Do any of you see a possibility of the Suns trading their three 1st round picks(#14/#18/#27) to maybe move into the top 10 somewhere. Just wondering. Seems like it could happen.

     i wouldnt do it.

the only way i would trade 3 #1 picks for 1 is to move up to the top 5. not to 10.

they can get good value for those 3 picks in this draft.

Hope they draft Elfrid Peyton 14th.  His stock is rising and description of his game would be nice to develop to backup Dragic/Bledsoe.  Even not match for Bledsoe if he signs for too much elsewhere.  Should sign and trade though for picks or some other asset.  Other than Peyton, Suns should draft for defense and rebounding.   Keep the band together for this year if they cant trade picks for K. Love or sign Melo.

The Lakers are pretty devoid of talent. I think you might get their pick if they can’t get one of the guys they want (and there’s still a player they want at #14.

The problem is there isn’t much difference between the guys available at 7 then the guys available at 14. I could see them packaging the 14 and 27 to move up to maybe 11 to get their guy or something like that but otherwise I think they go International with at least 1 of those picks.

I think they could move up but I don’t think they offer 3 -1 unless a player they are in love with falls into that 6-8 range. I think it’s a deep draft and they can find talent at those picks

With solid guys on small contracts(Miles Plumlee, Markieff Morris, Gerald Green, Channing Frye) they definitely have the ammo to move up as they could pair one of those players with a draft pick with the other team not needing to send back salary.

The Sun’s draft position in the first round reminds me of the Houston Rockets in the 2000 draft.  The Rockets had 13, 18, and 23, then traded all 3 picks to the New Jersey Nets for number 7 and drafted Eddie Griffin.  At the time, I thought it was a great trade for Houston as I had seen the play of Eddie Giffin at Seton Hall during his freshman year who showed flashes of greatness as a scorer, shot blocker and rebounder.  Had he not had troubles already apparent in 1 year of college, he would of gone even higher in the draft.

He looked like the first part of the missing link to replace Hakeem on a Houston team that centered around a young Stevie Francis, Cutino Mobley and Kenny Thomas.  At the time, no one would know that in just a year’s time Yao Ming would fall in their lap at the top of the lottery and give Housotn another elite Center.

Unfortunately, as we all know, Eddie Griffin’s problems, in particluar his problem with alcholism followed him straight to Houston, and sadly, contineued to worsen leading to his premature death in 2007.  RIP Eddie Griffin.

On the flip side of the trade, the Nets Rod Thron drafted Richard Jefferson, Jason Collins and Brandon Armstrong.  Although Armstrong never really did much, Jason Collins was a decent big-man for the Nets the next 5 years and Richard Jefferson became a corner-stone of the franshise who would be paired with Jason Kidd and Kenyon Martin for 2 finals run.

If you were the Suns, would you package those 3 picks in exchange for number  7 or 8?  Personally I would much prefer the Suns keep all 3 picks and load up on a very deep draft.  This is a very unique draft filled with incredible talent, perhaps through the end of the first round.  They’re bound to land a great player with 3 picks.

They have their starting backcourt, two young centers, four or five solid forwards, so maybe drafting one great prospect and then signing a star free agent will be enough for their roster.  The Kings or Lakers might trade down for the bunch of picks.

Maybe Utah’s pick is possible, instead of the Jazz adding Randle maybe they could get Anderson, Hood and McGary instead.  The Suns get Randle to give them scoring inside, or whoever they want at pick 5.

They are in a position to draft best player available.  I wouldn’t trade the picks unless it is  draft night because you never know, somebody high on their board could drop. I would be so tempted to swing for the fences and draft all upside players that don’t have to contribute right away like a Saric,Porzingis, Capela, Nurkic (who they don’t really need) or even a LaVine if he dropped. They have a tough decision on their hands but I would wait and see what unfolds on draft night unless they have their hearts set on a certain player.

I could see the Hornets trading 9 for 14/18, or 9/24 for 14/18/27, whichever to make the trade work. Charlotte getting the 9th pick gave them house money to play with, and for a playoff team looking to solidify their bench and wing options, I feel like getting two mid-firsts in a deep class could help them do that.

Phoenix could use 9 to draft McDermott, a better 3-pt shooting option than PJ Tucker, or Aaron Gordon, an uber athlete who could develop very well but would fit in with their up-tempo attack right away, or a Gary Harris/Nik Stauskas type shooting guard to allow Gerald Green to slide back to his more natural position at the three.

None of those guys are expected to be available at 14/18, so if Phoenix really falls in love with one of them, I wouldn’t be surprised if we hear about them and Charlotte swapping picks on draft night.

The Suns have a whole lot of talent on their team and whole lot of good picks. They have options! Although I think Bledsoe is their best player, I think Dragic is the only player that is safe. The Morris twins are both very versatile and can play multiple positions. I think at some point, one of those guys will be on the move.
