Who do you think the pistons will take with the 8th pick ?  With the exception on Monroe they can really upgrade in most positions

With two undersized shoot first combo guards in gordon and stuckey would they take kemba walker if he is available ? alot of mocks have him going 7 to the kings….

Rumour and mocks have Leonard, Thompson or maybe biyombo.

Daye and Jerebko are good role/bench players but I am not sold on either as a good NBA starter. 1 fluke game and questionable age makes me think biyombo is not a good pick, I would be happy to see Thompson or Leonard in a Pistons jersey…. Prince will not be there for ever so Leonard would have a good role model to learn from just like big ben- monroe did this year….

If Brandon Knight falls to 8, I think he has to be the pick. If he doesn’t, I think Biymobo has to be the pick. Greg Monroe is good, but isn’t tough enough to play that center position. I think you need a rugged guy opposite Monroe and Biyombo has that skill.

They should use the pick to get one of their bad contracts.

Prince will not be there…plain and simple.

Leonard-Morris-Thompson-Biyombo, that’s the pool without draft day trades(up, down, rip, gordon).

I like them to use it on a PG. Rodney Stucky will be a FA, and he’s clearly not shown consistency as a PG. Kemba Walker would be great for that city. That leadership at the PG spot will bring memories of Isiah and Billups in their winning years. Brandon Knight would also be good, but I highly doubt he will still be there at #8, so Kemba would be a great choice.

I’m 100% hoping the Pistons land Markieff Morris (assuming Kanter doesn’t slip…). He may be a reach @8 considereding the early mock drafts, but I think he’s going to be one of the better players in this draft class when it’s all said and done. Still has a lot of upside, great size allowing us to use Monroe or Morris at either the 4 or 5. Versality. Defends, rebounds and blocks. Also has the ability to spread the floor w/ his 3 point shooting. Quality person who is a hard worker. Impressive stats considering he was only seeing 25 minutes a game. People are more familiar with his brother, but IMO Kieff is going to be a much better pro.

I’m not buying into the whole Biyombo thing. He may truly end up being a great defender. But he’s too much of a gamble IMO. And more importantly, I don’t want a one way player. On offense, we’ll be 4 on 5 with his extremely limited and raw skillset. Give me an all around player who is not a liability on either end over a high ceiling/high bust ratio type player.

Tristan Thompson wouldn’t dissapoint me too much, think he’ll be a good player. Wish he had a bit better height (6’7"+ w/out shoes) but he’d fit in well along side Monroe and help us to pick up the tempo.

Not liking Kemba (we already have him in Gordon). Knight isn’t all that specail to me either. He’s just as much of a combo guard as Stuckey is. For all those wanting a pass first PG, Knight isn’t it.

I’d also be happy with Burks. Think he’ll be a reall nice player on the next level. Obviously we already have a glut of SG’s but I do think Rip will be dealt soon. Possibly Gordon too. Wouldn’t be mad seeing Burks in a Pistons jersey for years to come.

I think Tristan Thompson work because he is at least 6’10 in shoes and is athletic and matching him up with the 6’11" skilled but average athletic Monroe would solify their front cout.  Small forward is a easier position to find.  They could trade Stuckney for a small forward.  Also Hamilton can play spot minutes there and they could resign T Mac who can play the sf too.  Daye could get more minutes there if he can get tougher and stronger. Also before Jerebko got hurt he was pretty solid playing sf also Charlie V can play spot minutes at the 3 since he will be tough to be dealt anytime soon.

Detroit needs to look at Stuckney for Wesley Johnson or Mike Beasley or even possibly Webster and late first rounder.  If  Walker is there than you could go that route but Knight seems too close to what Stuckney brings and i am not saying they are the same but I think Knight would not be a huge upgrade from Stuckney at point guard.  Stuckney is a good player but playing out of position at the Point guard spot.  Knight may develop into a solid point guard but he could be a combo and Detroit has enough of those.  They could just wait unitl next year to take a better point guard.

lets look at the pistons roster

    Free Agents

    G- Rodney Stuckey

    SG- Tracy McGrady

    SF-DaJuan Summers

    SF- Tayshaun Prince

    F- Jonas Jerebko

    F/C- Chris Wilcox

    Under Contract

    PG- Will Bynum

    G- Terrico White

    SG- Rip Hamilton

    SG- Ben Gordon

    SF- Austin Daye

    PF- Jason Maxiell

    PF- Charlie Villanueva

    F/C- Greg Monroe

    C- Ben Wallace

This roster is a mess…I think they’ll re-sign Jerebko and Wilcox but I’m not 100% sure Stuckey will come back. They need a PG, I hope Kemba Walker falls

You are aware Monroe not only led the draft class in offensive rebounding, but also weighs more than Biyombo. Just because the guy is skilled, it doesn’t mean he fails to play hard or physical. Just because a guy makes his name blocking shots, it does not mean he is rugged or even a good defensive player. This is the same knock put on the Morris twins. They played as hard as any player in the country, but that falls to line two or three because they actually can do other things as well.
