Pistons trade ideas

Just wondered if anyone had any ideas(that DONT involve Knight or Monroe). Heres a couple of examples:

1) swap the #9 pick to Portland for #11 and Elliot Williams

2) swap the #9 pick and Rodney Stuckey to Minnesota for #18 and Derrick Williams

Ehh

1) I see what you're doing there considering they could stand to trade down and still get a quality guy like Henson but I don't know what kind of value Williams could bring them, especially with so many wings on their roster already.

2) I doubt Minnesota would do that, they wanna keep Derrick Williams for sure.

The Pistons have some pieces there for a trade but if I were them I would concentrate less on getting more talents and more on getting rid of Villanueva and Gordon's contracts.

Joe Dumars's ego won't allow

Joe Dumars's ego won't allow him to do that. Watch and see. He won't amnesty either Gordon OR Villanueva because it will be read as "I screwed up. I made a big mistake". Don't get me wrong. I see your point on Minnesota but I was just considering the fact that Minny already has Love and WJohnson and could use help at the shooting gaurd. Maybe #9 for #18 + WJohnson + Ellington wouldve been a better idea instead.

Minnesota dont need more

Minnesota dont need more point gaurds, however they do need wing players so the 2nd option is just silly.

Well, I'll at least hand it

Well, I'll at least hand it to ya. At least you gave a fair trade, unlike some other teams... (that expect to take small market teams best players, and give them garbage in return then get their star). I see it too much. Some guy was expecting the Bucks to take Kwame Brown, Andre Biedren, and Dorrel Wright for BOgut rofl. Then again look what happened.. I guess that guy must be pulling his hair out..

Why?

Why would Detroit add another "tweener" on their roster?

Also, i think that joe would do anything to make his team better even if it involves putting aside his pride (see Rip hamilton buy out) So with that said i think it would be better to amnesty either one, preferebly Villanueva because i still think that one team is dumb enough to bid on Gordon (Washington, GS, Toronto) as opposed to an Out-shape, shot-happy, no defense playing villianueva (although dallas or Denver could would be a nice fit)

Dumars Rock City

This team is about 5 years away from heading in the right direction. In the meantime, they need to remove Villanueva and Gordon from the team. Monroe is a great foundation. They don't appear to have any other legitimate long term talent on the roster. Trades, amnesty and high draft picks are desperately needed.

you say detroit is 5 years away from heading

in the right direction. You dont know what your talking about. Besides monroe knight played well and he didnt have any time with team before the season because of the lockout. Stuckey played alot better after getting moved to his true position of sg. They were 21-21 in there last 42 games they did that after they inserted night into the starting lineup. People want everybody to use amnesty right now. With the pistons there is not a free agent worth giving that money to anyways. If you hold onto gordon and charlie for this season. That would increase any trade value those guys have because they would only have 1 year left on there contracts. Then once your a good team you can afford to go after a big free agent because if it doesnt work you still have your amnesty. They are already moving in the right direction

Reality Bites....

Let me first reply to the comment that the Pistons do not have any "long term" talent. Stuckey, Monroe and Knight are all high quality players and Knight has a chance to be special. They have a chance to draft a very good player at 9 because every year someone takes a chance on a player way ahead of where everyone thought they would go. How else do you think they landed Monroe and Knight? Stuckey was a very good find later in the draft but I think he needs to be shipped out for some other pieces. I would love for them to trade down and get another first round pick. They need an above the rim, atheletic player so taking a guy like Henson would just be another skinny Tayshun Prince which they do not need. I like PJIII but not at 9. I like Meyers too but not at 9 so if they coud trade down and pick up another first round pick, they could address 2 needs. I would love for them to ship Stuckey out for a future 1st round pick (unprotected lottery type trade) so they can get a chance at different type of player next year. I would not mind them shipping both of the 2nd round picks to move up late in 1st if they see someone they want too. Some of those late picks are on teams with Salary cap issues. The 2nd round picks can be cut or shipped overseas for a year or two. Joe D needs to get this draft right so if a player or two they like are dropping, they need to be aggressive and trade down and pick up another pick. A few teams have multiple 1st round picks so there are trading partners out there. If they do not give Villaneuva his walking papers, then they are saying its okay to have losers on the team. People are saying let Gordon go but I think if they trade Stuckey, they can give Gordon some additional minutes and he might have a better year with a more defined role.

The Trade They Should Pursue

I would see if Washington would like Stuckey for the 3rd pick and sway their 2nd round pick with our number 44 2nd round pick. They would get a proven NBA player that they could build around and the Pistons get their choice of the best bigs left on the board. They could use the #9 pick to draft another big or trade down and get another Guard. They need to figure out if Brandon Knight is going to be a 1 or a 2. This is their problem with Stuckey. He's a two being asked to be a 1.
