The Pistons outlook...WHAT THEY NEED TO DO.

Here is what I think the pistons should do

Free Agency
1.Raymond Felton- He can play. More of a SG body with a PG hieght.
2. Paul Milsap- Could be your big man in the hole. The new Ben Wallace with more pts.
3.Rashard McCants- He is misunderstood. He can play he needs a role. Maybe 7th man.
4.Charlie Villanueva- He can shoot and play him at the 4. Milsap can play the 5.
5. Aaron Gray, Rodney Carney- Back ups

Draft
1. Trade Down- My ideal trades- 15th pick and Rip to Sac for 23 31st pick, and a future 1st. Or 15th pick, and Rip to Min for 18th and 28th pick. Whatever they do, add more picks.

2. Look for Gems- My draft gem is Austin Daye. I think the Pistons need to find a guy who can help them right away. I would give the Pistons. Daye and let him be a backup to the 3 and 4 spots.

3. Your Past- Your the bad boys. The D. Find those hustle guys you need. You need a couple of high energy guys. Jeff Aidren is the Pistons ideal guy

agree? Disagree? Also, Read and post on my MOCK DRAFT 2.5

Charlie V is interesting

Charlie V is interesting because I believe he can bring a lot of what Wallace brought offensively but I think they are holding for a big name. Why would Sacramento trade for Rip when they have Martin. Similiar players but Martin has more range. The only players Sac would want from Piston is point guards either Bynum or Stuckney. I do have them drafting Austin Daye though with the 15 pick. The Piston need most of their help at the frontcourt positions. If Minnesota wins the lottery I could see them maybe trading Love and maybe Minnesota asking for a guard or something.

Ridiculous ideas

Dude. Rip and 15th is worth much more than 23rd and 31st. Wow. I think you might need an MRI. Or... maybe you're just really &$#%#&@!faced right now. (don't worry, I've drunken-blogged before on topics which I've never been exposed to) Actually, my display picture is from the night before one of these instances. But seriously, the cap relief you get from unloading Rip is really not worth it, unless the pistons have no money, a potential situation that I may not be aware of. Your other trade idea is even worse. I don't know, they're both gonna get vetoed if JOE DUMARS starts doing LSD (wicked drug, btw, much better than shrooms) and has hallucinations that Richard Hamilton and Jason Maxiell are spawn of Satan and must be dumped so as to not allow them to teach his Pistons non-pious morals. Ok.... too many Sapporo's for this little Asian. I'm ranting like Rick Mercer.

you know how D Hamp has this line: D Hamp is the greatest basketball thinker in the world. Next to Hubie Brown anyway.

You should have the line: ,QHaynes123 is the worst basketball thinker in the world. Next to little Jimmy who has Cerebral Palsy and will die in 1 week if Jay Cutler doesn't throw a 45 yard touchdown against the Rams.

wtf

i think tli232's got a point in the trading down proposal of QHaynes123. Rip and the 15th pick for the 23rd and 31st pick??? you gotta be kidding me. 1st of all, rip is worth a top 10 pick, if not, maybe at least a top 15 pick. in another similar post, i wrote that rip could be a good fit in the sixers, a deal of rip for dalembert + future pick, would be great on both sides. the pistons get a new defensive center who can man the post. phily on the other hand would get a great shooter in rip and they could send green to the bench where he rightfully belongs (brand at the 5, thad young at the 4, iggy at 3, rip at 2 and andre miller at the 1. charlie v is a good replacement for rasheed's offensive skills but i think the bucks want to keep him. maybe channing frye would be a cheaper option, and the blazers don't intend to keep him anyway. as for the vacant sg position, if the pistons can trade prince + 44th pick to the blazers for outlaw and webster (maybe also rodriguez?). they'll have two promising young players who can start in most teams.

ok

ok then how about. 15th overall and Rip for the Minnesota deal? The Sac deal was a little crazy but that the type deal they need. I should have added a Future 2nd rounder. Either way, Rip would be most likely to move cuz you wanna start Stuckey and Rip dont wanna be a 6th man.

tli232 you are a lame dude. Your a mega-hater. They should ban you. How can you even see this post? You stoner.

Whos dumb here. I said look for gems. But the 1st thing i said is TRADE DOWN. if they trade down, you can take a Daye.

And im not the only who think Daye is a pick for the Pistons. Thanks Sheltwon.

f the pistons can trade prince + 44th pick to the blazers for outlaw and webster (maybe also rodriguez?)- NO. Portland dont need Prince. They need a PG. Thats why i think they may look at Kidd or Bibby.

portland was interested

i've heard that portland was interested in acquiring prince. yup, they need a pg but i think they have that in bayless. he's not a true pg but they don't need one when they have b.roy making the plays for the team.

