Kinguy11ParticipantBasically look at the player comparisons for the top players in nbadraftnet’s 2014 mock draft’s and rank them in THAT order, not the players themselves. I do realise that the comparisons aren’t talent based but style based, however, you don’t really see #1 picks compared to mediocre players and vice-versa, even if there games are similar.
This is a purely fun topic and shouldn’t be seen as any serious analysis of the 2014 draft.
To help out, I’ll list the 15 players in the first round of nbadraftnets current mock draft who have comparisons.
Andrew Wiggins – Scottie Pippen
Jabari Parker – Carmelo Anthony
Marcus Smart – James Harden
Julius Randle – Chris Webber
Joel Embiid – Andrew Bynum
Semaj Christon – John Wall
Glenn Robinson III – Andre Iguodala
James Young – Michael Redd
Andrew Harrison – Dion Waiters
Mario Hezonja – Rex Chapman
Aaron Gordon – Michael Beasley
Mitch McGary – Bill Laimbeer
James McAdoo – Antawn Jamison
Vasilje Micic – Nado De Colo
Montrezl Harrell – Bo OutlawObviously there are some big guys who don’t have comparisons on this site but it can’t be helped.

Kinguy11ParticipantScottie Pippen (Wiggins)
Carmelo Anthony (Parker)
Chris Webber (Randle)
Andre Iguodala (Robinson)
James Harden (Smart)
Michael Redd (Young)
John Wall (Christon)
Bill Laimbeer (McGary)
Rex Chapman (Hezonja)
Antawn Jamison (McAdoo)
Andrew Bynum (Embiid)
Dion Waiters (Harrison)
Michael Beasley (Gordon)
Bo Outlaw (Harrell)
Nado De Colo (Micic)McGary’s comparison to Laimbeer shoots him up the charts on this list whilst the Beasley comparison for Gordon doesn’t do him justice in this list. Redd in his prime could give Harden a run for his money but I think it’s impossible to ignore Harden’s breakout season with the Rockets.

roni3ParticipantThese should be seen as the highest levell these players are capable of reaching by no means are they as good as some of those players or will ever be. I would like to see Dante Exum and Dario Saric Nba comparisons as well?

Kinguy11ParticipantSaric doesn’t have a comparison and Exum’s comparison is Penny Hardaway. However, Exum is on the 2015 mock, despite rumours he may declare for the 2014 draft, so I didn’t put him on. I kept it to the group to the current 2014 mock so the group was controlled.

ReekoParticipantI liked was Julius Randle and Chris Webber… I expect Aaron Gordon to be a lot better than Beasley. You really lost me at Andrew Harrison and Dion Waiters though…

Memphis MadnessParticipantGoing with Dr. J for Andrew Wiggins. Known as a breath taking athlete at the wing. Known for offense than
for defense, but I don’t see him in that Jordan mold as far as competitiveness and killer instinct goes. Maybe not
the next Kobe either. If Wiggins turns into more of a defensive guy than an offensive maestro then I totally see the Scottie
Pippen comparison. Not too shabby since Dr. J and Pippen are just behind guys like Jordan, LeBron, Kobe, and Bird as far as
all-time great wing players go.As far as McGary goes, he has a good skill set as a guy who can score, board, and pass. Not a whole lot of big men like that, so
I can see the Bill Laimbeer comparisons. But as a guy Witt that skill set at the four spot (or undersized center) what about a less athletic
Chris Webber? C Webb also took Michigan to title games. So somewhere between Laimbeer and Webber which would be pretty cool. For James McAdoo, a better version of a prime Darrell Arthur. A tweener forward with really good hops. Good guy to have off the bench as
a seventh or eighth man. Decent rebounder but not the best. Can score some around the hoop but needs to hone his mid-range jumper.
For McAdoo: see also, Taj Gibson.I think Adreian Payne will be a solid center with legit shot blocking skills like Jamaal Magloire. Or, a poor man’s cross between Greg Monroe and Andre Drummond.
I haven’t seen enough of Randle or those other guys to really make comparisons.

JoeWolf1No one should be compared to Lambieer unless they’re a mean enforcer…something McGary is not.

r377ParticipantMcGary is a beast on the glass. Some might be surprised to learn that Laimbeer did actually lead the league in rebounding for two seasons and was a four time all star despite his “goon” reputation. Setting screens, taking charges and doing all the dirty work I can see some Laimbeer and Nick Collison in him.
I think he is more athletic than Bill but maybe not as skilled, but is more skilled than Collison. I don’t really like the David Lee comparisons just like the Baz / harden comparisons. Their shooting stroke looks the same but thats about it. Lee is not as physical as McGary and is definitely not the defender Mitch is….

Lotto StudParticipantI’m a bit new to the Semaj Christon/John Wall comparison.
Does he have Wall’s freak athleticism and coast to coast foot speed?
