15 players who I'd put at Carmelo's level or above him. Durant gets to the line more than Carmelo, shoots a better percentage, and is a better outside shooter than Carmelo. To me, it's not even an argument. Also, real talk real is right, LeBron is the clear #1 without question currently.

Top Tier Darko

Top Tier

Darko :)

Lebron

Howard

Kobe

Wade

Durant

Maybe Rose

I think you could make an argument for Melo as a top 6 player but also could make one for only top 10-12

I think cases can be made

I think cases can be made that Carmelo is better than Durant, Howard, Rose, CP3, and Williams. Durant is a great scorer, but he isn't really a versatile scorer as you'd think he would be just by looking at his length. He is a good rebounder though, and he does get to the line a lot, but he doesn't really go to the post much. He can put more points on the board than Carmelo, but Carmelo has more ways to score.

Howard isn't a better player as he is valuable. It just so happens that this league is dry on good big men... His value at his position doesn't make him a better player than Carmelo although he is more valuable just because of the disparity between good big men and good wing players well basically everything else too.

Rose is still an up and coming player who is having an MVP season. I'd take Rose over Carmelo going forward, but Carmelo is more proven than Rose is right now, and Carmelo doesn't need the ball in his hand all the time to score points like Rose does. I just don't like the thought of a PG leading the team in points and being a first option. Has that ever worked? Maybe it will one day...

CP3 is a legitimate top 5 player, no doubt, in the league when fully healthy and in rhythm, but as of right now, he just doesn't have his mojo like how he used to...

I think Williams is a top ten player, but he is not better than Carmelo. Nothing else needed to be said about that.

i dont understand how some people are not putting lebron at number 1. this guy is the best in the league i said this once and i'll say this again LOOK AT THE CAVS. they were 1st in the nba 2 seasons ago and now their in last place. this guy probably can make d-league players look good and im not even boosting. and for those who put kobe 1st think about this if kobe was with the cavs would he be able to lead the cavs to the best record in the nba for 2 consecutive seasons. if lj was with the lakers they would be winning much more games then they are with kobe. kobe has soo much talent around him that even without kobe they would make the playoffs.

Melo@19yrs old

21ppg& 4/5 rebs as a 19 year old Rookie, those are impressive #. His body of work says he is a high volume scorer who can rebound. Some guy's on this list do not have the resume to Compare to Melo.I mean really it should take 3-4 consistent years before you can even reach this level. Not 1 breakout year, but proving you can withstand 82 games for 3-4 years & still be a great player. I've already mentioned his scoring prowess, simply put, He's an Outlier on the Wing. I think that if He can post slightly higher than career # "say 29&7" & lead NY to 1-3 Seed in the next Couple of Years He will win 1/2 MVP's because everybody is about to see what a hype Machine like NY Media can do for a SuperStar. Plus he is young 26 yrs old (and i remember someone from an earlier thread told me that guy's mentally get better after age 28) so that gives Him 7/8 years of optimal MVP type of play.

As Rookie led his team to Playoffs as the leading scorer of his team. That was after leading his college team to a Chip. So with all of these younger players mentioned that people put above Melo, who would you take @ 19yrs old.

Real talk Real list is

Real talk Real list is good

But Serious i would never take a PG over a good wing like carmelo cause pg's are all over the place these days. There's only one person ill take and thats LBJ. Melo clearly out play Kobe. Wade is good but he not a better scorer then Melo hell he cant even shoot better than Melo. D. Howard is good but who do he play against that's competition nobody. Melo go against the best position players {SF's] everynight. Melo and LBJ kills Durant everytime they meet up so that's no contest. Yall going see the real Melo now.

Please no bandwagon fans after he take over.