Wow

No way not rip and 15 for 23 and 31 bad deal. We need our fifteenth pick maybe trade our second rounders but not the 15. We need that.

disagree

Pistonman...you need alot. Your losing A.i and Sheed. By trading Rip and 15th pick to move down to 18 and grab another 1st...and keep all you 2nd round picks? You wouldnt want that?

Austin Daye has the talent

Austin Daye has the talent to be a top 5 pick but because he is soft and passive he is not getting attention. You have to think by training for the draft like most people he will add bulk and get into great shape to display his skills. He reminds of Tay or Jeffries. It is possible if they look to trade Tay that they could grab him. I know that is up for debate because I don't know who is staying in and what the order is but right now I don't think that would be a bad pick for them.

thank you

People forget...last offseason...he was a top 10 projected pick. I like him because he has skills of a 3 with the length of a 4. If you work with him and he bulk up 10 to 15 pounds, he may be a huge steal.

He doesnt seem like one of

He doesnt seem like one of those players that can get too big, his shoot is nice but can he get it off in the NBA. He will not be able to play 3 at the NBA level (he is kinda slow) and he lacks the toughness to play 4. I believe he is projected so high because he has a nice skill set (shoot, pass, handle) but he doesnt have the mentality. He hasnt improve that much from his freshman to sophmore year. He is isnt close to Prince defensively and he is not as tough as Prince. He could be a Jeffries but i'm not sure thats a good thing. He seems like a Tim Thomas...

exactly

Thats exactly who he could be...Daye needs to gain muscle

But why not move down to about 18 and take him? Add another pick ( 28th) and take a Sam Young or Blair or ( if hes there) a Ellington?

Billyk dont forget...I think if he goes to DET. they will play him at the 4. In the east, he can shoot more.

That makes sense but a 4 don

That makes sense but at 4 do you think he can bang in the NBA he isnt very athletic and I dont think he has the quickness to go by NBA power fowards. He isnt gonna get a lot of rebounds or protect the rim. But he does have the "P" to be a solid player I hope he stays in school....

well

I think thats why you start him off the bench. Give him time and let him bulk up a little. He is a excellent blocker though. And i think they will draft a big man and sign one as well.

My Projected Piston Lineup ( based on what i think they should do)

PG- Felton
SG-Stuckey
SF-Prince
PF-Maxiell
C-Milsap

Bench
6th- Affalo
7th- Bynum
8th-Daye
9th-Adrien
10th-Johnson

Detroit needs to

trade tayshaun and hamilton to houston for mcgrady expiring contract and start over. Draft Derrick Brown a defensive minded SF with improving offensive skill or go for poor mans kevin durant in Austin daye. Have a losing season be in the lottery, next seasons draft will be better than this one so that's positive (Mcgrady, stuckey, and bynum will keep the fans coming). The Pistons ain't winning eastern conference championship next year Miami, Cleveland, Chicago, Boston, and Wizards will be better then than they are now, 2010 will have many great player free agents and Detroit will have the young talent and necessary money to make a championship caliber team. How much would rookies and young players improve if the whole season they had no choice but to produce that would raise their confidence and their basketball I.Q. Look at Oklahoma City they didn't have a great season but their young players were thrown into the wolves den and look how they turned out their improved team a couple pieces away from playoffs and with more improvement from their big three a high draft pick and major piece like Amare Stoudamire they would be a force.

No

I can agree with that 1st part. T-mac for Tay and Hamilton? I honestly think if the Pistons wanted to rebuild they can get a 1st round pick for each of them. For 2010, You need to stay with Bosh. Stay focused on Bosh.

Super-rebuild ( how bout these two trades)

Prince and Bynum to GS for Randolph and Morrow?

Future 2nd rounder Hamilton and Maxiell to Min for Lottery pick, Foye, 28th pick and Craig smith?

they dont need more

they dont need more undersized pf like milsap or adrien, more than 1 can expose u on d. i think this team needs best available player probably a pg because stuckey is a 2 and bynum is a 2 in a very little body or backup 1 at best.

except

I think Adrien wouldnt start. He would be your rodman...Think of the 80's pistons...he reminds me of Rodman a little bit. He could be a beast on the boards

BPA is not the way to go. i honestly think blow up this whole team and restart with Stuckey.
I think they need to Put the money up for Felton as well.
