July is right around the corner and we will dive in to the 2012 and 2013 JUCO prospects soon enough, but for now we will take a look at some more of the top 2011 prospects. Here is a look at Pierre Jackson, the #1 player in the JucoRecruiting.com Top 100. Jackson led the College of Southern Idaho to the NJCAA D1 National Championship and picked up the tourney MVP honors along the way. The Baylor bound point guard will join an excellent cast of returners along with several high level high school recruits next season. These highlights are of some summer league action from last summer. Obviously the talent is watered down, but you can easily see how explosive Jackson is.

    Background info:

Pierre Jackson is rated as the #1 incoming JUCO player by JUCOrecruiting.com. The 5’10 PG is going to Baylor, where he is expected to probably run the show for the likes of Quincy Miller, Perry Jones and Quincy Acy. Here is more info on Pierre:

Definitely seems like an exciting player, just wanted to post this and let people see the highlight film and get some info about him. I know AJ Walton is still there, but I am guessing Jackson will get quite a bit of playing time. Scott Drew has been bringing in a ton of talent to Baylor, now he has to put things together and get them some more wins. The Elite Eight in 2010 was fantastic, and losing Ekpe Udoh and Tweety Carter obviously hurt, but last year was a major let down. This team has some big time NBA talent on it, with two probable lottery picks in Perry Jones and Quincy Miller, not to mention Quincy Acy who is likely to be drafted next year. Throw in AJ Walton, Anthony Jones and Deuce Bello, that is major talent. Maybe Pierre Jackson will be another spark that will have the Bears headed in the right direction.

I think Roy Williams, Mike Krzyewski, Rick Barnes and Thad Matta might have something to say about that. Still, the guy seems to be landing top prospects left and right. Texas is a huge recruiting area, of course, but there is a lot of competition and Drew seems to be beating them out for huge names. Quincy Miller being from Illinois, prepping in NC and deciding to go to Baylor is a major coup. Say what you want about Isaiah Austin’s frame, but I do not know too many colleges that would not want a shot blocking Center with his skill set. Now he just has to win as consistently as Calipari has this past little while.

The difference between Scott Drew and Coach K and Roy Williams is the pedigree difference between schools. If you think of college basketball prowess, an average fan would comment on the history of UNC and Duke but would never mention Baylor, I guess that is why its so impressive.
