Lakers get J.Smith, Suns get Gasol, and Pistons get Okafor, suns 1st round,  Nick Young.  Lakers get athletic and begin to build for next year, Suns get their man Gasol and Pistons get out of contract and build around strong nucleus

Josh Smith is worth more than a salary dump and a 20(ish) 1st rdr, atleast I think.  But at this point, the Pistons should do anything to get rid of him and Jennings.  I heard they’re looking to hire Lionel Hollins, which would be fantastic.

If the price tag of Josh Smith was lower, the Lakers would do it.  I’m not sure they’d do it now.

Nash-Smith-Kobe, combined, have a salary of 47mil next season.  There would still be room to sign a quality player with the 12mil leftover and the MLE but then they’d be on a tight(er) budget.

Josh Smith will not get traded for at least two seasons.  Why would anybody want that contract?  How does Joe Dumars call another GM and make that pitch?  "Hey this guy is so good and we just signed him to a ridiculous contract in which we had to over pay him because free agents won’t come to Detroit…. but no really, he’s great… want him? "

It’s not going to happen.  They better focus on getting the best possible return for Monroe instead of trying to get someone to take on Josh Smith.  While he is not neccessarily over priced in comparison to his production… a player who depends on his athleticism who is signed through 2016-2017 season.  He is only 28 but Smith came straight out of highschool and he is surely in his prime now, or perhaps a little past it.

Detroit is going to have to swallow that one a la Charlie V….. again nice place Dumars.

Granted Charlie V was never the same quality player as J Smith… but the Jennings and Smith signings are too similar to the Ben Gordon and Charlie V moves too me… essentially pointless.

traded so anything can happen. They could get a year and a half of Boozer for a 3 year rental of Smith right now from Chicago.

If Bargs can be moved then anybody can be moved. I thought John Salmons would be tough to move to but it got done, so anything is possible in the NBA except of course trading Amare Stoudamire.

I believe that If Phx was willing to send a 1st round pick and Okafor for Pau Gasol they would do it straight up.

Why whould they add Det to the mix? Im sure the Lakers would do it in a second.

Offer them Okafor and a 1st and they would pull the trigger.

    report——————-

Rudy Gay has the option to opt out of the final year of his contract at the end of the season, and if that were to happen, the Suns would be very interested in signing him.
